Posted: 02 Jan 2021 07:25 AM PST I have played for more than 10 years. I love how there are still things to find! Edit: following your dad's disappearance said station plays static. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:43 AM PST All the other Fallout games have a unique musical style, and I initially wrote Fallout 4 off as having just copied its style from Fallout 3, but going back to it, I do genuinely think it nails this Early Rock/Kitschy Pop Tunes that were prevalent in the 50s & 60s (and a good match with a lot of the gameplay themes basically making you a grease monkey, constantly pimping out your guns, settlement, and power armor, further driven home by the Atom Cats being a bunch of Beatnik Bodgies tricking out their power armor like corvettes). Atom Bomb Baby, Wanderer, and Uranium Rock. This is a natural continuation of the R&B/Jazz from 3 and the Lounge Singer/Country from New Vegas. I would like to see it evolve even further with some Protest Music, maybe even get into the British Invasion with Fallout 5. Imagine the announcement trailer opening with Eve of Destruction or Won't Get Fooled Again. Maybe Microsoft will finally make Bethesda and Obsidian play nice and we'll get something with Obsidian's wit and Bethesda's presentation. Or maybe Microsoft will just completely destroy the license in ways not even 76 could. [link] [comments] |

Is it fair to judge Bethesda for making Bethesda games rather than Black Isle/Interplay games? Posted: 02 Jan 2021 07:44 AM PST Black Isle built its brand on text heavy isometric, verbose rpgs filled with relatively deep story and choice. Bethesda, relative to Black Isle, was known for action oriented rpgs set in immersive open world sims that are relatively light on story and roleplay (again, relative to Black Isle). All 2D franchises developed away from that formula into 3D variations. Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights gave way to Dragon Age which had fewer and fewer traditional RPG elements in favor of a more streamlined action rpg experience. While 3D the still D&D based KOTOR gave way to the real time combat of Mass Effect. Bethesda actually made more of an effort to remain faithful all things considered. Bioware dumped KOTOR, Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. Bethesda salvaged Fallout and while they had to make it a Bethesda game, they kept as many elements from the old games as they could. They kept VATS for crying out loud, they adapted that to fit into a real time 3rd person shooter game. But as the rest of the RPG industry changed radically over the same span of time, surely you can forgive Bethesda for changing modestly. And it is modestly. The focus is still on large open worlds, action oriented gameplay, character customization, with yes some decline in story and rpg elements (referring to stats) as Bethesda focuses more on its action oriented brand. But Bethesda has always made Bethesda games. When they bought the rights to Fallout, can you blame the for making it a Bethesda game? As opposed to an Obsidian game? [link] [comments] |
Just heard there’s going to be a Fallout 4 TV adaption Posted: 03 Jan 2021 03:11 AM PST Don't know too much info about it, but if it's true I'm gonna be really happy [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Jan 2021 11:20 AM PST The Mr. Handy unit made by GAI and retconned into being improved by RobCo (thanks New Vegas) is weird in how it moves, "stands", and just ignores logic. How does a thruster emitting fire not burn carpet or rugs or wood or just makes others hot? How did buildings not accidentally burn down by these things? It probably would have made more logical sense if Interplay designed the Mr. Handies to use flameless propulsion systems akin to the Eyebots they made. [link] [comments] |
HELP! Playing New Vegas for the first time! Posted: 03 Jan 2021 03:46 AM PST I was thinking of playing as a black widow-ish character who goes around with a pistol and wins everyone she can over with words. Is this a good first time playstyle? If so, what stats should I go for at the start? Thanks. [link] [comments] |

What happens to the Sole Survivor after the events of Fallout 4? Posted: 02 Jan 2021 12:44 PM PST So I finally got the golden Minutemen ending(all factions are ok with each other, BoS and Railroad aren't destroyed, Raiders at Nuka-world all dead, FH good ending etc.) And iirc that's the canon ending, so that got me wondering. What exactly happens to the Sole Survivor after the events of Fallout 4? In my own little headcanon, the SS continues to lead the Minutemen and brought peace to the Commonwealth. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:52 AM PST So the scavenging station stops working once their are 100 junk items in your workbench. Does this mean I can't for example have 1000 steel in the bench? Or does this only count for 100 diffrent Items? [link] [comments] |
How would you guys feel if we had a fallout game with appropriate accents for the region? Posted: 02 Jan 2021 10:54 PM PST They've kinda toyed with it; but they've never gone all the way. Washington DC doesn't have a distinctive accent (although to be fair a few characters do have distinctive southern dialects). The same goes for New Vegas; Nevada has no distinctive dialect but the female NCR characters could have had valley girl (I'll admit I don't know if this would be a good thing; while it would be realistic and some what comical I don't know if I could take Moore seriously). Four is probably the best example of them deliverablty averting this; only the Diamond City guards talk like they're from Boston. What would you guys think if they did some thing like Red Dead One (arguably the gold standard of american accents in video games) if the next game was in Texas for instance? [link] [comments] |
Looking for good fallout game. Posted: 02 Jan 2021 10:48 PM PST Ok first of all I'm looking for like a rpg open world and choices matter type of game i am pretty sure fallout is kinda that type of game not sure but wanted to make sure if so which one is a good one with decent graphics I don't really want old graphics kinda ruins the experience for me thanks :D [link] [comments] |
fallout 3 / nv extremely low fps to the point of it being unplayable. Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:14 AM PST i'm not really active on reddit so excuse any weird formatting or things like that. i've played fallout 3 to the end and i was gonna start properly playing new vegas when they both suddenly broke for no perceivable reason? they run at extremely low frame rates (by low i mean, goddam, i cant shoot straight and it stutters and is completely unplayable, id say lower than 10-5) i have a decent computer, its not too new and its not too old either, its a msi GE72 6QD Apache pro laptop with a NVIDIA GT960M and it used to run perfectly fine, fallout 3 had a tendency to crash but i fixed that ages ago through editing an ini. file but that cant be the cause bc it wouldn't explain why new Vegas is also having this issue, neither games are modded, and i believe neither have any dlc installed, so like i'm completely lost, fallout games are pretty important to me and it sucks in playing up like this. if you have anything that could help or could link other threads that can help id love that! google hasn't really helped me really, i normally fix these things myself but im lost with this one. The Institute looks vulnerable to a Bioshock Rapture style takeover (e.g. by Kellogg?) Posted: 02 Jan 2021 09:30 PM PST Something about the Institute reminds me of Andrew Ryan's Rapture in Bioshock - a bunch of closeted otherworldly scientists, they seem vulnerable to subversion or takeover by more brutal operators. I can see someone like Kellogg playing the role of Frank Fontaine - a mobster who muscles in and takes over. I guess the muscle of the Institute is the synths, particularly the coursers, so to subvert it, one would need to find a way of getting control of them. (This is bringing back memories of the FNV platinum chip.) However, Kellogg himself doesn't seem to have the ambition or drive - he seems world weary, content to play a supporting role. From the flashbacks, it seems life for him was mainly about survival and the death of his family may have dampened his ambition. Plus the Institute leadership may be more brutal than I give them credit for being. They don't seem that effective as operators when you meet Father and the leading scientists, but the fact that they developed coursers and their shenanigans above ground with the Coursers suggest they understand how power works. There would have been some interesting possibilities to take the Institute - whether it's a Frank Fontaine type subversion, a System Shock Shodan type robot uprising or perhaps a civil war between a "mad scientist" faction wanting to leverage the power of the Gen 3s and a more decent group such as Madison Li who still want to serve mankind. [Fallout 2]I sold Vic's radio and I'm level 3. Am I boned? Posted: 02 Jan 2021 02:01 PM PST So I no longer have Vic's radio, and so I can't complete the quest the "peaceful" way. And I'm equipped with a 10mm pistol, leather armor, and not nearly enough ammo. Does anyone have some tips on how to... not die? [link] [comments] |
What fallout should I start with from fallout 3, new Vegas and 4 Posted: 02 Jan 2021 07:52 PM PST I want to get into the series and enjoy the games. Thing is I don't know what to start with, I've played them a little before and own all 3 currently. I'm thinking should I start with 4 and go down or should I start with 3 or new Vegas then go up? Also should play the older versions on old gen or through ps now the streaming service [link] [comments] |
Dark purple squares on legs and feet in FO4 Posted: 02 Jan 2021 11:25 PM PST Ok so I just posted this issue, and as much as I appreciate the input, it still never answered my question as to HOW I could fix it. It's not the bright purple you see when you Google search. It's squares of dark purple on the legs and foot. Also why would nothing be working or looking right when I disable all mods? I get WHY it's happening, but I need to know how to get past it. Here's my question: So I've been having a lot of problems as of late with my companions skin texture in FO4. For a while it was fine, then suddenly it started loading this splotchy dark purple skin tone on the legs and feet. I'm sure it's a mod issue, but even after disabling some like busty or cbbe or the underwear mods, the issue still persists. Hell even when all of them are disabled it still looks yeh same, meaning none of the mods are working or doing what they're supposed to do as well. Busty for instance has no changes. Anyway here is my load order. Any help would be appreciated!

Is fallout new vegas one of the better fallout games? Posted: 02 Jan 2021 07:09 PM PST I like nearly all the fallout games (apart from 76 that mess can burn) but I've only got small childhood memories of me running around a casino shooting robots and hearing sex noises and my brother coming back to reload a previous save but I really want to olay new vegas. Should I expect it to be good or bad? [link] [comments] |
