Why are bottle caps in New Vegas worth less than in Virginia/D.C.? Posted: 23 Dec 2020 08:58 PM PST Currently playing Fallout New Vegas after finishing a Fallout 3 play-through and this question struck my mind, I've been curious about it before but never bothered to look into it, upon googling it I could find anything on it. Basically, bottlecaps are worth much more in Fallout 3, spending more than 1,000 caps on anything was almost unheard of whereas in New Vegas, weapons that cost tens of thousands of caps are quite common, weapons in general seem to net you more caps than in Fallout 3. In New Vegas a Hunting Rifle in good condition can fetch you around 1,000 caps where in 3 you'd be lucky to snag 100. Things like Combat Armor is dirt cheap in Fallout 3 and I'm here in New Vegas struggling to maintain my set, it's way too expensive for me to repair it and really expensive to buy. Stimpaks also seem to cost around 3 times more in NV than 3. Is there some kind of lore reason why bottlecaps are worth so much less in Fallout New Vegas? Bonus Question: why do caps have value in Fallout 3? On the West Coast they're backed by water merchants but in Fallout 3, the Brotherhood of Steel literally gives aqua pura away for free and the water comes in plastic bottles so what the hell gives them value? This actually makes even less sense in Fallout 4 considering how easy it is to get purified water [link] [comments] |
