What's the deal with fallout 4's assault rifle? Posted: 27 Apr 2020 04:54 AM PDT When I started playing the game, I immediately thought those bulky and heavy assault rifles were made after the war, mainly because of the water cooled barrel. But exploring the map I saw that a lot of those can be found near pre-war military bases and checkpoints, and all can be found in the hands of dead soldiers. But why? Both the r91 and the service rifle are way more advanced and practical to carry around, so I just don't understand why in Boston the military would use such an unpractical weapon [link] [comments] |

Any lore about the 4 crashed vertibirds near Rt 103 and vault 96? Posted: 27 Apr 2020 03:36 AM PDT Out near Vault 96, at the bottom of a cliff, there are 4 vertibirds that have crashed. They're half buried in the dirt, but two are out enough you can drop inside and take a look around. There are also 5 skeletons dressed as soldiers, one in a survival tent on a sleeping bag, two nearby, and two trapped in/ under one of the vertibirds. Now, I'd normally just say this was some scene setting but for one thing: there's a TV camera knocked into the dirt near one of the vertibirds. Who was filming the crash site? Were they filming before the crash or after? Does the fifth skeleton belong to the camera man? [link] [comments] |

How socially progressive was Pre-War America compared to Post-War? Posted: 27 Apr 2020 02:51 AM PDT As we see in the meat of the Fallout games issues of gender, sexuality, and race arent frequently brought up. in the wasteland the one rule is survival, something any person of any race, sexuality, or gender can achieve if theyve got the grit. bands of raiders accept people of all races and genders with open arms and they dont care about the colour of your skin or what you fuck, just whatever youre holding. This leads me to question if Pre-War America was a relatively socially concious and tolerant environment, an example and attitude that carried on post-war? Or if its the opposite, if the unraveling of the world during the resource wars brought up old wounds which were forgotten about after the bombs dropped. Would America's inherent race issue be dissolved by 2077? In a society modelled after the good ol 50s/60s which wasnt so good ol for many minorities? Or in this universe would the focus of scorn be shifted onto those dreaded Reds? And if so can we expect that Americans of Chinese descent faced persecution, similar to anti-Japanese sentiment and internment camps during WW2? Of course some identity issues do crop up in-game (pretty much only in FNV because Obsidian actually have some balls) and its interesting to note we see the workings of bigotry in the more 'civilised' cultures of the wasteland. Same-sex relationships are frowned upon in the NCR, very dont ask dont tell, and homophobic propaganda is often used by them to disgrace the Legion (hUrr DUrR MEn iN SkIRtS). But homosexuality is actually punishable by death in the Legion, and of course theres their utilitarian application of misogyny. Is this perhaps some clever political commentary by Obsidian or can we suspect similar standings from other characters/factions that we just havent seen? Anyway sorry for tainting this sub with the mention or irl idpol things, feel free to call me a soy-swilling libcucktard or whatever but Fallout is a very political game and hell it's just a question I wanted to ask. Why is absolutely nothing developing on the Easy Coast? Posted: 27 Apr 2020 08:59 AM PDT Ok so in the first 2 games and New Vegas we saw the American West Coast and how it was being rebuilt step by step, by New Vegas we had a fully functioning society in California and even Vegas itself. Now back on the East Coast 210 years later absolutely nothing happened, no development, no rebuilding, NOTHING Was there ever a lore reason given for the East Coast residents being a conglomerate of idiots? EDIT:Title was supposed to say East Coast not Easy Coast [link] [comments] |
