How organized are the Raiders of the Commonwealth compared to DC Raiders?

Considering in the Capital Wasteland there is only one massive raider base of note, Evergreen Mills, and even then it seems rather slapped together with rubber bands and bubble gum, while in the Commonwealth the raiders have countless massive bases, the Combat Zone Raiders, the Forged (incidentally the only Raiders in the Commonwealth not just generically labelled "Raiders"), the Corvega Factory, I could go on. Hell, considering the fact that Sully Mattis and his mediocre crew of Raiders can turn a flooded quarry into a full on Raider base with several shacks at every córner within 24 hours of the pump being fixed should speak levels to the amount of organization and "work" the raiders put into their parasitic lifestyle, at least compared to Fallout 3, where they are mostly just roving bands of 3-5 crackheads with Chinese Pistols. If it wasn't for the fact that each Raider base is meant to represent a singular "gang" and not a monolithic united raider faction, they'd easily takeover the entire Commonwealth.

Was Colonel Autumn really a villain?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:55 AM PDT

He didn't believe in the genocidal xenophobia that the majority of the Enclave believe as we can clearly see he was willing to let wastelanders work for him if they were skilled, like that one scientist lady who was part of project purity. When the LW speaks to them he states that the purifier will cause the American people to flock to the Enclave and give them legitimacy to finally begin restoring the government. He is genuinely shocked and in denial when the LW tells him that President Eden plans to use the virus We can clearly see that Autumn held the loyalty of the Human members of the Enclave as only the robots side with Eden during the small Civil War in Raven Rock, had he survived he would have transitioned the Enclave into a respectable faction that works with people instead of attempting to genocide them all. Autumn is a true American patriot, if only we could have supported him instead of that pathetic brotherhood with their old t45's.

Why was David Thorpe so successful?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:45 PM PDT

One of the things I don't understand about Fallout 76's lore is why the mountain raiders were so successful. Thorpe, though a charismatic businessman from before the war, may have been an effective leader, I don't get why they didn't meet a violent ending sooner.

I mean, dude was a loose cannon who murdered hundreds of people because his girlfriend got captured (yes I know he thought she was killed). Those actions caused some of his own gang, the Cutthroats, to leave. Like, why didn't others turn on him sooner? I know Olivia turned on the Order of Mysteries and whatnot, but the Brotherhood and Responders should have been more than a match for the raiders, who had to steal from others to survive and were incapable of producing anything for themselves.

The Enclave was ultimately what proved Thorpe's much deserved demise (and boy am I happy he and his gang suffered). I especially like how his fate wasn't death, but losing his humanity. Meaning he still feels pain but has no higher cognitive functioning. I mean, we've seen in other cases where unbalanced leaders (like Caesar) tend to get "removed" from power by those wanting a more stable leader. And Thorpe wasn't stable given his obsession with Rose.

Honestly pisses me off how the raiders didn't suffer a worse fate in the game, since they flee the Scorched and destroyed the Flatwoods settlement. Anyone got accounts from Appalachia of the raiders suffering badly?

Why do people live in The Den?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 08:16 PM PDT

The Den is literally one of the worst places in the fallout world. It's all drugs and slavery and gangs and poverty. My question is, why do people even live there? I'd think people would try and get a caravan outta there

What’s happening in the Central United States?

I've watched and read into quite a lot of fallout lore but I don't think I've come across anything on Central America. I could be completely missing something but let me know

What is sanitation like in the wasteland?

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 12:13 AM PDT

I would assume there's major differences between the west coast and the east. The west coast isn't a "I gotta do all I can to survive" type of place anymore, so I would assume they would prioritize other things like their cleanliness.

On the east I would assume it's a far different tale since everyone is scrounging to survive, and the last thing I need on my mind when I'm trying to not get shot by raiders is my body odor.

So is there anything telling us that people are starting to go back to old world traditions and looking after how they smell and appear?

Are any NPCs we encounter 'enhanced' like Kellog was in Fallout 3 or New Vegas - explicitly or implicitly?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 10:20 AM PDT

Specifically thinking of the implants that can be installed in NV, do we ever meet an NPC that had those done? Do we learn about one that had it done but doesn't mention it? I can't think of any examples
