Fallout New Vegas DND Player's Guide, a comprehensive 120 Page handbook for a homebrew 5e Campaign!

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 03:39 PM PDT

Introducing my homebrew DND 5e Fallout New Vegas Player's Guide, featuring 120 pages detailing the backstory of the Mojave, 13 unique classes, and extensive background on the various factions that inhabit New Vegas. Filled with in-game quotes, screenshots, and fanart, I'm excited to have created a handbook filled with the same character that made me fall in love with Fallout and DND.

    Player's Guide

    Character Sheet Image

Mojave Map at start of campaign

    Classes:

    • Caravaneer
    • Cowboy
    • Doctor
    • Greaser
    • Musician
    • Paladin
    • Raider
    • Ranger
    • Rogue
    • Shaman
    • Soldier
    • Tech Junkie

    Why create this custom campaign?

I have really enjoyed organizing DND sessions before, but I never ran a continued campaign due to the work it requires. I either grew dissatisfied needing to railroad players into specific areas, or I lost motivation attempting to plan extreme amounts of content.

Then it hit me: what if I used an existing world? What if I set a DND campaign in the Mojave Wasteland of Fallout: New Vegas?

With hundreds of hours spent playing New Vegas, I am confident that the Mojave is a stellar setting for DND. If players want to know what's south of Goodsprings, I know the answer is Primm. If I am making maps to play on, there is a pre-existing wealth of resources through the Fallout wiki. If players want a campaign where they can influence the world, the conflict for Hoover Dam affects every area. New Vegas seems to be the perfect setting!

    Thank you for reading!

Scariest Creature (FO3 DLC - The Pitt)

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 11:01 PM PDT

I just finished The Pitt DLC and holy shit are Trogs creepy. I've played horror games like Outlast without flinching but those Trogs keep jumpscaring me with how quickly they run up behind you and leap at you. Also they hunt in groups so they just keep coming.

Was I the only one who was this freaked out by them? lmao

And is there a creature in Fallout that creeps you out?

Nice little Easter Egg in Point Lookout

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 05:06 AM PDT

I am playing through Point Lookout for the first time and just noticed this little easter egg.

During the quest The Velvet Curtain (where you're trying to find the Chinese agent/his fate), you're taken to a bank. On the terminal in the bank, it notes that the parent company of the bank is Isla Negra Holdings. Isla Negra translates to Black Isle, the original creators of Fallout.

Are there any other small terminal easter eggs that reference real life events or companies?

    Fallout 4 appreciation post :)

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 02:00 AM PDT

I believe that it's a good to focus on positives every once in a while, helps paint a clearer picture of reality. Now I'm not saying to ignore the flaws of 4, just to remember that there are positives to it.

The scraping and settlement building very much add to the wasteland feel, scouting around for anything that can help you and your settlers. The knowledge that you have to be aware of what resources you can scrap from random junk in the wasteland in order to build better guns and lives for your citizens is very interesting gameplay to me. Letting go of a legendary weapon you looted so you can hold more wonderglue is such an absurd concept that reminds me of the absurd world I thawed into. Considering dropping mines that can help me immediately to fit fuses that can me buff my gatling laser later is a genuinely interesting choice.

Speaking of settlements, they rock. slowly building a small shithole with a single workbench into a massive shithole with every type of workbench and way too many useless shops that you just sell bullets to and buy materials to make drugs out of you stupid greedy junkie. What was I talking about again, oh yeah base building. It's fun to see towns grow up and be filled with NPCs all doing their things.

Far harbor, very fun. Bethesda learned from the criticism of boring dialogue and meaningless choices and made this very plot heavy DLC. No spoilers but you can make bad guy choices and npcs react accordingly.

Guns are fun, yeah yeah I know "fallout shouldn't be a shooter" but eh, this is an fps let the guns be fun. Which they are, slowly building up a build and tinkering with your guns to make them well oiled machine. Damn I think gun tinkering is actually pretty fun too, I love it when games let you edit guns for more then just "bigger mag" "more damage". payday 2 has amazing weapon modding, deep mods really makes you feel like you made you own gun, and with the legendary effects too, you really can have a gun no one else gots. I wish I got actually cool legendaries every now and then, not just ghoul slayer switchblades

Uh I forgot why I thought it necessary to write this, but middle school literature told me to always end something like this with a summary so uh, this game isnt the antichrist and remember to brush your teeth. Marry cristmas

Is the Combat Rifle from Fallout 4 based on a real gun?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 07:07 PM PDT

I'm gonna be a bit honest. I'm not sure if the Combat Rifle is a real gun. Something seems off about it. Is it based on a real gun?

Why can't we use guns with a Power Fist on?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 04:07 AM PDT

It's just a ram with servos, it won't crush your gun with a grip. You'll need to be punching with the gun still in hand to break it.

Fingers being too big to pull a trigger shouldn't be an issue either, as shown with Super Mutants and normal Power Armor. Even then you can just mod your gun or your fist to accommodate.

Doesn't look like it would have been too hard to do by turning them into moddable armor pieces with Bash/Unarmed buffs and would've given them some much needed advantage over normal Melee, so why not?

Are there turret hacks in 76: nuclear winter?!

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 03:47 AM PDT

I was just playing a session and was random teamed with a lvl 102 and a lvl 77. It was down to four of us, 3 on my team and ONE guy. We launched a nuke and there was quite literally a tiny sliver of safe area on top a cliff where we were. He approaches below in the nuke zone, no power armor. We all open up on him and he spawns 3 turrets, simultaneously.

I move to take out the turrets, line up the shot, and then all three turrets jump 60 feet. They moved like a blueprinted structure, not 3 turrets that he found and deployed in NW. I realign my shot and the turrets obliterate me before I can let off 3 rounds with a handmade. He then proceeds to hide while the turrets obliterate my team, the turrets taking NO damage in the process.

What the hell is going on here? Is NW that full of exploits that there is what is tantamount to a god mode (spawning a wall of immortal turrets) now?

Broken Steel vs Lonesome Road (Which do you prefer?)

I'm having some technical issues with Fallout New Vegas and desperately need help

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 02:38 AM PDT

I have never played on PC before so forgive my ignorance here but I keep getting a message about needing to install something called "NVSE" every few seconds. Is there a way to install that through Mod Manager? (Not nexus or Vortex)

Secondly, it won't recognize my Ps3 or Ps4 controller. How do I fix this because I CAN'T play with a keyboard, it's just wrong.

I would greatly appreciate any help whatsoever so...thanks in advance I hope?

The Red Death (Far Harbor Spoilers)

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 08:41 AM PDT

There should be an option when going to kill the Red Death to bring it back as a sort of mascot for Far Harbor, and not just killing it

Why didn't Fallout 76 use the John Denver Country Roads?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 01:19 PM PDT

There should be a perk that replaces bashing with an unarmed attack.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 05:03 AM PDT

Bashing doesn't do much, and for some reason in 4 the Basher perk was made the 8 or 9 strength perk despite it's total uselessness. It would be nice if you could have a perk that replaced bashing with just an unarmed punch, since it would give unarmed slightly more utility, especially with some general buffs to it. Plus it would work well with Power Armor, since that gives you some unarmed buffs, even though they should also buff those. Just a thought.

I can't start the automaton dlc on fallout 4

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 12:02 AM PDT

I tried to start It a while back, I reached the caravan, talked to Ada and the quest told me to destroy the robots, but there were no robots. I thought that they would eventually spawn one day, so I went to nukatown, leveled up, did various quest and destroyed the institute. I got back to Ada to see if the robots spawned but still nothing. I tried talking to Ada to see if I could skip the killing part, but she just goes with her npc blabbering. What can I do? (ps4 BTW)

    Fallout 4 won’t save anymore

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 07:51 PM PDT

I've tried everything. I've wanted to play fallout 4 for months but I can't get further than a few minutes into the game before it tells me I need to delete something that is larger than 0 KB even if I delete something it still doesn't save. Is there some way to fix this. I am on PS4 and just want to play the game.

Adamantium Skeleton should boost unarmed damage.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 05:07 AM PDT

If you're replacing your bones with metal, then your fist bones should now be metal fist bones, which would hurt more than bone fist bones. This could give a flat bonus to unarmed attacks (maybe only totally bare-fisted, not with Power Fist etc. It could also not apply in power armor, giving you another PA-free bonus. It's even something Wolverine, the OG adamantium skeleton haver, can do.

    Weapon mods questions fallout 4

Are these mods on this list compatible with each other? I have two weapon packs but I do not know if they have the same weapons or not.

Is there a unified weapon pack mod?

Are weapons in Fallout 4 at default settings 1k, 2k or 4k?
