    Drew this...What do you think?

Which is the business/character that gives you a % of their profit every day

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 10:27 AM PDT

I'm on my first full playthrough of NV and I remember meeting someone a while back who agreed to pay me a % of their profit everyday. I just can't remember who. I think it was in Freeside. I've searched online but not been able to find anything.

At this point I don't even really care about the caps, it's just frustrating me that I can't remember. Thanks!

Is there a max item carry limit in NV?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 08:13 AM PDT

I'm talking about an unmodded game & when you're encumbered - not the max carry limit before becoming encumbered. Do we know at what number of items or weight the game glitches or doesn't allow you to pick up anything else? I'm sure there's some theoretical limit based on the game's coding. I'm thinking about doing an encumbered run (to fulfill all my hoarding desires) & I play on console & don't like modding. I know, I'm a masochist.

    Problem with body mods

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 08:02 AM PDT

None of the body mods that I've installed work properly, the textures come out all merged and disgusting and there's tattoed underwear in the private area, I've done some research about this and apparently I have this bug because I'm using Vortex. (and yes I have ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated) I'm too stupid to use any other modding app for Fallout NV, and I'd like to resolve this mod issue, please help me.

    Arcade or Boone?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 12:12 AM PDT

Me and a friend at work argue about who is the better companion to have.

I personally have Arcade due to his healing perk, nice pew pew gun he carries and cool personality.

Friend likes Boone due to his long range effectiveness and perk.

I'm just curious which one is better in your opinion?

"I put a spell on you" quest fuckery

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 09:49 AM PDT

So I got the "I put a spell on you" quest from Camp McCarran and it was all going well, but now I am supposed to catch the spy at radio tower at night. As I enter the tower, I can't hear any talking and I get attacked as soon as I get a little closer to him. Because of that I can only kill him and I don't know about the bomb until I talk to Hsu but then it's too late to diffuse it. Am I doing something wrong?? Or is that a known bug?

Can I store items in random buildings?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 12:38 AM PDT

Playing hardcore with a guns character and I've currently got weapons and ammo stored at the lucky 38 and novac. I want to set up safehouse around the Mojave in uninhabited buildings to change my loadout. Can I safely store items there without them disappearing?

How to run heavily modded New Vegas in Linux via Lutris/WINE

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 04:24 AM PDT

I've got the odd eight hundred plus hours into this game, so you might could say I'm a bit of a fan. And I'm really into modded FNV, I think I might have beat the game once before diving headlong into the modded community. I also love running Linux. Mint, in my case. And I wanted all of these to work together.

Finally, I have accomplished this. But before we do this dive, a few caveats I want to make clear:

    • First off, you won't be able to use the native Steam launcher and Proton. Yes, New Vegas works just fine in it. However, the mod manager we'll be using doesn't like talking to it. I tried, Robert House as my witness, I tried, but I just couldn't get it to work
    • I use Lutris instead of PoL because I consider it to be a superior and generally more worthy successor for a user-friendly experience, however the same tricks can easily be done within PoL as well.
    • By 'heavily modded', I mean 100+ mods running, including the 'big boys' like Project Nevada, AWOP, EVE, and WMX all working happily together and playing nice. Yanno, in addition to all the 'fix Bethesda's buggy code' stuff. To the best of my knowledge, you can just go nuts with this.

    Here's how:

    1. Get Lutris. Install Mod Organizer 2 from the script. Run the install script.
      1. Change WINE to vanilla WINE. Not Protonified, not Lutris. Any version after 4 should work.
      2. Configure WINE to add a library override for vcruntime140_1 (native, builtin) (the script installs vcredist2019 but it requires this extra library override to function properly)
    2. Install windows version of steam in the same bottle as MO2. I don't know if winetricks lets you do this anymore, so you may have to just download the windows steam installer and in Lutris select MO2 and use the 'Run EXE inside wine prefix' button.
    3. Install Fallout: New Vegas with this version of Steam within your MO2 bottle. Run it once to generate your .ini files.
    4. Download the latest version of NVSE and unzip into the Fallout New Vegas folder in your MO2 bottle. You don't need to run nvse_loader.exe, just make sure it is present.
    5. Download the 4 GB Patch. Unzip to the Fallout New Vegas folder, and run through Lutris by using 'Run EXE inside wine prefix'. It should also recognize that NVSE is present and automatically modify the FalloutNV.exe file accordingly with no further action needed.
    6. If you plan on running TTW, this is where you install Fallout 3 in an identical manner to how you just did NV. If not, continue to next step.
    7. Now, after having done all that, you can run Mod Organizer 2, point it to the proper directory within the MO2 bottle, and may begin modding your instance as per usual.
    8. When you run the game from MO2, make sure you select 'New Vegas' instead of 'NVSE' as the executable. The 4 GB Patch we applied earlier modifies the FalloutNV.exe file to not only recognize that it can use more RAM, but it also automatically runs NVSE for us as well.

    Known Issues

    • Because you are likely running a web browser that your system uses instead of WINE, you can tell Nexus to associate MO2 with the downloader all you like, but I haven't been able to actually get it to *work*.
    • When Steam opens, it will probably look blank, as a result of the new UI not working very well. Fortunately, you don't need to do anything in steam other than have it open for DRM reasons.

So far, this seems to be working flawless for me. This is, in my opinion, even superior to using Lutris to try and use Vortex since Vortex installer requires some really janky 'you must disconnect your computer from the internet for this step' because some update for Vortex borked up WINE compatibility in some way and it will automatically update before you have a chance to tell it not to.

You don't have to keep New Vegas installed in your native Steam distro, it only needs to be installed in the WINE version that MO2 uses.

MO2 doesn't require .NET, which is another reason I prefer it to the Vortex method, as it doesn't require janky 'trying to make .NET 4.x working in 64 bit WINE' tricks.

    In Conclusion

Well, there ya go. This worked for me. It may or may not work for you.
