    I made a functioning Pip Boy 2000

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 10:16 PM PDT

So a while ago I ordered a life size Pip Boy 2000 model from TheWandCompany.com which needs constructing from bits and instructions. I decided to make it into a functioning Pip Boy complete with working holotape and holotape reader, screen, Bluetooth speaker with Appalachia Radio, working buttons and LEDs, all powered by Raspberry Pi. It's still a work in progress but here is what I've done so far.

I'm also in the process of making my own holotape game to put in the holotape which will run on the Pip Boy.

    Pip Boy

    Holotape Reader

    Holotape

    Holotape 2

    My Holotape Game

    LEDs on

The REAL reason for a female Courier to side with the Legion

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 07:42 AM PDT

It's been discussed before, I believe. A female Courier siding with the Legion may seem one very wrong decision, but as with everything in New Vegas, there may be reasons. Like hating NCR and Vegas THAT much. Or falling for Caesar himself (or Vulpes Inculta). Or showing off a mercenary's truly unscrupulous nature. Or believing Legion can be reformed.

But there is actually one reason that outweighs all of above.

    Lucky Shades.

An item that can be worn with many other types of headgear and gives that magic +1 to Luck. Has great synergy with 1st Recon Beret and Ulysses' Duster for Light Armor specced builds, and they look cool, too.

And the only existing copy of them in the game is inside the Legion's Safehouse, which can only be accessed after a quest available at Liked, with no workarounds (the key can't be stolen or looted from the corpse).

And the best part? You can get Liked without crucifying people and eating kittens, in fact, not even blemishing a bit of NCR rep. Telling the Rangers about Nipton, doing a blatant scam on Caesar (as he doesn't even check if you actually blew up the Securitrons, mistaking their activation rumble for an explosion), and fetching some NCR dog tags - which can be done without killing a single NCR trooper, as there's a cave full of dead soldiers killed by lakelurks, and at worst, you may have to pickpocket some without any rep loss.

Arguably, it's the most satisfying backstabbing option in the whole game - a double agent wrapping the almighty Caesar around her finger, pretending she's doing the Legion's dirty work while keeping good standing with the NCR and other factions, using her Legion authority to remedy things a bit, rescue slaves and save Melody's teddy bear... And once those Lucky Shades are in her possession, going on the Lonesome Road (extra points for talking Ulysses down from a Legion POV) and nuking Caesar's Arizona in the final scene. Then grabbing Boone, massacring Cottonwood Cove (and THEN dumping nukage barrels over it), taking a boat to the Fort and introducing Caesar's skull to a Denarii-filled Coin Shot from her Riot Shotgun. And for the icing on the cake, here comes Dry Wells and Gaius Magnus, whose armor, sadly, looks awful on a female model. All that while wearing the McAwesome Cool Shades of Doom. It never gets old.

    Discovered Kent in FO76

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 02:31 PM PDT

[spoilers] I was starting the order of mysteries quest line and was searching through riverside manor, and discovered that Kent Connolly (the guy who does the silver shroud quest in FO4) wrote fan mail to the mistress of mystery actress! It was cool to see Kent's story in another game and made me happy. Anyone else notice this?

Am I the only fallout player who’s even remotely excited for wasteland 3?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 08:13 PM PDT

I mean it's what the original fallout game was based off, and now the second sequel is coming out in August and it looks really food.

(F4) Swan is a broken battle

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 05:05 PM PDT

I believe that Swan in fallout 4 is far too easy because of his slow, exploitable patterns and massive size. Swan is a humongous super mutant located in the swan pond, northeast of goodneighbour. The problem with this fight is that he is fought next to the dungeon where you rescue Mr. Valentine so you hide in the bit before you reach the door and he can't kill you, I first beat him at Lvl 11 with the righteous authority pistol by shooting the floating super mutant and running to park street station where he couldn't hit me and shot fusion cells into him until he died. He does drop a melee weapon, but it's not fantastic. I generally preferred my baseball bat (despite being a worse weapon).

What's the best weapon for Veronica in New Vegas?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 10:27 PM PDT

I tried an experiment and collected every single variant of unarmed weapon and gave her all of them. She equipped Greased Lightning. Does this mean Greased Lightning is the best weapon for her?

Fallout 4 gets way too much crap

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 03:32 PM PDT

Fallout 4 is a Fallout game unlike the others. It follows the base lines of a Fallout game, sure, but it changed the game (literally and figuratively). It took Fallout from a role play focused story game to a role play action story game. In previous titles, Fallout had exceptional story and tole play with horrible (low mediocre at best) gunplay. Fallout 4 took that mold and shaped it to be more rounded. The story/role play is now high end mediocre at beat but the gunplay is on point. Obviously when you change something like that previous fans will be upset. After all, a major namesake of the franchise was just toned down in favor of action. This is a fair criticism. Bethesda could have done better in this part of the game. However, people use this criticism of the game as a reason to make it seem terrible. I have seen people go as far as to say Fallout 4 is not a real Fallout game. Even grouping it will Fallout 76 in the downfall of Bethesda. This os completely unfair in my eyes. Yes Fallout 4 changed some things for the worse, but it has the world building and the heart of a Fallout game. When i play Fallout 4 i am enthralled in the Fallout universe. The characters are interesting and have that Fallout charm about them, the locations can send chills down your spine or make you laugh hysterically. It even nails the dark humor. Sure, it skipped out on the role play, but thats no reason to ignore the amazing Fallout game that it still is. Another criticism i see less so but still see now and then is the settlement building system. I have seen many people say they dislike it and it just doesn't fit in Fallout or it is a distraction from what Bethesda should have been focusing on. In my opinion, the settlement system was awesome and gave me at least 100 hours of the game i wouldn't have had otherwise. I can understand if you simply weren't a fan but some people genuinely think it should not be in anymore Fallout games. This is an example of the core of the issue, i think people just want Fallout to stay the same RPG it was when Fallout 3 came out. The game doesn't force you to use settlement mode until the final act and even then its very little at all. Hating on the settlement mode just cause its not "Fallout" enough is proof of concept. If it were to intrude on gameplay often, that would be a different story.

Another thing i want to point out is that a lot of the Fallout 4 directed hate came after 76. I feel as if people needed to point to more ways Bethesda failed so they added on the Fallout 4 criticisms which only added on to the unfair hate this game is getting.

Overall, Fallout 4 is a fantastic game and a fantastic Fallout game that has been under unfair amounts fire because of its straying away from old Fallout formulas in my opinion. I feel like people also forget Bethesda (as many terrible decisions as they've made in the past year) is still showing themselves to be a company willing to learn. After we complained about Fallout 4s crappy dialogue, they changed it in 76. If this shows anything, its that they will take into account the criticisms of Fallout 4 and that could mean a potential Fallout 5 could be the most well rounded and beat Fallout game to date.

I felt bad for my character

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 07:13 PM PDT

Honestly I've been playing on my brotherhood character for a while. I've finished basically everything to do with the brotherhood. I tried doing a bit of minutemen stuff but Preston hates me because of nuka world. So I just mad a house. I made a really nice house in sanctuary and haven't had the heart to leave it because I don't want her to die. Literally all I've been doing for days is building up Sanctuary

What’s the most damage possible in fallout 4? (No explosive heavy guns)

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 08:19 PM PDT

I ain't talking dps, I'm talking per shot. This started when I was thinking, "hey? Does the furious legendary effect have a cap?" The rules...

Must be on an alive target, meaning, you can't go, "well theoretically you can insert strategy that involves hitting a certain guy 3000 times "

    And that's it.

Interesting thing I've noticed in a loading screen hint.

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 03:59 PM PDT

So, the other day I was wandering Appalachia, like I usually do, and I got the hint saying "liberator robot was deployed in the days LEADING UP to the great war" so, before the nukes fell. So does that mean it's confirmed that China shot first, or am I reading too much into it?

Are fallout 3 or Fallout:New Vegas decent entry options into the franchise?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 09:07 PM PDT

I have never played a fallout game ever (or a Bethesda game as a matter of fact).

I have no clue what to expect or the genre of gameplay tbh BUT the world and concept is soooo intriguing.

    1. What is the difference between 3 and New Vegas?
    2. What should I be expecting from this franchise?
    3. Can these games run on an old average middle-tier gaming laptop?
    4. Should I grab one of these options or both (if both the which do I play first)?

    Thanks for any guidance!

Robco Fun, Zeta Invaders spawning glitch

    Posted: 10 Jun 2020 02:46 AM PDT

So I've been going back to Valentine Detective agency for quests and stuff and I noticed that every time I return there after a while, another copy of the Robco Fun, Zeta Invaders, spawns. I'm wondering if this is a glitch or if this is supposed to happen.

Mr. House New Vegas is not safe/invulnerable

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 08:46 PM PDT

All the Brotherhood, NCR, or any other advanced factions would have to do is stockpile large amounts of pulse weaponry, and then storm the strip. Mr. House's robots would be defenses against these attacks, rendering them entirely useless. Honestly, the brotherhood of steel alone could conquer the strip if at its full strength, assuming that they had acquired pulse weaponry.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert on Fallout lore, this is based off of my knowledge of NV. No reason to attack me for any misinformation.

    How hard is fallout 1&2?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 12:55 PM PDT

I'm thinking about buying every fallout game, but I'm a little concerned about the first 2 games. I know many games before the 2000's kinda just drop you into the world and expect you know what to do. Are fallout 1&2 like that?

    Fallout 76: Refunds Yet?

Fallout 1 and 2 for switch/ps4/Xbox or next gen.

    Posted: 10 Jun 2020 12:46 AM PDT

I think a new release of the 1st two games would be great. If they manage to make the controls feel right. The only thing I'd hate in a "remaster" is if they changed everything to full 3D. Every video I find on the subject of a fallout 1 and 2 remaster wants this change, and I'd rather keep the same formula, but include bug fixes, higher resolution/sound quality. Etc

Caesar’s legion isn’t that bad from the view of a wastelander.

    Posted: 10 Jun 2020 12:45 AM PDT

Just for starters I don't agree with the legion I am NCR and proud and I also don't agree with any of the bad stuff they do.

Now let's not think about people born into the legion, or the ones that were forcefully brought into the fold of the legion, let's think about your average wastelander. So you are an average wastelander, you wake up in the ruins of a past civilization, you struggle to find food, water, medicine and you barely make any caps seeing as you have no form of wasteland education.

Everyone may see Caesar's legion as slaver scum but there are some up sides: - The legion cleared out all of arizona it's no longer a lawless wasteland. You can now freely travel, trade or do what ever! You won't ever get shot or even robbed. - There's a heavy military presence to keep the peace and to keep you safe. - Cities and towns inside the legion territory operate business as usual as long as they don't interfere with league activities. - You don't need to enroll in the military. The enslaved tribals take care of that. - There is always constant electricity, food and water. - Very little corruption levels - It's a traders paradise! No taxes or guards needed! (more money for you.) - Caesar is a kind leader and will be kind as long as you listen to him. - Swift justice

Now I will add there is always 2 sides to a coin for instance: - No drugs. - homosexuality is a no. - sorry ladies your probably a slave.
    - if your a tribal you are probably gonna join the military. (By force) - Just generally bad. - Tribal people get stripped of their culture.

Ok now those sound pretty bad but think of how nice life would be for you! It would be a simple life for an average wastelander. A safe one... I mean unless your gay, or a woman, or a tribal, or dont practice their religion, or if you use drugs. Give me your opinion? Or don't I don't care.

P.S. grammar went out the window a long time ago it's 3 AM.
