What quests did you screw up in your first playthrough?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 05:22 AM PDT

I was a huge Fallout fan and bought New Vegas the day it came out, so I went in completely blind! Looking back, it makes me laugh thinking about my major screw-ups:

-Upon meeting Veronica, I told her that the BoS were dangerous assholes and I was subsequently locked out of an amazing companion.

-Unsure of how to complete Boone's quest, and being too dumb to check the safe, I was convinced that Manny must have been the one to have sold out Boone's wife. Like Veronica, Boone refused to talk to me afterwards.

-Speaking of the Brotherhood, I somehow fucked up their initial 'test' quest and killed the NCR Ranger. I could no longer go near Hidden Valley without a four-man squad of paladins hunting me down.

-I initally planned to side with the NCR, but then changed to Independent at the last minute, like, right before the Battle. All those people that I had convinced to join up with the NCR were all fucked over in the ending slides when they retreated from the Mojave.

What major screw-ups did you do?

New Challenge: Let Oliver Swanick live.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 05:34 AM PDT

There are many different playstyles and builds you can do in fallout new vegas. But of all the challenges this one is by far the hardest.

Can you beat New Vegas without Killing Oliver Swanick?

    The Thorn is Absurdly Fun

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 07:51 PM PDT

So I was waltzing around Westside the other day trying to complete Arcades quest and I saw the Thorn in the distance I had seen a video on it but I had never been inside I went in and in 20 minutes i spent over 1200 caps of my 2000 more than i spent in any casinos during this playthrough and I had more fun than I had in the past 2 hours of playing its was a ton of fun and I really think it highlights a major flaw with Fallout 4 I mean here is this place only 1 minor quest associated with it only 1 unique ncp but yet you can bet on fights set up fights and even participate its just things that that made me love this game so much

No mods or anything. This NCR isn’t wearing any clothes.

Is there a way to fix the awful pop-in?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 09:38 AM PDT

Long story short, my computer is a (moderately decent) toaster, so it can't run all of the fancy mods at once, i've got the nvse and the yup patch installed and i have no problem in interiors but the goddamn awful draw distance outside is killing me, i played on PS3 years ago and it wasn't even remotely close to what it is now.

I'm just strolling along and BOOM, there pop's-up a building or a sign or whatever the fuck else is around.

Is there a way to mitigate this?

(It doesn't have to do with my pc's performance, it can run the game on high settings and the mods aren't causing it either, it's the engine itself.)

Just finished OWB and I've already done the rest of the dlcs, my first time playing any of them. Wish me luck.

Why is the NCR's endgame quest called "Eureka!"?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 03:15 PM PDT

This is something I've never really understood. The rest of them make sense.

All or Nothing: A common gambling phrase.

Veni, Vidi, Vici: Latin for "I came, I saw, I conquered" and a very famous phrase spoken (well, written) by the actual Julius Caesar.

No Gods, No Masters: You're fighting for an Independent New Vegas with exactly that: no gods and no masters.

But what does the NCR have that associates them with the phrase "Eureka!"? Crocker, Moore, and Oliver don't have any scientific background as far as I know, and the NCR isn't overly science-driven. So, what is it referencing?

Any non-spoiler tips on how not to break the game for a new player?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 05:18 AM PDT

Just played through Fallout 3, and going to start on FNV

For F3 I went exploring the wasteland before going anywhere in the main plot. Accidentally did Mothership Zeta fairly early on the game and got the strongest weapons in the game, tons of caps, leveled up incredibly quickly in that area. Then went and played the most of the rest of the game, did point lookout, The Pitt etc later on in the game at a high level and all the gear I got was worthless. Essentially broke the game from that point on.

What non spoiler tips, what should I avoid in the game to not make the same mistake in FNV?

    Thanks!

    Help Entering the Fort

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 09:07 PM PDT

I'm on my first ever playthrough and I'm not sure if it's a glitch or what, but once the Caesar's Legion soldier takes my weapons, it won't let me enter the cove. Maybe some directions went over my head but I finally got into this game and don't have any old saves to reload. Please help!

How do I find the remnants bunker?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 08:42 PM PDT

Everytime I get lost around the hills area full of invisible barriers, fiends, and insects who keep on attacking me when I even try climbing up. Oh and I cannot take the road because Caesar Legion assasins are hunting me down.
