Fallout | Joshua Graham isn't good

Fallout | Joshua Graham isn't good

    Joshua Graham isn't good

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 07:38 AM PST

I've never understood peoples love for Joshua Graham. He was a huge asshole and only became "good" when his asshole friends betrayed him for failing them. I imagine if he won at hover dam he would have continued to be a bad guy. All he does for redemption is find Jesus. He then turns around and tries to kill people trying to join with his ex friends (self defense or not)

I will admit his design and voice actor is fucking amazing

Edit: I may have worded this wrong I meant "good" as moral. I absolutely love Joshua and fully understand why he is beloved

TIL Liberty Prime was originally intended to be so massive that you were suppose to be able to enter his head to ride along as he laid waste across DC.

In the Fallout 4 opening cinematic, what is the scene with the two boys and the crater supposed to be/represent?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 01:57 AM PST

I understand every other clip/scene in the opening cinematic, except this one, and frankly I've never understood it.

The clip I'm talking about begins at about 1:50 into the cinematic, and ends at about 1:56. It shows 2 kids, presumably little boys, surrounded by power lines in what appears to appear either a power junction/relay or some sort of warehouse district. One boy has a toy rifle slung over his shoulder, and there's a bike in the background. Both kids are on the ground surrounded by rubble, and appear to roll into a crater or hole of sorts while a dog jumps over it. There appears to be smoke rising from the crater. It is also accompanied by Nates narration saying "the, in the 21st century, people awoke from the American dream".

Everything else in the opening cinematic is pretty clear cut and dry to me, except this. I don't understand what it's depicting or what it's supposed to represent. What am I missing here? Am I just stupid or is this scene confusing to everyone else too?

Is Robert House the only FNV character referenced in Fallout 4?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 03:34 PM PST

Deacon mentions winning Mr. House's personal security access codes in a poker game.. which is kinda insane like who tf had those to begin with? I'm wondering if House is the only character from FNV referenced in Fallout 4? I wouldn't be surprised considering he was actually pre-war and it would make sense for some people on the East Coast to know about him

Fun Fact, In Fallout Brotherhood of steel, Bawls energy drink replaces Nuka cola, due to product placement

Which villain had the best motivations?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 04:16 PM PST

The Master wants for humans to evolve into one race, one able to withstand this harsh new world created by those he seeks to turn into mutants.

The Enclave wants to commit mass genocide against those it's considers mutants in order to restore the country to it's former glory days.

The Legion wants to unite the wasteland under one nation that will strip people of their cultural identities and make them focus on the greater good.

The Institute wants to create a utopia, a new society that breaks away from the above ground wastes and maintains order within itself.

If I were the Master I would have turned the Vaults into farms for untainted human stock.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 08:57 PM PST

That way the sterility problem of the Super Mutants could be bypassed by forcing the humans to reproduce free of radiation exposure and having the produced humans plucked out and converted once old enough. Then more Super Mutants would be created until the reproduction problem was solved.

    Thoughts?

What is everyone's favorite NPC's from any of the games?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 01:45 PM PST

    Mine include

Ulysses (I find his backstory badass and he seems very self aware of everything going on)

DOG/GOD (thought the struggle between them was very cool and he seemed like a very tortured soul)

Arthur Maxson (seeing him in FO3 compared to 4 and just seeing how he has become a general is interesting)

Veronica (I felt bad for her and understood her loyalty for the BOS)

    Raul (funny and unique character!)

Decided to replay Fallout 3 after over a decade. Are there any miscelanious items I should be collecting on my way?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 01:01 AM PST

You know, like in New Vegas you discover that plates, mugs, pencils, clipboards etc can be recycled in OWB and end up hoarding all the aforementioned junk to make weapon repair kits, cursing over the fact that you're halfway into your playthrough and skipped on picking up those mountains of junk you didn't know could be so useful.

Or shit like big whiskey bottles for making large wasteland tequilla, and various plants for crafting improved chems, that sort of stuff.

I remember Nuka Cola Quantum for some quest that gives you a grenade schematic, but that's all.

So, what else should I know about?

Similarities between Fallout 4 and Skyrim

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 09:49 PM PST

I am sure I haven't noticed all of the similarities between Fallout 4 and Skyrim, but I notice more and more as time goes by.

Elder Maxson is very similar to Ulfric Stormcloak: highly charismatic, "us vs. them" dogmatic mentality, anybody that's not appropriate in his worldview can go expletive themselves. Both leaders have an army of muscle behind them, and that army's soldiers are fanatically loyal to the leader.

The three major factions in Fallout 4 seem to conform to the three character concepts in Skyrim: BoS is Warrior, Railroad is Thief and Institute is Mage. Mages are not well-liked in Skyrim, and the Institute is not well-liked in the Commonwealth, (although I gotta admit Skyrim dislikes magic on superstition whereas the Institute has more than earned the Commonwealth's hatred.)

I always play good-aligned characters, so I confess I've never done Thieves Guild in Skyrim, but they put covert signs in places (like shops) just like the Railroad does in Fallout 4.

While the Civil War in Skyrim is different than the faction war is in the Commonwealth, the factions in both games have good people that can't agree with other factions due to political differences.

I am sure that's not all of it, but I thought I'd run it by you guys and see what you think. Hope you're having a good day.

How would you make or change Fallout 76's mechanics?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 08:06 PM PST

If you were able to improve or change Fallout 76's mechanics, how would you do that?

For example, what could they have done with VATs? Or base building (from what I hear, you have a blue print of your base and when you leave, you can paste that blueprint down again when you come back. While it's a good idea in theory, the problem is that not all the terrains are the same and there are hills and mountains and rocks and stuff, so it causes problems. LGR explains this better)

Perhaps VATs could actually have your gun track the body part or something. There could also be a "replay" mechanic for the cinematic aspect. Then again it's realtime so..Perhaps a 3rd person view with animation when you kill the enemy?

This is NOT about glitches or technical aspects. This is about actual gameplay mechanics.

    Legendary weapons. (Spoilers)

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 02:51 PM PST

So I'm farming the Nakano buried treasure, and I'm wondering if I should keep farming for a better weapon (really want a 2-shot missle launcher) or should i stick with my options: hitman's (damage bonus when aiming) hunting rifle, never ending 44 revolver, incendiary combat shotgun, VATS enhanced combat rifle, or a explosive combat rifle.

Fallout New Vegas Permadeath, should I mod or delete it myself?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 03:16 AM PST

I wanted some input from the Fallout community on this one. I'm a new streamer on Twitch and started my Fallout New Vegas playthrough last week. Someone in the chat brought up how interesting it would be to put on permadeath on my blind playthrough and it got me thinking. This sounds very appealing to me as I've always activated permadeath modes on games that had it like Grim Dawn.

My question is if you were personally watching a permadeath playthrough, would you prefer the player install a mod or delete the file on stream? I'm not experienced with modding and would prefer to just delete the file but if that breaks immersion I'll sit down and figure out how to install a permadeath mod.

    Thanks!

Fallout 4 not launch on steam

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 06:02 PM PST

I have Fallout 4 on steam, with all the DLCs except for the high-resolution textures.. I think, I might be missing another, but I have all the main ones. And I have disabled and uninstalled all my mods. But when I hit launch on steam, or just click the icon, it [Steam] freezes and then crashes. It wasn't doing so until I installed the Automaton and wasteland workshop DLC.

Getting started downloading mods on PC

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 01:42 PM PST

This will be my first time downloading mods on my PC so I was hoping to get some tips/advice.

I understand most people use Nexus Mod Manager, but when I went to download it I saw Vortex and it said it auto manages load order, making mod installation and usage easier. Does anyone have experience with Vortex over NMM?

Also what mods should I use to better my experience of playing Fallout New Vegas (for the 4th time)?
