I mean you would've figured that since people in the Commonwealth are flying vertibirds and teleporting that at least one jackoff would've figured out how to make a vroom vroom machine.

    Apparently not...

After countless attempts, I was finally able to beat Fallout 3 and all dlcs without dying

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 11:18 PM PST

Inspired by many a true nerd's videos I wanted to see if I could do it myself, while I didn't go as hardcore as him where he doesn't use healing items it was still a very rewarding (but frustrating as well) challenge. It completely changes the way you play, I took perks like light step, toughness, life-giver which I never normally take, and I didn't even fast travel to certain locations in fear of spawning right before a deathclaw or talon company mercenaries.

I also made the game harder by playing the way I wanted to roleplay. Using ttw custom beginning I was able to roleplay as a regulator meaning, duster armors only (although I did use armored wasteland for better-looking dusters and upped their DT slightly), so it's not like I used t-51b power armor. Now I might have missed some areas since I didn't take explorer yet, but I'm just happy to finish all the major sidequests of the base game and the main quest of the base game plus dlcs (I ain't got time to look for those ingots)

For those interested, I'm using TTW, Bleed by Roy batty which ups damage so no more bullet sponges although reavers and overlords can still take a moderate amount of shots, and jsawyer ttw which reduce skill per level, level cap, carry weight, etc, but I also had to install the no artificial difficulty mod, to get rid of the 1080 damage double-barrel shotguns, yes you read that right. The game is already tough enough with bleed and jsawyer and I figured it makes no sense why a double-barrel shotgun is the most dangerous weapon next to liberty prime.

If you're really looking for a different Fallout playthrough I do recommend it, maybe not permadeath, but give yourself a set number of lives whether it be 1, 3, 5, or even 10, it makes combat feel very rewarding knowing you can't just reload and try again an infinite number of times. If anyone has any questions or comments feel free to ask :)

Jun Long just got his revenge on the Raiders, nuclear style

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 08:30 PM PST

I've been sleeping in Sanctuary, buying steel, oil and circuitry shipments from Carla with my water farm money, and supplementing it with gears junk from her to fortify all settlements in the Commonwealth. Suddenly, I heard the defenses go off. The Raiders had come. Bad move.

Jun Long took out my Instigating Fat Man from the workshop and started nuking the raiders. I have no idea how he did it without blowing up half the town, but most of them were coming from a side that hadn't been built up. He killed all the Raiders before I took the freaking thing away from him.

So, just a note, if you don't want your crazy settlers firing nukes, remember not to store them where they can reach them.

Anyway, I am sure Jun Long feels much better about himself and his loss now that Sanctuary is glowing in the dark. The silver lining is I guess I won't need electric lighting now. Thanks, Jun!

What do you think about a Kraken enemy in the next fallout game? I haven’t played them all but it seems like Fallout and Bethesda games in general have a lack of water enemies. In the fallout series, the Kraken seems like a viable enemy, like a mutated squid or octopus, do you agree?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2021 02:19 AM PST

Big brain question here (as it involves brains). If you were to die and had two options.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2021 03:36 AM PST

If you were to die for any reason, but there could be a way to... not die. Would you want to become a Robobrain or a Synth? And why?

Let's say you are suffering from cancer (like Father) and you don't have much time left. Would you want to transfer your conciousness to a Synth and live on (without the cancer obviously), or would you want your brain to be transfered to a Robobrain an live on like a robot.

Robobrains can be anything. From Robobrains we've seen in Fallout 1&2 to 3&New Vegas to even the "abominations" the Sole Survivor can make.

As for Synths, you can choose to become a Courser if you want.

Personally I would go with the Synth, since I will have my appearance, I can interact with other people, I can do stuff that I do now, I can even have emotions. The only problem you will have is the Brotherhood. But it's a risk you can take, and if you convince the right minds, you might not worry about the Brotherhood at all.

While a Robobrain lacks in those categories, it can become a powerhouse and destroy everything. However, that is something cool and all, but get boring pretty easily. And probably other people will see you as a threat and try to destroy you.

Fallout 3 (GOTY) crashes upon startup

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 11:24 PM PST

Hello all, I just bought fallout 3 for steam and when the game launches and I click "play" on the main menu the game crashes.

I looked up tutorials but when I click properties on the application there isn't a "compatibility" option therefore I cannot complete the tutorial's instructions. Any help would be much appreciated.

About slavery in the Den (Possible spoilers)

    Posted: 13 Jan 2021 04:39 AM PST

So, I've recently started playing fallout 2 and after completing all quests in the Den I was wondering if I could end Metzgers business once and for all. However, I it's almost impossible in that early period of the game to do so. Thus, I returned to the Den after discovering Broken hills, as I was out of fuel for Highwayman, and tried to shoot everyone in the slavers guild. I found this thing quite easy, because I was using assault rife( it deals enormous amount of damage) and Vic with Sulik were really helpful. Eventually, I set all the slaves free and got a lot of experience. All pistols taken from slavers corpses were sold to by fusion cells.

So, what do you think? On which stage of the game you killed Metzger or you decided to join him?

    Photos

Sanded and repainted in various techniques to look weathered and used. EL panel screen that lights up and the official light up Radio module I had to take apart and repaint as well! The stand is currently original but may repaint it to look weathered or maybe more mettalic!

Should beat Fallout 4 with the Institute or the Minutemen?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 06:36 PM PST

I'm doing another playthrough of Fallout 4, this time a lot more heavily modded than my previous ones, and have already made enemies with the other factions besides the Institute and the Minutemen. I haven't beaten the game with either of those two factions yet, and I don't know which one to side with. I'm about to start The Battle of Bunker Hill, so I feel that this is probably the right time to make my choice. I'm playing with Sim Settlements 2, so I'm using workshops a lot more, which is naturally making me interact and play with the Minutemen more, and also I want to try defending the Castle from the Institute and destroying the Brotherhood and Institute with the Minutemen, and that seems like a lot of fun to me, but I'm also interested in exploring the end game content the Institute has to offer, which the Minutemen are lacking in after The Nuclear Option. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to side with?

    Pre-war car crashes

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 07:50 AM PST

We all know that cars in the fallout universe are nuclear powered, and when they explode they make a (questionable) mushroom cloud and release radiation. I've been asking myself this and finally want an answer, were there fatal car crashes that caused the cars to explode and release their radiation before the war?

    How to recover Nick?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 09:18 PM PST

I lost Nick quite a while ago after getting Danse as a companion and dismissing him. I've just used the vault-tec population manager to track him and he's apparently at the CIT ruins. This would be fine if I hadn't finished the story, but I have so...I'm in a bit of a pickle (a Nickle if you will). How do I get him back? I'm on ps4 so commands aren't an option.

    How useless companion can be

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 12:37 PM PST

Next time she starts a conversation with "You are not an idiot" I wish to reply: "But you are".

Piper and me were near Mass Pike Tunnel East Entrance. A raider attacked me. To get to me he had to pass 2 meters in front of Piper, She was just standing there, eyes pointed to same spot slightly above horizon.

I killed the raider. Another one came up and I killed her, too. Piper still staring.

Came the third raider, but he took on Piper. He came as close as if he was going to kiss her. Only he didn't kiss her, but took an overhead swing with his Tire Iron and smacked her on the head as hard as he could. I was not in mood to get involved. Piper staggered and stumbled few steps back. Raider came again as close as possible and repeated the bash. Only after that Piper started to fight back. She won due to far superior armor and weapon.

I don't think any companion could be as dumb, except Nick, maybe. Cait would react swiftly and furiously to any attack or enemy presence as soon as she becomes aware of it. On the other hand I haven't tried them all. Piper is the first companion capable of using ranged weapon that one can get. I suppose the expectations should not to be too high.

What are some absolute must have QoL mods for fo4 in 2021?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 03:19 PM PST

Am giving this game another go, but in my first hour came into some minor issues like: sensitivity slider minimum limit being too fast; Capped fps; ADS sens, and some other minor stuff.

What mods would you recommend for QoL for a first playthru? Also they dont necessarily need to be QoL only, they can be something that alters some core mechanic of the game, if they change them to something just outright better. Thanks in advance!
