You *CAN'T* suddenly make The Institute good just because you are the Director.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:23 AM PST

I always see people say "Oh I'll make The Institute less evil now that I'm Director"

That WOULD NOT work out for you.

The other members of the Directorate and the different department members don't have much of an interest in being Wasteland's Messiah. They WILL stop you.

Maybe the Bio-Science guys would figure out a way to poison you? Maybe a Courser from Synth Retention would silently kill you in the night? Maybe they would all fucking drag you out to the middle of the facility to have you be executed in front of all of the scientists, as a way to show that the Institute won't suddenly change its ways?

If 2 guys from Bio-Science could easily lock down a small part of the facility for a small amount of time, how unbelievably easy do you think it would be if 2 or 3 of the divisions banded together to take you down.

You may be "The Director" but you aren't a Dictator. And I guarantee if the Sole Survivor actually tried to completely shift The Institute's focus, they would be swiftly dealt with.

The gas’s cans explode when you shoot them.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 05:35 PM PST

In fallout 4. No, I KNOW it sounds obvious, gas's cans blow up in most games yes. But, I'm talking about the little portable canisters. Red and silver that scrap for one oil and 3 steel. Yeah, those. If you shoot them, they'll sit there for a second, seemingly unfazed. And the a few seconds later they'll blow up.

It's so obvious but I just never expected it. They're just scrap items... but, they do!

"Fallout: Divided We Fall" Feedback for an RPG Campaign setting

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 03:30 AM PST

I apologize if there is a better place for this, but I couldn't find a more appropriate sub that is actually active. Basically, I'm requesting any and all questions, discussions, scrutiny for this Fallout campaign I've been working on for a while set in Kentucky. The details are in the comment below.

How did you find out / learn about Fallout?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 07:52 AM PST

I don't know if this topic is talked much about here i'm new to this subreddit, me and my friends the other day were talking about their favorite game franchises and my friend joey brought up his story of how he first learned about Halo.

here's what I mean, did you see or find out about it from a, TV/Online Ad, game promotion, E3, randomly scrolling online, Friend recommendation, browsing a game store, etc.

Here's mine, about 8 years ago my friend for Christmas got a ps3, he invited me over to play some of his games and after a while we became really bored of them (he had like 3-4 games) at school there was this kid who had like a black market under the playground and sold all sorts of stuff for whatever you could bring him, video games, pokemon cards, candy, etc. One time he was offering a game called "fallout 3" and my friend was really interested so he got some of his funky erasers and a couple of his game boy advance games and traded them for fallout 3, for months afterwards we would play fallout 3 and have sleepovers, he would always have to hide the game from his parents which was pretty funny, years later he moved away and I forgot about fallout until one day when randomly browsing youtube I saw some videos about fallout 4 and remebered how much fun I had with my friend playing fallout 3, so I saved some money and bought fallout 3 on steam, after finishing 3 I got New vegas and fell in love.

That's my little story of how I learned about the fallout games.

I just finally beat Lonesome Road. My thoughts.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 04:58 PM PST

holy shit. I really don't know what to say. The characters, the story, the collectables, the level design, the challenges, most importantly the ending, all of it is phenomenally well done. The ending is the best part; tense, open-ended, climactic, and you can actually feel the weight behind your choices. Lonesome road ED-E is also amazing, and the fact they build his entire character and story without a pinch of his own dialogue, and still somehow got me to have him as my personal favorite companion in the whole game. And then after you beat it, you get 2 New areas to explore in the mojave? To me, this is a masterpiece. Possibly the greatest DLC I've ever played.

Need Item Cap Values for Table Top New Vegas

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 02:48 PM PST

So I'm DMing Fallout New Vegas and am feeling kinda lazy after building up the game system from almost scratch, all that's left is the crafting tables, which I am stealing the data straight from the wikis for the most part and the economy tables, problem is I can't find a single page for cap values of items, rather I seem to have to go to every wiki page and hunt down the cap values of everything individually so

I would very much appreciate it if someone could get me a list of every specific item in the fallout world and their cap values

the wikis have been useful so far but it's just tedious and I could use the help, thanks guys

    My idea for the South

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 02:03 AM PST

This just my personal fanfiction for what the Dixie line looks like but I'd love some feedback. I hear slot of people saying their should be a neoconfederate faction and I agree. As slavery has always been a part of the wasteland experience it seems a waste not to put it as part of their economy. While the ncsa (new Confederate States of America) are classist they are not racist. I think several of their leaders can be black. Most pow camps were in the south during ww2; why not have the ncsa enslave internment victims/Chinese pows as a way to punish the filthy commirs? As most slaves are descended from conquered civilizations from the internment/pow camps most are asian but their are still other races; criminals, kidnapping, other conquests etc still contribute. Most of the ncsa's citizens are subsistence farmers (alcohol, drug use, and incest to emulate the upper classes) will be common; but few citizens will own slaves for the cost. Most will be worked in salt mines, and plantains for luxury goods like tobbaco or sugar. The large amount of military bases mean that like the boomers they will have a powerful military, but their ability to project force is limited by mistrust of other officials and their slaves. As the average ncsa solider is uneducated and dirt poor he will be given an Ak-47 or a pump shotgun (still haven't decided what their uniforms should look like) however he is adept in forestry and a great marksmen.

Their government will be fractured, blue blooded and hereditary. Inbreeding will occur to prevent breeding with the lower class. Each family won't trust the others; dueling is a common practice. Religon will be used as a justification but access to the Bible will be limited.

As for their borders: let's say the most resource instense parts of the south. I'd say Arkansas, Missipi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, parts of Georgia and Lousina.

Other factions: (I do not take credit for all of these)

Great Lanta: A city state that defeated the super mutants living in the town.

Tribals: Cajuns living in the swamps around New Orleans.

    Some remmants of the scorched.

A vodoo faction making chems in the Big Easy. Allied with tribals.

Hill Folk: Appalachians. Famed for their construction of and skill with a Kentucky rifle. The ncsa would love to invade them for their coal mines but while they can't match the ncsa in an open battle they can wage a devastating guerilla war. Let's give them Viet Cong esque tunnels. They can also make moonshine and sell it; mayve a hatchfield vs McCoy side quest?

Outer Banks: A small trading settlement.

What's left of the super mutants from Atlanta.

Some Slavers in Texas; trade slaves to the legion and the ncsa in exchange for guns. Not above selling info to the NCR either.

A really evil Florida faction made up either a vault experiment for sex offenders or a jail for them. Would trade with the ncsa for children but even (most of them) have some standards.

    Any thoughts?

Anyone know how to fix electricty in the air glitch?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 11:42 PM PST

In Sanctuary, I had a few generators, a construction light, and a wall mounted power pylon on a wall. I moved the light once and now there's a sparkling ball of electricity there.

I tried storing and redoing the wires to no avail. As of now I've stored all the generators, the light, and the conduit and nothing. The ball of electricity is still in the air and making a lot of crackling noise.

Anyone know how to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 11:09 AM PST

Anyone else feel like we should get a companion from this faction? We have: Arcade from FOA, Boone from the NCR, countless BOS companions, Etc. I know theres tons of factions in the fallout universe but I feel like as much as the children of atom is used in game for stories it be interesting to have a companion thats a believer.

    New Vegas graphics mods recommendations?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 12:34 PM PST

Hello! I've played through New Vegas several times; however, now that I have an actual gaming PC, I'd like to mod it for my next playthrough. Are there any graphic, gameplay, or generally fun mods that anyone would recommend? My first priority is to make it look prettier. Thanks in advance!

Fallout 4 is similar to fallout 3 ?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:58 PM PST

So I got into an argument with my brother, he said he absolutely hates fallout 4 and says fallout 3 is infinitely better . I think that fallout 4 is basically like fallout 3 . He told me that there two completely different games where I told him that if he didn't like fallout 4 then in theory he shouldn't like fallout 3 as well since there so similar. He then told me that fallout 3 is vastly different than 4 . So what I'm asking is how similar are these two games or how different are they ?

    Can Anybody Find This Game?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:14 PM PST

I've been researching obscure Fallout things, such as cancelled games, cut content, and promo material. I recently discovered, while broswing the wiki, a flash game known as "Fallout Quest" and the only 2 links I can find, don't work on Web Archiver, and aren't online anymore.

    links:

    http://www.bethsoft.com/jpn/fo/fo_quest/index.html

    https://www.zenimax.com/jpn/fo/fo_quest/index.html

Found a broken version on swfchan.com, but I won't link it, as it constantly redirects to... uh.. adult content.

EDIT: looking at what comes from the .swf I've found, it seems to have been split into multiple files, therefore making it almost impossible to archive, because you need to have all the files and then have a way to link them.

Live from the universe where pre-war America is stuck in the '90s, it's Love Me As Though There Were No Tomorrow as a ska tune!

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 09:03 PM PST

    Link

So I'm currently way deep into a Tale of Two Wastelands/Someguy Series playthrough, which means that so much extra content is available to one character, even with every trait/perk/etc. that slows down your leveling up active, it's not only possible, but easy to be at level 50 before you even reach Vegas. So I had the interesting experience of everybody in Goodsprings telling me that there was only pain and suffering to the north, while I was standing there armed with a plasma rifle and power armor, then going north and killing all the cazadors with no trouble. Then I went to Camp McCarran and took the monorail to Vegas, dicked around at the casinos for a while, got banned from gambling at the Tops in plain sight of Benny, and eventually backtracked through Freeside to hit the southern part of the map and meet Randall to pick up my first bounty—whereupon I discovered that I still had the option to ask everyone I met if they knew where Benny was and what they knew about Vegas.

In short, game breaks when you break it. In other news, Caesar is a dick.

How do I align myself with the Railroad, and still complete as many Institute and BoS Quests in FO4?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2019 02:08 PM PST

I'm starting a whole new Fallout 4 game after conpleting it a few years back. I can't bring myself to side with the Institute or Brotherhood, so I'm going to ally with the Railroad again. However, I would like to be able to get to the mission where Danse is a synth without alienating any faction. Is this possible? What missions can I go up to without getting rid of a faction?
