How does power armor work in fallout 4?

Or more specifically why do they take up so much power.

According to vault 81, 3 fusion cores will last a generator several months and many of the generators in pre war building have fusion cores in them that still work supposedly having worked for 200 years.

But you put 1 in power armor and it lasts, what, 3 maybe 4 in game days. Is power armor just really energy intensive or has this never been explained and just written off to bad design.

Alot of "mech suits" or more appropriate walking tank suits in fiction have had the catch of being really energy intensive. Is fallout the same way?

And I know that the power armor in fallout 4 has been described in lore bits as having been used as walking tanks pre war.

And is the shift in how power armor works in fallout 4 ever explained lore wise.

How much fuel would it take to power the U.S.S Constitution for an extended period of time?

I'm thinking of what it would be like if theMinutemen took possession of it and used it much like the Brotherhood used the Prydwen. Really go all out with the Retrofuturistic aesthetic. Even have smaller rowboats outfitted with rockets of their own that allow them to be used like Vertibirds.

So are the cultures of other countries in the world like China, Russia or UK, also stuck in the 1950s?

Are they? Judging from the gadgets and stealth suits of the Chinese, they seem to have involved into a highly cyber-futuristic society, unlike the Art Deco retrofuturistic aesthetic of Fallout's America.

Britain's culture is also hinted to be retrofuturistic as well, judging from the highly posh Allistair Tenpenny, a Brit who seems to have attitudes reminiscent of Victorian-Era gentlemen, but that might just be a facade.

    What do you guys think?
