Zenimax CEO is the man behind monetazing Bethesda's IP's Posted: 16 Dec 2019 12:02 AM PST I found a video that explains this very well: https://youtu.be/vhCbfb_0MW0 [link] [comments] |
Just dug up an old copy of Fallout 3 for Xbox 360 and am enjoying it so far Posted: 15 Dec 2019 05:50 AM PST I have extensively played Vanilla and Modded Skyrim (around 600 hours) and just started by first Fallout game! So far, I can definitely say that the writing is miles better but have some questions.

Fallout gave me invaluable insight for life. Posted: 15 Dec 2019 02:14 PM PST I started playing Fallout 3 after Christmas when my oldest brother gave it to me. I was very young. A little boy. I didn't really enjoy it at first because I was rather cretinous. I was just aimlessly killing things. But something changed a couple months later, I started getting into it. But as I did, I started getting freaked out. When you are older, I feel like it isn't really scary at all. But for me it was terrifying. I was so young and I was witnessing brutal depictions of slavery, violence and war. I remember ghouls blaring my ears out and chasing me with their bony, gooey exterior. Raiders relentlessly shooting me. One aspect of the game that dug into my soul was the atmosphere. No color, and the ambient music was bleak and hopeless. But one primary focus of Fallout, was the nuclear war. I went to bed every night during my curfew and I laid in bed. Endlessly thinking about how the possibility of nuclear war was real. I thought of the world ending, of my family dying. I thought of everything in Fallout; life had a significant new meaning to me. After a long time going through this depressive state (I don't think I was genuinely depressed. Moreso that Fallout influenced me into melancholy or paranoia.) I started living in my memories. I was doing the typical,"I wish I can go back.". I regretted not enjoying my life during those times. Nostalgia was prevalent. Something changed though. I woke up from bathing in sentiment and fear everytime I laid in my bed. I stopped going back in time. I learned an important lesson, and that was to always look forward. I stopped coating the future in something bad. It was like a candy apple, bitter sweet. I may not have liked it but it is full of essence and sugars. At that point on, my perspective of life changed drastically. Everytime I hear my friends or my family, talk about missing memories; I always think back. It's odd, it isn't something I convince myself either. I don't look back and put up the reminder. It's just natural and passive. It's virtually impossible to feel sad over my memories. Or when people talk about fearing over the future. How things don't look so bright for humanity. It doesn't click with me. Instead I love thinking about the future. It is exhilarating. Of course, it can be a bit much at times. Scary, rather. But beyond that, there is excitement and wonderment. And the waning thought of death is simply a note that I will always enjoy every fraction of the day, like a noxious and insidious mushroom cloud of flames will engulf me the next day. I really don't want to think of this story as a magical thing. Like it was this great revelation. I like to think of this as a rational decision, to face something I didn't like. I simply narrowed my expectations for life and realized that there is more to the felicity of the soul than what you have in front of you. "After all, what's the point in being miserable all the time? ...Sometimes life puts you in difficult circumstances you didn't choose. But being happy or unhappy is a choice you make..." haha that is a nice quote that sums up what I have learned. By playing such a pessimistic video game as an innocent little boy. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Dec 2019 01:10 PM PST Not a spaceship, but just a normal old timey ship fitted to fly from one ruined city to the next, salvaging fuel, supplies, Manning a crew, and fighting off monsters and raiders with your cannons. That was probably one of the most memorable quest for me. [link] [comments] |
The most depressing thing about being an NPC. Posted: 15 Dec 2019 09:03 AM PST Every time you kill the PC, the reality just rewinds time and you have to deal with the PC again. The only time it matters is when you lose. It's a heads I win tails you lose kind of situation. [link] [comments] |
"So I might have visited the Corvega factory yesterday..." [Fallout fan spotted in real life...] Posted: 15 Dec 2019 04:21 PM PST Yesterday night at work I had to go to a major US automotive factory as a liaison for my company. While walking to the gate to sign in a motorcycle started slowly driving by the front door and parked. The guy was listening to "Orange Colored Sky" and appeared to be my age. After he parked and started to remove his helmet etc... the next song came on... by the Ink Spots... All I could think of is I guess I visited the Corvega factory tonight? Anyone got any funny/interesting stories of where they happened upon a Fallout fan in real life? [link] [comments] |
Playing Fallout (1997) In a 3D World Posted: 15 Dec 2019 08:29 PM PST |
Posted: 15 Dec 2019 10:33 PM PST By that, I mean how is it quantified? Does 1 perception mean you're Hellen Keller, and 10 perception means you could spot a thumbtack thirty yards away in heavy fog? Or is it literally your ability to notice details? In that case, is someone with 1 perception a hoarder who never cleans up after themselves because they can't comprehend that their house is dirty, and someone with 10 perception wipes the counter every time a speck of dust lands on it? Question about Old World Blues [Spoilers] [Discussion] Posted: 15 Dec 2019 09:43 PM PST I've finished the Old World Blues DLC. It was entertaining and strangely cathartic to meet the Courier's brain as a separate entity. But it felt a little too easy to convince it to work with me. Did it have a point about being better off in the jar or did it convince itself of that through a mixture of grief, ego and drugs? [link] [comments] |
Bethesda's Soundtrack/Radio songs Posted: 15 Dec 2019 08:22 PM PST There is one thing Bethesda, is good at: Making soundtracks in the Fallout games. Fallout is one of the main reasons why I listen to old 50s songs. Songs like, "The Wanderer" by Dion, "I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire" by The Ink Spots, "Big Iron" by Marty Robbins, and "End of The World" by Skeeter Davis, really go with Games like NV, 3, 4. Don't even get me started with the main menu themes for 3,4, and NV, those are, and sound amazing. Too bad Bethesda cares more about money, than they do about the Fallout franchise. What do you all think about Fallout's soundtracks? [link] [comments] |
Why is the character from fallout 76 so musically talented? Posted: 16 Dec 2019 12:15 AM PST |
Posted: 16 Dec 2019 01:26 AM PST I was getting really annoyed with the personality of all the Brothers of Steel people, and how they acted like they knew everything, and they were also being incredibly rude to my buddy Nick Valentine (because he's a synth), and so I gained their trust, became knight rank to get the power armor, snuck into the arms dealer of Prydwen, killed him and took his laser gatling gun, and then killed everyone on the ship (minus the few children you can't kill). Went to the airport, and killed all remaining Brothers of Steel. Then went back to the castle where Paladin Danse was stationed, and killed him too. Massacre of Prydwen [link] [comments] |
How do you get Gauss Rifles to do so much damage? Posted: 15 Dec 2019 10:16 PM PST I've seen videos and pictures of Gauss Rifles in Fallout 4 doing 500+ damage(without sneaking or using a critical) and I wanted to know how I can make mine do that much. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 16 Dec 2019 01:16 AM PST I just wanted to see what people would think of this but what if for the people who bought fallout 1st and use the survival tent could customize it like change the instrument that you can play or the type of sleeping bag and stash box. What exactly is so appealing about New Vegas (the city)? Posted: 15 Dec 2019 06:53 PM PST While the Mojave Wasteland was relatively untouched by the nuclear holocaust that was the Great War, thanks to the quick and decisive actions of Robert Edwin House, New Vegas is at best a total dump and at worst an absolute shithole. Filled to the brim with disease, essentially overrun with Raiders, bandits and common criminals of all stripes, absolutely crushed beneath the iron heel of a colossal drug-addiction crisis, bursting at the seams with abject misery and poverty and rampant with starvation, New Vegas is without a doubt little more than a massive dumpster fire. Things are so bad in that cursed place that you actually have children chasing rats in the streets just to survive, locals constantly complaining about hunger pains and withdrawals and scum ranging from the Fiends to random little hooligan punks constantly ransacking the place. Westside, the South Vegas ruins, East Vegas, North Vegas and Freeside are all Hellish nightmares that are almost completely hopeless causes, at the end of the day. Even if one takes into account the diamond in the rock, the New Vegas Strip, you still wouldn't find many reasons to be impressed. What you have is tiny wealthy resort community that still looks like a dump (though it's still a major improvement from the rest of New Vegas), has highly dilapidated infrastructure (the Tops Casino still has a giant hole on the side of the building) and is surrounded by a wall that's held together with spit, grit and a whole lotta' duct tape. And while the Strip is safe, orderly and prosperous by the standards of the Mojave Wasteland (a very shit standard, I might add), it's ultimately a very terrible place by the standards of the rest of the post-apocalyptic world (i.e. NCR territory and lands under Legion control). Even the Republic's smallest, least significant, worse-off cities back West vastly outshine the Strip and most certainly the rest of New Vegas by an overwhelming landslide. And it gets even worse whenever one finds that the Strip (and by extension New Vegas and the broader Mojave Wasteland) not only get all of their economic revenue from the NCR, but also all of their power (from the Republic-controlled Hoover Dam, to be more specific), fresh water (from the largely NCR-domimated Lake Mead) and even food from the NCR, as well. There's absolutely no self-sufficiency in the region (one of many reasons why Caesar is better off forgetting about it) and New Vegas itself (the Strip included) is little more than an enormous pile of Brahmin shit. One out of a vast plethora of reasons as to why it's so small (even with game engine limitations taken into account) and impoverished in the first place. At the end of the day, I just don't see why it's so appealing to people in the Wastelands. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Dec 2019 07:27 AM PST In hindsight, I probably should have tried this when the DLC first came out, but in my defense, Fallout 4 was definitely one of the more linear games in the franchise. It's not like you can kill almost anyone you want as is the case in past games. Anyways, this discovery makes me really happy, because for me at least, Vault-Tec Workshop was the most disappointing DLC to come out for Fallout 4 (That includes the other 2 Workshop DLCs). The quests were nowhere near as good as those in Nuka World or Far Harbor, the characters were stupid, you couldn't turn the whole underground cave into a Vault like I thought you might be able to when the DLC first came out, AND it just doesn't make much sense for the Sole Survivor to be helping a person associated with the whole reason he is referred to as "the Sole Survivor" in the first place! She can be looted for the schematics she dulls out to you throughout the course of the quest as soon as you kill her, so going forward, my new strategy is to go to Vault 88, clear out the rubble, make her think she's been saved, and then crit her in the face with Last Minute. One less dirty Overseer makes for a better world in my book. [link] [comments] |
Is there any fallout related stuff in Goodsprings Posted: 15 Dec 2019 11:41 AM PST My girlfriend will be going to America in a few weeks and might be passing the Goodsprings area around Las Vegas and was wondering if there are any souvenirs or anything like that that are fallout related that she could get for me [link] [comments] |

This isn't gonna do anything without power Posted: 16 Dec 2019 03:30 AM PST I swear to God I'm gonna scream. I hate this quest so fucking much. On the Molecular Level, I've built all the required shit. I built like six generators. The console says it only requires 2 power, I have two generators that make a total of 10 power hooked up to it and it still doesn't fucking work. I am so frustrated I'm about to rage quit. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG [link] [comments] |
New Vegas combat system vs. F4 Posted: 15 Dec 2019 10:54 PM PST Just wonder if anyone else can relate. I am playing the New Vegas for the billionth time, and while combat system is not quite good, it is still at times more entertaining than the one in Fallout 4.
For some reason these minor things made game a lot more fun to play for me. Above mentioned added character and silliness into the game, and I wish they kept it in Fallout 4. \I am a psycho, I know) [link] [comments] |
New Vegas. "Talk about Owned" I can't believe it. These guys think of everything. Posted: 15 Dec 2019 12:11 PM PST So I'm playing New Vegas JSawyer Ultimate mod. I talk Swank into sending Benny to his room alone so its just me and him. I go into VATS. I notice I can shoot his weapon, its an option I've never really tried before. It makes me wonder if I can shoot his weapon out of his hand and get it for myself. So I do it. The gun flies out of Benny's hand. He gets it back. I shoot it out of his hand again. This time I get Maria. How cool would it be if I killed Benny with the gun he used to kill me? There's no way the game has thought of that. Well I had to fix Maria with my 9mm and take a couple of Stimpacks then I shot Benny in the head repeatedly with the gun he shot me in the head with at the beginning of the game, until Benny dropped. The game shocked me by popping up an achievement for this "Talk about Owned- Kill Benny with his own gun." These guys thought of everything. Are you a cannibal? Have you decided to feast on all the most powerful men in the Mojave desert? The game gives you a feat for that. Meat of Champions. This game is just insane. They thought all this up in 18 months. I've been watching a lets play too and this guy shows all the different ways you can do quests, I thought I knew there were a lot of options but I knew about half the options this guy knew for any given quest. Even seemingly minor quests have six or seven ways you can do them. [link] [comments] |
Fallout Cosplay and 3D printing Posted: 15 Dec 2019 07:22 PM PST So, using Cyberworm360's concept art of a Red Rider inspired Fallout universe Red Beamer junior model laser carbine as reference, I made a 3D model of it for 3D printing. I'm hoping to have it printed in time for Christmas so my son can shoot his eye out. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Dec 2019 05:32 PM PST So recently we cut our internet so I preemptively made sure I had Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 installed. I play them regular anyway, have done since day 1 launch of both! I was never big into mods so I always tunneled for very basic build runs through the games for example: Dumbass bare knuckle fighter from Ireland. Unarmed, low Int and speech. Stuff like that and just play through the game but I need fresh inspiration, bonus points towards tying it into the missions. So, if anybody has any interesting ideas I and others reading can use, help some gamers out, save my sanity [link] [comments] |
