What was the point in the Vault Tec vaults really? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 05:46 AM PDT Publicly it seems noble to create vaults for a portion of humanity to survive after a nuclear apocalypse, but we all know that wasn't the case. The vast majority of them had some sinister, underlying purpose. Social experiments, stuff like that. But these experiments take generations, hundreds of years, or even involve post-nuclear war activities. How is that profitable for a company, given that the vaults cost hundreds of billions of dollars? For example, a white noise experiment that requires an entire underground vault and a hundred years of data? Also, how could they collect and use all of this experiment data if the world is ruined by nuclear war and society largely gone? We know that Vault Tec is involved or even run by The Enclave, and they built them the good, non-experimental vaults. Did the Enclave care about any of the data gathered, or save it anywhere? The FEV experiments come to mind, but most experiments seem like a massive waste of resources. Or were the vaults as cheap and flat-pack/module based as Fallout 4's Vault DLC made them seem, then the company laundered the government-supplied money for Enclave stuff? Edit: it seems the consensus here is that The Enclave was using any data gathered from the experiments to see how humans would fare with space travel and the colonisation, by them, of other planets after the ruination of Earth. The vaults and their cost were easily paid for with insiders in the government/Enclave allowing whatever was necessary. Sounds plausible to me [link] [comments] |
Is it implied that Maxson’s Brotherhood of Steel take the generator from Rivet City? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 11:43 AM PDT There is a terminal entry in Fallout 4 from Ingram to Maxson staying:
The wording would make me imply it's referring to a specific aircraft carrier, one that the player has been to before, that being Rivet City. Is it implied that they took it from Rivet City or just some random aircraft carrier? [link] [comments] |
How much of the world is known to wasteland societies? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 08:16 PM PDT Title. How much of the world is known to average societies like the NCR? Is it common knowledge that there are other continents and lands far beyond where they live? Do they use old world maps and globes? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Oct 2020 08:29 AM PDT Is there any evidence that as of the time of new Vegas, the NCR has these laws in place? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Oct 2020 09:15 AM PDT I'm thinking about staging some kind of heist in a Rp thing, and I was wondering what targets in new Vegas would make actual sense. Obviously the casinos are an option, but what else? [link] [comments] |
Would there be thirteen commonwealths in the USA? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 10:27 AM PDT |
Why are Bottlecaps standard currency? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 10:06 AM PDT So Nukacola Bottlecaps are the currency used in almost all the game's locations, but why is that? Yes they are super common, but wouldnt more societies try to make their own new currency? [link] [comments] |
What was living in the central NCR actually like? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 08:15 AM PDT Was it reasonably safe? Was water readily available? Were raiders and criminals a big problem, or was there a decent degree of law and order? Was it like diamond city but the size of LA, or was it like more like freeside? Were jobs readily available? Was there an education system? Small business schemes? Was there a plentiful amount of food? Were consumer products common? Was there a healthcare system, or at least government healthcare schemes? Were benefits a thing? Did the disabled get support? Were there pensions? Or old folks homes? What was infrastructure like? Were police militarised? Answers for or insight into any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to get a clear picture of the NCR because I'm currently involved in role playing a character from there [link] [comments] |
Why do people think the brotherhood is bad? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 01:07 PM PDT I really just don't understand it, 99% of arguments against them are debunked via lore, can someone provide concrete proof of their so called total unjustified evil? [link] [comments] |
Does anyone actually know what the Nuka Cola flavors tasted like? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 02:21 PM PDT I'm aware of all the different flavors existing but do they have like a terminal or book containing what the flavors were actually supposed to be? [link] [comments] |
How did the institute expect to get the sole survivor to the institute, if they needed the back up? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 05:26 PM PDT You wake up watch your S.O. Get Murdered and your baby kidnapped, then seconds later, the sand guy gets you out and you don't fight to the death to get your kid back who for all you know was seconds ago? [link] [comments] |
What is the point of Pip-Boys? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 12:52 PM PDT We know they were given to Vault residents by Vault-Tec, but why? If most of the vaults were just simply cruel experiments where the residents were in serious danger, why spend valuable time and money creating them? The only reason I've came up with is that they were a marketing tool, as referenced by the pre-war pip-boy advertisement in Fallout 3, but that can't really be the whole justification behind it, right? Why was the Enclave so hostile to mainland humans? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 10:50 AM PDT The Enclave hating super mutants and ghouls makes sense, but why would they also hate the mainland prime normals as well? There's literally no difference between the two, and the game shows this. a) Humans from the "irradiated" mainland can apparently easily infiltrate the Enclave, as shown by the Chosen One, as well as vice verse (As shown by A. Ron Myers and Doc Henry, amongst others). This shows the difference between the two are almost non-existent. b) The FEV-Curling death virus thing kills both humans on the oil rig and those not on the Oil Rig. The Enclave themselves have to be inoculated against it, showing that humans across Earth aren't genetically different. What the Enclave should've logically done is swooped down in NCR, with all their fancy tech, and help rebuild civilization together, side by side. Maybe eradicate some mutants, but certainly not humans. [link] [comments] |
