The state of rock music in the Fallout games?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 07:21 PM PDT

Recently while playing Fallout 76, I've been noticing many more references to rock music than in previous games. I'll list the three main examples here:

    1. Wouldn't it be Nice on Appalachia Radio

    2. The mention of rock music being banned in Watoga prior to the Great War

    3. The inclusion of the Raider Punk as a new ally in Wastelanders

Given the fact that we know that punk music existed in the pre-war Fallout universe, we can also assume music continued to be developed until the late 1970s/early 1980s. So what happened to pre-war rock records? And why does jazz seem to be far more popular than rock music?

Possible explanation for the Courier's lack of knowledge of the current state of affairs in the West

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 12:51 AM PDT

As many of you know, we're presented with options of asking various characters in the Mojave about the state of the war between the Legion and NCR, the state of politics in the NCR proper, and about what life is like back in California. One of the early prominent characters is Ranger Ghost, who let's us know about the trouble with Brahmin barons and Big Circle.

However, with the release of Lonesome Road, we were essentially presented with the fact that the Courier had been in cities all around the West and had been working as a Courier in the area for a considerable amount of time, surely enough that they would be familiar with both the internal politics of the NCR, and with the Legion-NCR war. There's also a dialogue option with Bruce Isaac that confirms that they've been in New Reno.We even learn that the Courier had a significant part in the fate of the Divide. But, based on dialogue we can have earlier in the game, it can be assumed that the Courier is rather ignorant of the situation around them.

However, I've come up with a rather simple explanation for why that is: Amnesia. Getting shot in the head twice certainly impaired cognitive functions to the point where the Courier was bed-ridden, possibly in a coma, for days. I don't think it's a stretch to say the Courier's knowledge of the post-War world was significantly lost by the time they woke up in Goodsprings.

Does it ever say anywhere that Driver Nephi used to be a Mormon? In a game with several prominent Mormon characters, that name can’t be a coincidence, right?

The Second Divide and It's Timeline

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 06:44 PM PDT

I've been looking through a few posts, wikis, and the game for some help to the question but I can't seem to find it. When did the Second Divide happen year wise? I've seen someone say 2277 but I don't see anything referencing that. Any help would be appreciated.

What was the prevalence of Pre war religions?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 09:38 AM PDT

We know that Hubology existed and that the Mormon church was alive and well. I believe there are two all faiths chapels, one in diamond city and the other in Rivet city. But other than that religion seems to have fallen to the wayside in pre war America.

There are wrecked pre war chapels in the wasteland, but they don't seem to have any religious symbols. In fact I don't believe there are really any religious symbols anywhere in the wasteland.

Do you think there is a lore reason for this? Did religion nearly dry up? Or is this merely a decision by the developers to avoid controversy and connections to the real world?

Aside from honest hearts which almost seems like it was written to promote Mormonism there is very few references or indications of pre war religions. I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject

    Who is the bucket head?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 10:25 AM PDT

Could not find anything legit when I searched.

In 76. When you sneak around super mutants. They always say (not verbatim) "I wish a bucket head show up, I rip his limbs right off"

What is a bucket head? I want to think they are talking about me or other humans but why am I a bucket head? I don't see anyone wearing any buckets as helmets or anything similar. Who is the bucket head!

Is there any lore behind this? I played FO3, FO4 and I can't remember any reference to bucket heads.

Maybe they just hate the musician?
