Like my title asks. I've seen a lot of posts here and on various Fallout wikis describing the AER9 and various laser weapons as the new face of US Army infantry rifles, replacing ballistic weaponry. But as far as actual in-game sources go, that doesn't seem to be the case. All of the terminal entries I've read, particularly the very detailed Fallout 3 terminals, describe the laser rifle as a somewhat fragile and finicky prototype that was being Field tested by various US Army (and I suppose Marine, Air Force, Navy, etc.) units before the bombs fell. Field testing is when you issue a prototype to soldiers in the field to evaluate real-world feedback on how the weapon performs. One real-world example is the XM25 Punisher, an automatic grenade launcher the US Army field tested to various infantry units a few years back but which ultimately is still a prototype.

Where in-game and in-universe do we have confirmation that the laser rifle was actually set to become the standard issue US Army rifle? If anything I've only seen terminals confirming the M199 and R91–two assault rifles—as standard-issue military weapons.

Would an Intelligent Deathclaw be able to join the ranks of certain factions? (NCR, BoS, Legion, Minutemen, etc)

Would Wasteland factions and Armies accept an Intelligent Deathclaw into their ranks and if so, who would accept them?

Were there any gouls (other than Eddie Winter) before the war?

I know that Eddie Winter presumably became a goul before the war. Is there any others?

What is the legions stance on nonhumans?

I seem to remember them not liking ghouls and the like but I haven't played New Vegas in years, so I'm not sure.

    Energy Weapons in lore

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 05:01 AM PST

How were energy weapons treated in lore? Could non-power armor people take more than one shot from an energy weapon? Also how powerful are the alien weapons as well?

What was the prewar black market like?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 02:22 PM PST

So in far harbor we find a modified Fatman launcher in a bowling alley how could a prewar person get this? We also find them in police lock ups. In one of the tunnels, (I forgot which one) we find a stash of chems and a thieving operation from the local ration site. And the chem dealer in sanctuary talks about selling chems including X cell, how could one come across government food, high tech weapons, and chems end up in the hands of dealers and how would procure them?
