FO3 GOTY Steam. Cant start, think I have tried all the fixes... Posted: 25 Aug 2020 12:38 PM PDT Sorry all, I know folks ask this all the time, but with all my searching, im at a complete loss. I got given a steam code from a friend, so no refund options in this case When I try to launch the game, I always have the same result. A small and brief black box in the corner of my screen, then it goes away and nothing. This happens launching the Fallout3.exe, Clicking Play on steam and then trying to start from the launcher, or from trying fose_launcher. Video of what happens (recording doesn't show it asking for admin approval, but the sound happens): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hSoAIfyKvPoDPNdSSW4U0Cr69ZrvQkc7/view?usp=sharing I have installed FOSE (all files in the GOTY directory) I have the NVAC installed (in Data/Fose/Plugins). I have installed the unofficial patch GFWL was downloaded and installed I have disabled the GFWL with a mod (and the "live" option in the game menu) Both the main exe and the launcher exe are set to XP SP3 and to run as admin I have tried the xlive.dll file Both "bUseThreadedAI=1" and "iNumHWThreads=2" are in the ini files The launcher is set to run windowed with vsync at 1920x1080 (other resolutions don't work either, max is 2560x1440 if not windowed) I have tried setting my resolution and FOV manually to match my monitors in the ini I have tried the K-Lite codes mentioned in this guide: https://steamcommunity.com/app/22370/discussions/0/828937546147175081/ Those are not in order of how they were installed, but I did try to get it to run with each new one I tried. Figured I would skip the memory mod and stutter since I can't even get to a point I might need them (planning to play vanilla for now) I am running it from a GTX 1080 (technically dual in SLI), with a 7700k, 32gb of RAM. My windows version is 2004. My monitor is 3440x1440 (hence why I tried to manually set the resolution to match). No idea what to do at this point. I don't want to buy it again on GOG (and won't). Am I just out of luck completely? [link] [comments]
Lore-friendly decent sized fo3 quest mods Posted: 26 Aug 2020 12:49 AM PDT Hi, I'm not new to modding and i always used to mod fo3 back in the day, and I started a playthrough of 'Vault 101 revisited' last week and really enjoyed it. I was just wondering if any of you could suggest some good quest mods that fit in well with the game and will give a good few hours gameplay. [link] [comments]
About to start a rolling pin only build and im going to record it, any tips? Posted: 25 Aug 2020 03:16 PM PDT I am about to subject myself to pain and suffering by doing a rolling pin only build. I already know a lot of stuff after completing my BB gun build, and using the worst melee weapon in the game seems like it would be interesting. Any tips or tricks to spare? (You can watch my BB gun build here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcQ2GYPprzY&t=211s ) [link] [comments]
