If Arroyo was founded by the Vault Dweller, why was it tribal?

The Vault Dweller came from a pre war vault with high tech stuff and presumably pre war knowledge and education, so why did the vault dweller go on to form a tribal village with basically no scientific knowledge and only uses sharpened sticks and powder. The Vault Dweller was canonically connected to the Brotherhood Of Steel and growing NCR. He probably had power armor too. So why did the village he formed become tribal?

What do we know about pre-war American politics? Did it influence the formation of the Enclave?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 09:10 PM PDT

The Enclave is the oldest faction to exist in all of Fallout, beginning before the bombs even fell. It was supposedly founded by the US President. I've wondered what we know about pre-war American politics and the rise of the Enclave as America's shadow government. Was they idea the President's? Was it the ideals of Congressman? Was it the Joint Chiefs of Staff? The Enclave's technology, the oil rig, Vertibirds couldn't have been the foresight of one man. I remember the people of Andale confirm the Republican party is both around and the ruling conservative party (not always the case given the party's history), were Democrats a thing? What were the American political platforms? And how did all of this influence the formation of the Enclave?

Why does every faction have such a hard time dealing with the institute?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 01:29 PM PDT

A regular institute pistol/rifle literally does 7 damage. You could take down a 2000 of them with only 20 brotherhood knights. What makes them such a threat?

Why do Fallout 2 tribals resemble old native American tribes?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:05 PM PDT

This applies to NV too in Honest Hearts. This always bothered me because it really feels like they just wanted pseudo native characters just cause it's cool, which doesn't seem unlikely considering how the tone changed in 2. But anyway, is there an actual solid reason so many of the tribes ended up like that? The survivors of the war lived in Vaults, so why would they not be technologically minded and speak with an American accent? Not to mention less spiritual and more of of touch with the natural world. I find this to be less of a regression and more of a complete cultural change which happened...how? And to so many tribes? I would think the old vault dwellers and their descendents would end up something like Shady Sands.

How do the weapons forges (Fo4 Contraptions) work?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 12:06 PM PDT

They may be non-canon but still. How do they work it's just literally one piece you just load the required junk to make the desired weapons. Which would make you think they would need a much more complex assembly line. Also how would the BoS react to the fact that Minutemen Settlements can now produce things like Gauss Weapons and Plasma pistols doesn't that threaten there place as the technological (Upground) power?

Is it just me or does the timeline of fallout 4 make no sense?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 05:21 AM PDT

When we see Shawn not as a baby for the first time, he is in Kellogg's memories as a child. We can hear Travis on the radio. Next we see Shawn he is an old man, but Travis isn't throughout the entire game. Is this a hole in the plot or is there a reason Shawn is so old when you find him in the institute?
