Quick reminder that it's possible to get the entire Institute as a player home even with brotherhood/minutemen endings

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 09:27 AM PST

    1. Go to institute with the quest step that tells you to retrieve the brotherhood scientist

    2. Kill everyone in the institute.

EXCEPT THAT ONE SCIENTIST. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR TO HER ROOM UNTIL ALL RED INDICATORS ARE GONE.

Note: clearing the institute now will spawn in 75-100 synths in the top and bottom corridors from the elevator, so remember to bring a fat man with a few mini nukes, because it's not like they're useful anywhere else.

    1. That brotherhood scientist will initiate dialogue with you as if nothing happened. She will give you the teleport link on your pip boy.

Congratulations. Institute player home all to yourself, accessible even after any ending.

Wanted to draw something else rather than more stickfigures, so I decided to draw some fallout character icons.

It's my first time trying to draw something like this, so feel free to give me some tips and criticism. https://imgur.com/a/NeLT98R

    Fallout 3 Luck 10 PSA

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 10:09 PM PST

If you're going for Luck 10 using the Almost Perfect perk and the Luck Bobblehead, here's a quick PSA. If you have the Lucky 8 Ball from saving Timebomb in Big Town, get it out of your inventory before picking the perk or picking up the Bobblehead. The game treats the 8 ball as if it's like the bobbleheads, not like an armor effect, and so picking up the Bobblehead if you have the 8 ball in your inventory, putting your Luck at 10, the game doesn't give you the Bobblehead's bonus to Luck since it's registering the 8 Ball's bonus.

(Just to clarify, yes, I'm aware the Lucky 8 Ball is really light, so it's not a major issue to just carry it around with you, but if you're like me and every pound of carry weight counts, then it's worth it to get it out of the way.)

Making the Fallout New Vegas radio as an app

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:43 PM PST

For my AP Computer Science class at the end of the year I have to make an app using code.org. I want to make the fallout new Vegas radio as an app, so you can listen to the New Vegas soundtrack with Mr. New Vegas and every radio host talking in between songs. It doesn't have to have the exact UI but I think it would be really cool if it did. I don't need anything in particular but sound assets, pipboy assets, and clips of the radio hosts talking would be appreciated.

    Fallout 76: Wastelanders - Official Trailer 1

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 08:00 AM PST

I have been helping my sister play Fallout 4 and I feel embarrassed because I have learned some things that should have been very obvious to me.

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 07:49 PM PST

My brother-in-law has been playing Fallout 4. It made my sister want to play it. It was probably the first shooter she has played in over a decade, so she was not good at first and her husband would give her a hard time when she was struggling. So I helped and I tried to be as encouraging as I can be. She became good and she hardly ever dies anymore. But I am embarrassed because watching her play made me realize there are a lot of things I did not know you could do in the game. For starters I did not know you could sprint while swimming. I guess I was used to 3 and NV that it did not occur to me you could do that. I did not know you could put all your magazines in a magazine stand like in the game's opening. I also did not that in settlements you could move all the connected pieces together. But the most embarrassing thing I just learned is that you can use a perk point to increase your SPECIAL stats. It never occurred to me that it would be something that they would let you do. I thought it was cool that you could only get certain perks on each play-though. I thought it would encourage replayability. I put an embarrassing amount of hours in to this game. The highest level I got on regular was 82 and 91 on survival. It would make me feel better if someone told me they didn't know some of these things either.

Probably a crazy question but how come the BOS or Institute hasn't tried to explore other continents, specifically China or Europe if they have the tech to do so.

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 10:14 PM PST

I mean the BOS has their airship which could probably make a long trip with enough fuel and maintenance plus vertibirds. Heck the institute even managed pull off teleportation so no telling what else they know. It would have been awesome to see how some other countries have fared since the bombs fell, who knows maybe some countries weren't affected as bad.

Anyone interested in an actually modifiable 10mm pistol?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 11:53 PM PST

    Hi, I do CAD.

I'm currently working on a 10mm pistol from fallout 4/76, it can be 3d printed and used for cosplay. I intend on making it modable, like option to add a reflex sight, a surpressor, bigger magazine and a long barrel. I also want to make faction markings on the side like NCR, BOS, Gun Runners, Pre war, Enclave.

I will only be making the model, not printing.

Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

I'm planning on selling the model on gumroad though I don't know for how much yet.

When Im done with it, I'll upload a PDF containing instructions and contents separately for free, so people could see what they're getting.

    What do you think?

The Massachusetts State House in Fallout 4 is surprisingly detailed and has alot of thought put into it.

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:45 PM PST

As title states, I was just wandering around the city and came across the Massachusetts State House building which is directly around Swan's Pond. I had never been there before so I decided "what the hell" and went in looking for a fight.

At the start, the building seems pretty unassuming. Dead raiders, some pre-war terminals, nothing really out of the ordinary for interior cell standards, but then the cool little extra details appear. After grabbing some buffout placed infront of a small unassuming hole in a wall, a swarm of mirelurk hatchings rush at you, which is something I had never seen before and actually caught me off guard a bit.

Later, you're in a small hallway and suddenly the floor starts rumbling. The wooden floor boards start to split apart at the opposite side of the hallway and the cracking continues towards you, until a mirelurk bursts from the floor beneath your feet. I have a mod that converts my Pip-boy light into a dim flashlight and this gave me some weird horror game chills when it happened.

At the end, the final enemy is a raider in full raider power armor, but the unique thing is that they had a minigun and the majority of the cover and walls in that area are completely destructable. The raider will spot you and immediately start ripping through the walls to hit you on the other side, with each plank of wood flying off and the walls crumbling after their supports are broken, which I thought was really fucking badass. I hadn't seen the destructible structure pieces used basically anywhere in large quantities before, so seeing basically a whole room full, complete with a minigun-wielding raider in power armor made such an awesome experience. On a side note, the raider seemed incredibly more tanky than I expected. A modded bolt-action sniper I had that did over 500 damage per shot didn't even take away 10% of their health with a headshot, so just look out for that.

A More Specific Fallout Related Book Suggestion Thread

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 09:57 PM PST

Like many of you, I love the Fallout universe. I also love reading. Ive read through the multiple reddit threads for books similar to the Fallout universe. Ive read many of the books suggested.

The only problem for me is that almost all the suggestions (understandably) relate to Fallout through the nuclear fallout side of the lore. My favorite part of the universe is the Atomic Retro-futurism part. The style of the mid-century advertising. The 1950s feel mixed with the mechanical technology. Does anyone have any suggestions on books that will help scratch that itch? The non-apocalyptic side of fallout?

Will I like Fallout 4 if I didn't enjoy Skyrim, found Witcher 3 labourious

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 01:34 AM PST

    Hi

As in the title, is Fallout 4 unique to the above two games or does it share the same gripes?

I am thinking of choosing fallout 4 as my new 50hr game experience, but it seems it will be an investment so I must make sure. I have a family and pets ha ha

Skyrim and Witcher I really loved their world building, visual style and character development and loot systems

I did not like however the fetch quests, endless looting and inventory management and the combat of Skyrim was dog poo poo to me (no offence)

Can I play Fallout 4 and progress consistently ? Or will there be lots of scrounging around to progress?

    Does that mAke sense?

    Cant start Fallout 3.

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 01:07 AM PST

I recently wiped my hard drive, and reinstalled Fallout 3, however, now it won't start past the launcher after I click play. The button on Steam shows it saying "X STOP" before switching right back to "PLAY" . Anyone know what's going on?

My son wants a Fallout birthday party and I'm lost

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 09:17 AM PST

My 5 year old wants to have a Fallout party for his birthday. I'm not crafty so I'm lost at how to go about this. The internet is no help, so I thought I would try here. I was thinking Caps cookies, and something to do with rad X and stimpaks. For his cake I was thinking writing either Vault 006, or Vault 2014. If this isn't allowed, please let me know and I'll delete it.

When is the best time to play the DLC for Fallout New Vegas?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 05:21 PM PST

I usually just finish them all just before I start the second Battle of Hoover Dam, but I just realized I miss out on using the new items and stuff in the Mojave.

Is Fallout 76 better, or worse (everyone has an opinion)

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 12:33 AM PST

So I bought Fallout 76 for like 11 dollars on Amazon and I'm currently updating it (It's an 80 GB update lmao) I'm really interested in how this goes considering hearing all the negative stuff during beta but I heard they fixed it (or at least made it enjoyable to play?) So add me if you want CaigeDontCare and let's get killing. Drop your opinion down below I'm interested in what people think of the game after it's had time to cool off from all the heat.
