    How to fix the Minutemen.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 09:19 PM PST

I'll say it, the Minutemen was a bad faction. The premise of them is really good, a coalition of settlements that work together and try to fix the commonwealth! Or they're supposed to be. For the first phase of the main quest, the Minutemen are okay, you save the Minutemen at the museum of freedom, you do a few radiant quest and then go retake the castle, and then do the Old Guns quest to get the artillery.

In the second phase, you build the relay, infiltrate the Institute, more radiant quest, and then The Nuclear Option.

I'll start with the radiant quests, when you first start them, you open with Corvaga. This one is great, with terminals we get lore relating to the mama Murphy's sight, the raid on the museum of freedom, and an average commonwealth perspective on the Minutemen at the start. To top that off, there's a bobble head in there, as well as plenty of aluminum to jumpstart your settlement building.

However, after Corvaga, all the quest become talk to Preston, talk to settlers, kill, talk to settlers, talk to Preston. To fix this, Bethesda should have had ~10 unique, fleshed out quests to populate phase one/two. When talking to Preston, or perhaps a brand new Minutemen at the Castle, there should be a dialogue option" Do any settlements need help?" and then an option to refuse the quest.

The take back the castle quest should be initiated upon talking to Preston after phase two has began. After taking back the castle, Preston should confess to you what happened at Quincy, and ask for your help to liberate it from the gunners. You then get to go through Quincy, Eliminate the gunner leaders, kill all the gunners, and maybe you could get gunner power armor. At this point, you could also betray the Minutemen, and join the gunners if Bethesda wanted a fifth faction. This part could also include a Quincy settlement, so the Minutemen get an urban base (or whatever you want there.).

After that quest, you go do Old Guns, and then do a quest to recruit Goodneighbor into the Minutemen. Before/between/after all of this, your character would go to memory den, meet Virgil, kill the courser, etc. all the way up to building the relay and infiltrating the institute.

Your character then could get some quest to supply the Minutemen. You could clear out old military bases to supply the Minutemen with Power Armor, Fat-mans, Mini guns, and everything in between. You could raid the base BoS get nukes for liberty prime and then could build super artillery to blow up anything from across the map.

All of this of course would be stepping on the BoS's toes, and maybe have a point of no return after you get nukes. After all of this you get diamond cities mayor on your side, and then go to the institute and raid them.

Imagine having several vertibirds fly over to the institute from across the map, then nukes being launched to blow open the institute and dropping in with several power armor troops, shooting through everything and blowing the reactor while the BoS are watching in the Prydwen.

    Why T-60 looks like T-45

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 03:07 AM PST

Everyone that I've met that plays fallout 4 has had a problem with the T-45 and T-60 looking very similar, here is a possible reason for the armour looking so similar.

T-45, the first suit of power armour, widely produced and deployed in the war. Quite inefficient compared to future Power Armour.

T-51, the second main power armour, shares similarities with T-45 but still quite unique. Widely deployed in the battle of Anchorage.

And T-60. Produced during the climax of the war. When resources were sparse. Why make entire new suits of power armour when you can upgrade existing power armour and save time and money . The US military is currently upgrading old tanks in the real world. The T-60 armour looks like T-45 because it is T-45.The only thing design ed and manufacturered was the upgrades. This also explains why there are so many suits even though it was only "made" shortly before the bombs fell. Also why the BoS adopted the T-60,because any T-45 they found they could turn into T-60

How did you get the Holorifle in Dead Money?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 04:14 PM PST

You can occasionally hear Elijah talk about how he wishes he still had his holorifle. So did he not give it to you? Or did dog give it to you when you were unconscious? I still don't understand why you have it.

Analysis of how Mid Century America and the Cold War influenced Fallout

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 03:29 AM PST

An analysis of how cold war anxieties, nuclear war and a post war cultural explosion in the USA influenced the themes and design of the Fallout series

Worked on this for over a year, through writing and research, to editing and releasing.

I am proud of this project and I hope you don't mind this being posted.

Thought the Fallout sub of all places would enjoy the content.

What do you think would happen to a female Courier who sided with the Legion?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 02:05 PM PST

The game shows that women are forced into becoming wives of legionnaires, are unable to fight for the Legion and are pretty much oppressed under Caesar. Lore stats that in Legion territories some of them can become Priestesses, but I doubt a warrior with as much skill as the Courier would settle for a life raising orphans under Caesar, given how much she's done.

So what would happen to the Courier? Killed? Enslaved? Exiled?

Ultimately things would look much more grim under Lanius since at least Caesar doesn't take what he says very seriously. The guy prohibits use of technology yet has an auto-doc in plain sight in his tent. It could be very possible the Courier's face on the coin could shift attitudes on the Legion if Caesar wishes to give women a chance to fight.

Potentially the Courier could even be taken as Caesar's wife. How's that for disturbing?

Some technical issues with Fallout 4 (PS4)

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 01:50 AM PST

After about a month of playing F4 on the PS4 pretty solidly (so, large save file sizes, which may be relevant), I've encountered a few issues, and wondered if any of you good people could shed some light:

    1. It's stopped auto-saving on fast travel and game exit. I didn't change any of the settings, it just decided arbitrarily, and now I can't change them back.
    2. Cait has disappeared. After a long time of travelling with Cait, I sent her home to Sanctuary Hills because I needed to have Nick as a companion for a while, and she hasn't turned up there. This was about 20 hours playing time ago, so she should have got there by now. I've checked the Railroad base (my faction headquarters) and I've checked the Combat Zone in case she went back there, but no sign of her.
    3. I'm trying to get the Benevolent Leader/100 Happiness trophy with Sanctuary Hills, and it appears to be experiencing Happiness leak. I've got 22 settlers, enough food, water and beds for more, everyone has a job, and there's no robots or synths (as I read elsewhere that this could affect it), and the Happiness gets about as far as 88 before peaking for a while, going downwards until about 78, then slowly climbing to 88 again, then rinse and repeat.

    4. We had a super mutant attack at Sanctuary Hills, during which one of my settlers got into my spare suit of power armour (because somebody left the fusion core in...) and now the suit seems to have disappeared. I'm not that bothered about this, TBH, more sort of perplexed.

    5. The jetpack doesn't want to work properly. At best, all I can get out of it is a short take-off for about 5 seconds before it putters out. I've tried pressing triangle repeatedly, and holding it down; neither seems to have the desired result.

    ...any ideas?

This was a comment I posted over on Oxhorns channel on a video talking what faction is best to side with in FNV. In that comment and this post, I explained on how I think the Great War happened in the first place. An example of human greed. Hope you all will enjoy.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 12:42 PM PST

Democracy works, yes, but sometimes it can't produce results as good as countries like the United States. (Their efficient at getting results). I mean, look at the Weimar Republic before the Nazi's took over. Plus, countries may not work as the same as the pre-war days or just our own universes countries today. There is no United Nations after the war commenced to keep them in check.

Besides, it's human greed that caused all this to begin with. Caesar (I think I spelled that wrong) is one of those greedy beings. He just wants to be respected. The NCR wants to rebuild. It's not perfect, but it's the closest thing to a working Democracy, despite the fact the government is corrupt in my opinion.

"No empire can last forever. Not even yours." Is a quote I go by off of. I can't remember who wrote it , but it shows how much of what these factions are going through. So it's up to the player to help them and correct the wrongdoings in any way he/she thinks is the right way to do.

Caesar is a man that wants to be feared and respected. He does atrocities to the people of the wasteland because he wants that fear to come back at him. To make sure everyone knows him. He wants to expand, get more land and become powerful. He is so hell-bent in doing this that he doesn't realize the mistakes he is making. This, was greed gone to far.

And look at the governments of the past, where the USA had annexed Mexico for it's remaining oil supply and Canada just for easy access to Alaska. Did the government did not know what would happen when they went and said "all the oil belongs to the US"? Unfortunately not. Sure, America was defending itself against a foreign enemy, but America needed that oil. China needed that oil. This wasn't a glory mission to reunify the homeland, Alaska was only seen as a vital recourse that's needed to survive. America made fusion technology, a technology that could replace oil entirely. Did they share it? Did they try and make any attempt to stop the inevitable war and save humanity and even the planet? No.

The European Commonwealth declared war in the middle-east because of the rising prices for oil. We can all guess their plan was try and annex as much as they can for that recourse.

    My point?

The war is an example of human greed. It wasn't the governments of the world that caused the Great War of 2077. It was the want to control as much as we could to get more power. Than that radicalism went to far and when recourses became short, the true face of humanity was shown. I'd compare Fallout to the book Lord of The Flies honestly, because it shows the different aspects of the human race. It showed how certain ideas can go to far if put into action. And in the Fallout universe, those ideas are put into action. Thus, the reason why the world exists. To civilized people, to scavengers and to the nasty Raider Gangs that infest the wasteland.

Fallout 3 GOTY crashes on startup when pressing ”play”

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 05:47 AM PST

I have windows 10 and a pc worth around 1800 dollars so it's not that my pc is outdated. I have bought the game on steam and on gog but both had the same outcomes. I disabled windows live and tried to run it in compatability mode and as an administrator but nothing works. Same result every time I press play. I want to play the game but I've tried things for 3 hours now to no help at all. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently on this quest and it won't let me "confront DiMA about the nuclear launch key". By this I mean I have no option to say anything to DiMA about it. Even though the quest is active and the market is on him. Any suggestions?

What does it take to be villified by the Legion in New Vegas?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 01:08 PM PST

Here have been my interactions with the Legion so far:

    1. Helped the NCR with some stuff
    2. Responded to Caesar's call to come to his camp
    3. Accepted his task to go destroy Mr. House's basement stuff (but actually upgraded the security and lied to Caesar)

So after that the Legion liked me, which makes sense. But then I went on to:

    1. Kill all the legion members at Nipton - this made me become a Merciful Thug
    2. Kill all legion assassin's that came after me multiple times
    3. Kill every single member of the legion at Cottonwood Cove (made easier since they did not start out hostile) except for the guy who takes you to the camp by boat

And yet somehow I'm still a "Merciful Thug". Despite Caesar sending assassins after me I can still take a boat to his camp and chat with people. They're not hostile although they do tell me I belong on a cross.

So my question is - is this what's supposed to happen, or is it a bug and I should be villified by now?

Any methods to launch fallout 3 on MacBook Air 2019?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 08:22 PM PST

Ok so, I'm I huge fan of fallout, played almost all of the games and was in progress of playing fo3 when I got a Mac. Now we've all heard of the "gaming on Mac" meme and all the other shit, but if we a are talking seriously, if Bethesda isn't planing to port to switch, the only way to get portable fallout is a laptop (MacAir 2019 is the only laptop I got). Fallout series is not available for Mac on steam, so I was browsing Internet to find possible ways to launch it. So if you guys can help in anyway, I would appreciate that.
