The silenced .22 is secretly Amazing!!!

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 03:06 AM PST

I've been running a luck 10 stealth build and have been bumping up my agility and increasing guns and my main sidearm is the silenced .22.

The critical hit damage is immense and if you shoot someone whilst hidden the npc's don't notice and has no consequences with that faction in terms of reputation. The plus 10 lick makes the critical hits hurt so much more and makes it happen so much more often. (But you once noticed its actually useless, so carry a good backup if you're spotted)

About the absurdly amazing complexity of Fallout: New Vegas plot

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 05:55 AM PST

    [DISCLAIMERs]

    1. I am not meaning any bad for New Vegas, although the title may get you think otherwise. This is an Apreciation Post.
    2. My experience, my playthrough, my opinion.
    3. Spoilers ahead.

So, I was playing New Vegas in my 7th playthrough, as this games just CAN'T bore me, and after a long play paying attention to every story, every NPC, every mission, every detail, getting ED-E, Veronica and Raul, and the Cass quest, and having fun without any rush, I've finally got to the Strip, without paying the fee, as I got the passport from Mick, or maybe Ralph, after helping The King.

Then, you know, that creepy voyeur robot called Victor is in the Strip and asks you to go meet Mr. House in the Penthouse of Lucky 38. Welp, I had come here to meet with that punky bastard Benny, but as I'm aware of the world around me, Mr. House is the Tony Stark of the 60s of the 2000s, the Howard Hughes of Fallout; also it's 250 years old, and is the CEO of every god damn tech company before the war; and for concluding: is my boss (he ordered the goddamn chip).

So, I go meet him at the 38, and he says I gotta recover the Platinum chip for him. I say, not interested, so he says I HAVE TO. Still not interested. I been shot to dead for that chip, like hell I'm gonna hand it over like that without knowing what the heck it is and does.

I go see Benny at the Tops, with non-lethal intentions. He says we would talk, but in the absoulte suite of the Tops. I go there to wait him to come, and he talks me in the intercom and says he will send his boyfriends to kill me. Welp, I'm able to convice him to not do that, and then he escapes. With my Platinum Chip. Yay.

The game tells me I could search his room for clues, and I do so, and find Yes Man. Yes Man tells me Benny's plan (kill Mr. House and activate the Platinum Chip, to upgrade New Vegas defenses and have the control of the city).

So, here I come. I've seen people getting poor and wasted by loosing everything they got in the Strip, and Mr. House trying to mantain Old Vegas lifestyle after a mf end of the wolrd, an try like anything happened. So, I do not want House to be the at the management of the city, so I decide to "fire" him. I ask Yes Man how to do it and he says I probably gotta fight at the 38, and I need the Platinum Chip, which is in Benny's hands, who has fled to Fortification Hill, where Caesar's Legion is settled. Yay.

So, what I'm going to do now:

I gotta go to the Nellis Air Force base, to get a gun optimized to go against robots and Power Armor: the Pulse Gun (which later I'll discover is not there, but in Vault 34). I know of this weapon because Veronica needs it to convince his Elder to alter their behavior after losing at Helios One. But in Nellis AFB are the Boomers, and I cant just execute all of them because I've been told to get them to hand over ammunition and support for NCR on the upcoming Battle of Hoover Dam v2.0. Once I have the gun, I'd have advantage when fighting Securitrons in the Penthouse of Lucky 38. Now, to access Mr. House and disconnect him, I need the Platinum Chip, so I gotta go get it at the lion's den in Fort Hill. They wont just give me the chip, so I will have to fight for it. And with both things, I can go to Mr. House and unplug him, without major difficulties.

All of this is to accomplish one (1) step from one (1) of the main misions, according to the way I play it, and with my particular decisions.

When you let this game catch you and immerse you in it, you discover it's absolutely insane.

    Question on Gun Skill

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 08:59 AM PST

So I am going to do a playthough only using Ratslayer. When you look at the stats for it, it requires 0 in guns to use effectively. I am also using Logans Loophole, so i will not go past level 30. My question is, since im using a gun that requires 0 in guns, so i need to even put any points into it? Or, will a higher guns skill rating make the gun do more base damage?

Blackjack dealer cheats, mods to fix?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 07:17 PM PST

I was playing black jack and I got two aces so I split the deck but I got two more aces and ended up with 3 ace of clubs and like 1 ace of hearts. WTF is this? Does anyone know of any mods to fix this so blackjack uses a "real" deck?

Edit: So apparently real blackjack uses more than one deck, sorry for the dumb question

I'm playing on a laptop with an RTX 2080 Super Max-Q and barely holding even 60 fps. I have the 4GB patch and Tick Fix installed. Is there anything I can do to get a decent framerate?

Jsawyer-Ultimate edition mod XP reduction question

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 08:09 AM PST

So I tried the jsawyer mod for the first time over the last few days and I've been thoroughly enjoying it. But one thing that's bothering me is that XP gains, specifically from killing enemies, seems to be significantly lowered, even though I have that option disabled in the INI file.

For example killing an adult cazador with the mod disabled nets me 45xp, whereas I get 20 something xp for killing them with it enabled

I was wondering if this has something to do with the more XP required for level up change, but even that confused me since that shouldn't really affect how much XP you actually receive. Can anyone confirm for me?

    The frontier is here

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 09:29 PM PST

Alright boys I've waited all week and it's Friday and can't find it on steam lol. Anyone no where it's hiding.

Edit: so I thought it would be on fallout New Vegas' page but it actually has its own dedicated page, unlike normal mods on steam.

If I download the mod from steam will it go into my fnv load order and use my fnv mods in the load order. Its just because I don't want to rework the game for this mod.

    Lore friendly weapon mods?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 10:29 PM PST

Hello, I'm wondering if there are any good lore friendly weapon mods, for guns from the 50s-70s like the FNFAL, AR10, M14, and other weapons. Thanks in advance.

[FNV] Fallout: The Frontier - HUGE MASSIVE NEW MOD - Livestream with one of the Devs

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 08:10 PM PST

Is there a mod that changes how many lines of text can be displayed on an inventory screen?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 05:51 AM PST

Or, alternatively, one that decreases the font (and thus allowing more space). I ask because I'd prefer for the page not to scroll up and down so much.
