Why does Power Armor have so many "exposed components"? Posted: 14 Jul 2021 11:04 PM PDT I really don't know anything about modern armor construction, but it seems to me like there are a lot of spots on most power armors that really seem vulnerable. Most obvious is the breathing tubes on all 4 models (t-45, t-51, t-60, and X-01). Are they somehow bulletproof? I don't expect them being ruptured to really put the user at risk most of the time, but I feel like every time they went into combat those things would get shot and have to be replaced after, which seems impractical. This is largely removed in the X-01 model, however. The material made for the inner knee and elbow seems to be material, and I can imagine them getting shot to be a real problem, but also somewhat hard to prevent. Was 1 precise shot from a Chinese sniper enough to totally immobilize a PA leg, like some sort of 'Achilles Knee'? The later models especially seem to be really lacking proper coverage in the lower stomach area. I don't know exactly what that stuff down there does, but it really seems like it should be covered properly like the chest is. (side question - what's up with the 'crotch armor' on the X-01 and T-60?) Is the 'backpack' really as vulnerable as it looks? the t-60 has "ballistic canvas" bottles on the back for what I assume is oxygen, and then what might be a huge power cable running up and down the upper spine. The oxygen bottles seem like the breathing tubes - nonessential equipment that would have to be replaced over and over again. If that big cable is indeed for power, then it getting shot would be a really big deal. To save perhaps the most glaring weakness for last, the fusion core is just just punched in the back there, unprotected. The batteries on a TV remote are better armored than the FC on PA, despite being one of, if not the most, important components. I doubt FC's explode when shot, but I also doubt it will be able to absorb any meaningful damage before breaking and leaving the suit useless. Why isn't more of this stuff covered? Is it really a big weakness or not? [link] [comments] |
Why is the Divide geographically so weird? Posted: 14 Jul 2021 06:51 AM PDT In Lonesome Road when you arrive at the divide you're on the eastern end of it, but once you get out of the Hopeville silo your on the western end, going east. How is the bunker so vast? Then when you use the nuke in the Ashton silo control station, the Couriers Mile is created. The entrance there is in Hopeville in the west, but its map marker is on the northeast on the other side of the map. How does this make any sense? [link] [comments] |
How was the vault dweller still fertile after fo1? Posted: 14 Jul 2021 11:42 AM PDT idk it's just that wading into a radioactive hotspot and a lab centered around a virus known to sterilize people cant be good for you [link] [comments] |
Why didn't Canada just help the USA during the Sino-American war? Posted: 14 Jul 2021 07:42 AM PDT Considering the two nations were traditionally allies, and had no reason to NOT cooperate with each other (prior to the annexation of Canada), why didn't Canada help America? Did the Canadians WANT Alaska to be overrun by communists? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Jul 2021 12:22 PM PDT so we all know that the recharger rifle and pistol have unlimited ammo, only needing the ammo to recharge for a bit after use. and we also know that this achieved because the weapons use "microfusion breeder" cells as ammo. well i was watching a youtube video about a guy who tried to build a "breeder reactor" in his backyard. a breeder reactor being, in simple terms, " a nuclear reactor that generates more fissile material than it consumes". i recognised the term "breeder" pretty quickly from fallout new vegas, and i realised that there might actually be a reason as to why they can generate unlimited power. since a "breeder reactor" generates more power than is needed to create it (i could very well be wrong there, that statement even sounds like it goes against all laws of science but thats just how i perceive it), maybe the microfusion breeder cells function as like a mini breeder reactor, making more energy in the form of a laser blast than is needed to create said blast, so therefore you could assume the game is trying to portray that in the fact that it doesnt actualy use any ammo, it only needs to recharge (this recharge could be the build up of energy from the smaller amount of matter needed to create it) i know i probably couldve explained my point better, but i dont know that much about nuclear physics, so i tried to explain it as best as i could. also i know this is on the wiki, but its a very brief point at the end and most people probably never thought about it. Posted: 14 Jul 2021 05:49 PM PDT There's some concept art about an Institute Power armor in "The Art of Fallout 4", and I heard it was scrapped because it didn't make sense. [link] [comments] |
Why didn't the NCR just shell the Fort? Posted: 14 Jul 2021 07:25 AM PDT A couple of artillery volleys would flatten the Legion's scrap metal play fort. and the Dam is the perfect place to set the guns up. Why didn't they ever do that? Seems like an oversight [link] [comments] |
Is it ever explained how people make notes on a pip-boy? Posted: 14 Jul 2021 05:49 PM PDT Here's me, lying in bed about to go to sleep when this thought pops into my head. And now I can't stop thinking about it. Pip-boys don't have keyboards, how does the main character type out notes in their quest log? I'm pretty sure they can record sound onto memory or a holo disk/tape. Could it use an audio transcription system? [link] [comments] |

Question about vault 22 quest in fallout nv Posted: 14 Jul 2021 09:12 AM PDT Is the data that dangerous? As i understood only the pest control experiments caused problems so in this case it would be better to give the data to dr. Hildern since it would help with the crops and all, someone correct me if i am wrong please. I always had a hard time deciding what to do in this quest. [link] [comments] |
