https://map76.com/ Pretty sure at this point bethesda just gives no more fucks (if ever did) about its playerbase

Quick summary: he got his account banned after he informed Bethesda of exploit. Now they just ignore him

Far Harbor memory puzzles. I hate them. I hate them. I hate them. And if you don't know the quick way to end puzzle 5. Here ya go

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 10:56 AM PST

I wish I had found this sooner. The first four I did with a little bit of help. But this last one. I was watching videos and still couldn't do it and then I found this. Not sure if it was intentional or it is an exploit.

Dying when jumping on a car in survival mode

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 11:58 PM PST

Been playing in survival mode in F04 and sometimes I just die jumping onto a car. With these kind of bugs it's almost pointless to play survival mode. 😕

Why the NCR benefits from a House Ending Non-Combative Withdrawal

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 03:58 PM PST

It is mentioned that caravans and routes within the NCR also suffer from raiders, which would only get worse as they're stretched even more thin by occupying New Vegas. Caesar's Legion does not suffer from this as every Raider Tribe in their territory serves the Legion. If House Wins, we can talk the NCR general to withdraw allowing them to refocus on their settlements marked on their map. House still needs NCR trade to keep Vegas busy with customers and likely wouldn't keep more than he needs for himself at the Dam. Keep in mind the relations of House and NCR would be much more similar to Malaysia and Singapore, rather than bitter hatred. Friendly Rivals. They are dependent on their co-operation with one another post-House victory, and what House wanted you to do all game was to help him keep the leverage he had on the NCR such that they don't try to occupy his territory after a Legion defeat.

Why does everyone in and out of universe say the NCR is to large?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 02:00 PM PST

In New Vegas it is frequency said the NCR has gotten to large. I find this odd, the NCR controls pre war California and small parts of Oregon, Western Nevada and a small area of Baja California. Compared to the 19th century United States it's small. Adding New Vegas doesn't even add that much territory. The only problems with holding the area come from the legion and house. Given the ncr's tech level it doesn't seem like it should be a problem once the conflict with the legion is over.

A Deeper, Statistical Analysis into Lore

Three weeks ago, I posted a statistical analysis on the NCR military size. This got 1.6k upvotes so I continued into my lore analysis, but I needed somewhere good to store the information.

https://fallout-deep-lore.fandom.com - the Fallout sub-wiki solely based on making inferences based on lore and real-life information. I've got six pages up, and I'm looking for admins, etc.

If you like lore and exploring to see what the story of Fallout holds, this is the kind of thing for you.

    Maybe Myron didn't create Jet?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 07:46 PM PST

So as established way back in 2, Myron happened upon Jet as we know it. And there are several contradictions that imply that Jet had existed before Myron's lifetime, and even before the war. Such as it being present in vaults and even pre-war logs referencing regarding vault 95. All of these can be found on the main Jet page on the wiki: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Jet

There have been tons of posts mocking Bethesda's lack of foresight in this and that they must not even be aware of its presence in 2, but is it possible that maybe Jet was actually around before the war?

The thing that really makes me wonder, is as stated on the wiki page, a high intelligence Chosen One can accuse Myron of lying about creating Jet, to which he denies. But can we infer something is up based on the requirement for high intelligence? The page doesn't specify what the INT needs to be, but in my current play through my INT is 8 and I do not have that dialogue option, so its damn high. It wouldn't take a genius so to speak as to consider someone to lie.

I very well may be looking too far into this, but who knows? Maybe they really did mean for it to work out this way and its a subtle hint.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas "doesn't appear to be installed"

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 09:19 PM PST

I downloaded Fallout 3 and NV on Steam and I get a message when I click on "Install" on the menus that says it doesn't appear to be installed. I tried looking around for fixes, but nothing seems to help. I'm brand new to PC gaming, so if anyone could help with a pretty dummy-proof fix to get these games to work, it would be very much appreciated.

    Is Shaun...James?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 03:32 PM PST

I recently came upon a video explaining similarities between Shaun from fallout 4, and James from Fallout 3.

I have built upon that, to make this theory. Also I know he's "Dead". I've played the games. This theory will explain.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    What We Know:

Throughout the story of Fallout 3, James (The Dad) lies a lot to his son/daughter. When we leave vault 101, the lone wanderer has no idea that he wasn't born in the vault. This means that 18 years of consistent lying occurred at least.

James has highly advanced technological knowledge that no typical wastelander would have.

Madison Li is in both games as an important character.

Shaun and James look similar (Somewhat depending on character customization)

Fallout 3 is set 10 years before fallout 4.

In Fallout 3 James is 51.

In fallout 4 (10 years later) Shaun is around 60.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    What I propose:

Shaun is raised in the institute to be a brilliant scientist. So much so that he would become Director later in life.

He grows up surrounded with amazing technology, excellent teachers, doctors, and colleagues. During his time as a younger man, the institute is working on its goal of repairing the surface world. Examples of this include the CPG mentioned in fallout 4.

As one of the institute's best scientists, Shaun is sent to Washington D.C. (The Capital Wasteland) to work on their most ambitious surface repair project: Project Purity. A massive prewar Dam able to clean enough water for millions of people.

This was a tremendous goal, and a massive undertaking. It would take time, and assistance. To keep Shaun Safe, He is given a false identity and Name: "James"

"James" is also sent with a few synths (at the time called androids), and a colleague of his named Catherine.

During his time in the Capital wasteland, "James" and Catherine (possibly a fake name as well) fall in love. They bond together, and have a child. This child eventually grows up to become the Lone Wanderer. Catherine dies in the closest hospital, in Rivet City, during child birth. This hospital may have been used to prevent suspicion.

After Catherine's death, "James" is left troubled by the assignment. He was only one man, and now grieving, has to take care of his child, while attempting to save the wasteland's water. Unable to leave the important project, he raises his son in Vault 101, working on ideas. When the project was finished, he would take his son back to the institute with him.

Vault 101 was the perfect place for them. The vault was clean, safe from the outside world, and in need of a doctor. With his extreme amounts of knowledge, being basically a school nurse (they're in a bunker) wouldn't be too hard.

For eighteen years, "James" works on designs for project Purity. However, now by himself, it takes even longer.

Eventually he has the idea he needs, and the main story begins.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    (SKIP AHEAD)

During his "Death" in Project Purity, Shaun/James is exposed to tons of radiation. This causes him to Either Temporarily die, or pass out. Radiation takes at least a few minutes to kill you.

Once the Lone Wanderer has left the area, an emergency synth group is teleported to Shaun/James, and takes him back to the institute for emergency care. This is what the synths were sent to the capital wasteland for in the beginning, protecting the scientists. We see three synths in the capital wasteland at least. Harkness, Doctor Zimmer, and The courser he has with him. I understand there being the courser and the runaway, but due to Zimmer being a synth, he was picked to be there. Although Zimmer was the SRB director, why was he sent to the capital wasteland? He isn't a courser. I think that he was there to provide emergency medical aid to the institute scientists, and the other two synths, both previously being coursers, were there to Protect the institute scientists.

Eventually, Shaun receives news that his son saved project purity. However, he believes that he was killed in the process.

This however, isn't true due to the Broken Steel DLC being cannon. The other Cannon ending is the Brotherhood winning. (Keep this in mind)

Believing that his son is dead, Shaun sheds his false name and becomes a cold, and distant man. He hates the wasteland for taking his son from him. He dedicates himself only to his work, eventually leading to his director position in the institute. He, out of grief, makes a child synth of himself, trying to replace his son. This is why he was so sentimental about it, and why he tells his parent to take him.

Shaun eventually dies from Cancer, a side effect of extreme radiation exposure.

Shaun never told his father/mother of his D.C. experience. Once again, lying to his family. He preferred to sweep it under the rug.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    More Stuff:

In the console of Fallout 4, you can get a Vault 101 Jumpsuit. This never ended up in the game, but with shaun having spent so much time in D.C. He probably would still have a jumpsuit to remember his son.

    Darker theory:

Since the Lone wanderer is Shaun's son, and is canonically a brotherhood member. He is likely an excellent member of their order...maybe enough to make it onto the prydwen? You know. That Airship Shaun BLOWS UP!

help with deathclaws in the boneyard

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 09:25 PM PST

For any fallout 1 vets out there, I need help because I totally underestimated my luck. I took the one handed trait because ya know, roleplaying is so rare nowadays and I wanted to be a rootin-tootin-shootin cowboy. It's been doable so far but right now I'm in the boneyard trying to take out the deathclaws and dear lord it just isnt possible. I've tried using other weapons but because of my build, nothing but pistols can land a hit on any of the deathclaws. I really want to beat the game feeling complete but I've no idea on how to get by without letting my entire party get creamed. Any help?

Would a Fallout in Canada be feasible ?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 05:52 PM PST

Hello folks, I'm just gonna gather a general consensus of fallout opinions on Canada , so we know it was annexed , nuked , etc etc etc . But owing to the fact that many building in old Quebec survived artillery barrages on the daily , this makes me think that it could be a cool setting , with the st Lawrence providing a possible division/ frontline between Brits and Frenchies , since if there was a British country still alive , their first goal would be to secure their former assets . This could also be an opportunity to flesh out the international lore , since Canada is very diverse , with multiple nationalities living and moving feet of each other . Also , we could get new factions , and get the good historical information we got in fallout 4 . I'd also mainly do this just so I could raid the chateau Frontenac and fire the artillery on some french ghouls .

So i had an idea about where the next fallout game should be (spoiler its Florida)

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 02:31 PM PST

Idk,maby i just am biased because I myself am a Floridian but it just seems so god damn perfect for a fallout game!i mean we have the everglades,Miami,Disney world, universal studios ect* and are DRIPPING with faction potential!there could be a beach bum faction or a NFR or maybe a bunch of jet-heads skittering around in the sewers or even an enclave sect that actually got to space with all of our stuff in the everglades to do with rocketry and space missions.and as an idea there could be a hidden "Florida Man" boss that works kinda like mothman from FO76.the state is PURE potential and I think we all know its time for a dixi-based fallout game

Tips for the final boss of New Vegas? (SPOILERS)

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 05:25 PM PST

I'm having a lot of trouble with Lanius. I can't even get him down to half health. His sword just does so much damage, and he also has two bodyguards, and the only weapons I have that are worth a damn are a ballistic gauntlet and thermal spear. I've heard that as he gets lower on health, he starts healing himself, and Jesus fucking Christ I could not even begin to handle that. Any bright ideas?

I've tried stealth, but due to shitty planning I have no stealth boys, and Lanius appears to have eyes in the back of his head, so his cutscene triggers even if I sneak up on him.

If anyone wants to read it along the way, I'd be fine with sharing it.

My main reason for this post is to ask for any lore or information anyone has on Denver in the fallout lore. I've looked on the fandom page, but am more so looking for terminal entries and notes. Thanks for reading my post
