People who get into stupid debates about factions, why? Go outside for once.

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 03:55 PM PDT

It's so fucking pathetic, getting into heated debates over the ethics of fictional factions. Come on guys, it's a tad childish no? The inability to separate the line between fiction and reality is textbook delusion. You entertain all these complex discussions about the politics and logistics of these factions, for what ultimate purpose? Larping as one group or the other, it's so painfully cringe to watch.

In the end, all these factions will become utterly obsolete when Dave establishes his glorious Pan American Empire. Every polity will pitifully crumble as Dave's suzerainty reigns supreme. Legion, NCR, BOS and any other pissant tribe that dares to oppose the Republic will become a forgotten footnote, lost to the annals of History. The only record of these worthless termites will be confined to the Museum of Dave.

So who cares about the nuances of the Legion, or the potential of the NCR, or the ideals of the BOS? These are just temporary distractions. What awaits us is far greater than anything these insignificant plebeians can offer.

So all hail the Republic of Dave, the only true sovereign nation in the wasteland, the only really civilized place left in the world.

My very first memory of Fallout.

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 04:14 PM PDT

I knock on my friends door and he rushes to open it. He is playing it in his room. I've never seen/heard of it.

I take a look at what's going on and there are three people suited up in black metalish armor all shooting at my friend. Explosions everywhere. A bomb flying off a launcher, a mini nuclear explosion. Arms flying off bodies. Then calmness. A two-headed cow running towards him. De-capuh-tated.

    A two-headed cow. A TWO-HEADED COW???

"What is this game?" I asked.

    "Fallout 3."

The Republic Of Dave , an Origin Story??

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 01:12 AM PDT

This has been weighing on my head for a long time. Who the hell inspired FO3's Dave, and the prior leaders of his community? Who do they represent in real life? I know the creative teams behind the Fallout franchise love to slap in pop culture, music and movie references in every game. I was inspired to share my "deep easter egg conspiracy theory" by the post u/Sochal_Distan_Singh created earlier about factions. Moving on… if this has been discussed before, my apologies. I searched this sub and didn't see anything on it. If this has indeed been discussed here somewhere, keep in mind I am an old man by most definitions, but please feel free to hurl your stale Squirrel On A Stick at me. Otherwise… get ready for this…

Pretty sure Dave is a reference to Dave Mustaine. See the album "Peace Sells, But Whos Buying?" and tell me the themes don't match up with Fallout 3 Dave's BS. Also search "Dave Mustaine hard to work with" or "Dave Mustaine Dictator". You'll get a feel of how he behaved during the first half of his career with Megadeth (and why he was booted from Metallica)... stay with me here... It comes together soon.

The prior community leaders before FO3's Dave are musicians that were involved (good and bad influences) in Dave Mustaine's career

Kindgom of Tom – Tom Araya from Slayer. Happened to be touring with Megadeth on the same bill in 1987 I believe, around the time "Peace Sells" was Huge. Look up the Megadeth "bible joint" story, and youll see exactly what that is about, which will bring you into...

Kingdom Of Larry - Larry LaLonde aka LerLalonde from Primus, before Primus most notably with the death metal band Possessed, who toured with Megadeth and Slayer early in their career. Possessed was often compared to Slayer, and eventually created a rivalry there. During a different leg of the tour, members of Possessed and Suicidal Tendencies tried to get Dave Mustaine too drunk to perform so their bands would have a chance to outshine Megadeth on stage. Here is your next rivalry.

Republic of StevieRay - if you don't get this without explanation well... go listen to better music. He was a HUGE influence on Dave Mustaine's guitar playing style.

Billsylvania- Referencing the Bill Lawrence Humbucker pickups that Dave Mustaine used in his BC Rich guitars.

Quinn is a reference to Paul Quinn of the early death metal band Saxon, who also had a huge hand in influencing Dave Mustaine / Megadeth. Side note, Quinn and Mustaine were both sponsored by Richter.

Crowley- a nod to Mr Crowley, a song that Mustaine openly loved and stated he was influenced by. Sidenote, Mr Crowley was written about Aleister Crowley, an infamous occultist that I am 99% sure also influenced some Megadeth songs.

The Republic of Dave is a Story about Megadeth's rise to fame.

So yeah, the republic of Dave is Metal as Hell. If you got this far, you are amazing.

Unrelated side note... TUNNEL SNAKES RULE!!!

Is there a unique trait that you give to all your protagonists in Fallout games?

For example, I always role play that my character hates mannequins, and is paranoid of them

Is there a theme between every fallout location??

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 06:03 PM PDT

Like why did they choose las Vegas, or Washington D.C, or California, or Boston, or West Virginia??? Is there a theme with the locations and could we predict the next fallout location by using this method of finding the theme?

With fallout 3's location it represents Americas politics and current status or structure and little bit of its past time.

With Fallout new Vegas's location represents Americas greed and gambling or other addictions.

With fallout 4's location represents Americas uprising or a start of nation and crime itself in America before the bombs hit.

With fallout 76's location represents Americas backyard or the naturistic part of America, also showing the corrupt part of the American government and the secrecy behind America.

I didn't include the locations of fallout one and two because Bethesda didn't make those games - also the theme might not include those games.

    Adamantium Skeleton Shirt IRL?

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 06:43 AM PDT

So I'm beginning radiation treatment in 2 weeks for neuroendocrine cancer. Was trying Google to see if there were any Adamantium Skeleton t-shirts I could order to wear to my 4 treatments and am having zero luck. Has Beth ever produced a shirt with that perk featured?

    TIA

Playing as a different species in the next fallout

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 08:33 PM PDT

Would love to see if I'm any way the developers could find a way to incorporate ways to play as a ghoul or a super mutant into the next game. Feel like it could open up a whole new world of opportunities as well as different play styles. Like super-mutants would be strong and durable but really slow. Ghouls would be weak but incredibly fast and completely immune to radiation. As well as different reactions from others like if you were to play as a ghoul or super mutant the brotherhood would not allow you to join. I don't know just seems like an idea

Brotherhood of steel keeps saving the wasteland of major crisis from occurring. Why do people hate them?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 12:02 AM PDT

Ever since the beginning. In Fallout 76 they fought the scorched threat, then a second chapter came and fought super mutant threat, in Fo1, after the chosen one deals with the Master, they continue to patrol the wasteland to eliminate remaining super mutants. In Fallout 3, the Lyons chapter fight the enclave head to head and try to assist in purifying the water for the wasteland, also in the Pitt DLC, they basically go into hell to erradicate all forms of mutated foul beings, with nothing to gain from it. In Fallout 4 they fight the institute who has condemned mankind above the ground as experimental creatures.

So what's the deal? They're basically a lawful good faction with a lot of discipline and rules that makes them stand out from the rest. Is it because they don't treat you like the perfect hero you are supposed to be until you prove yourself to them?

    Thank you in advance.

[Fallout 4] Door in Mass Pike Tunnel?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 03:36 AM PDT

Hi. I've been doing MacCready's companion quest which led me to Mass Pike Tunnel. I found some door in there named 'Mass Pike Tunnel'. I had to unlock the door with console commands (or use mass pike utility key, which I din't have and couldn't find it on google). Stepping through the door led me into another two tunnels (!) with a few matresses and a chemistry station. Going through, I found a door named 'subway station'. These required 'Murphy's clinic key' to open them. Using console, I got into a ruined station. There were lots of skeletons in flying ion their default poses (standing completely straight and stuff). Everything else there was kinda bugged, cash register clipping through the counters, overdue books clipping through metro seats. Going through the station, I eventually ended up infront of green 'Door'. While they were named only that, they were supposed to act as normal dungeon-switching door. Nothing happened when I pressed E, so I just headed back. This all left me wondering, are these doors part of some quest? If so, which one? Are they part of a mod? Among over 30 others, I run Tales from the commonwealth, may that be it?

Why are animals called the same thing on both coasts?

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 05:09 PM PDT

Like, i guess you could argue that Radroach and Bloatfly are pretty simple descriptive names, and that's why those are on both coasts, but Deathclaw and especially Yao Guai? I don't really get how apperantly people on both sides of the country went "yeah let's go with the Chinese names for the bear monsters"

[FO2] Canon ending to Fallout 2?

    Posted: 14 Jul 2021 05:43 AM PDT

Recently finishes FO2 and was curious as to wat was the canon ending to FO2? I also have some question regarding some parts of the game.

    1. Does the Chosen One have a son with Angela Bishop in the canon story?

    2. Is where do you guys think Cassidy goes after the game?

    3. Could the Chosen one still be alive? an badass old man perhaps?

Is there a list of "Speak as Shroud" opportunities?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 01:06 AM PDT

I've been combing YouTube and the Fandom Wiki pages for a list of all opportunities to speak as the Silver Shroud, but have yet to come across what I'm looking for. I know that the Shroud options are super cheesy, but I get a kick out of them, and want to figure out where I should carry/equip my Silver Shroud costume so I can use it on those dialogue options.

Okay, not judging by any means, but has anyone actually used those lame face tattoos from Fallout 4 magazines?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 03:47 AM PDT

I've personally found them pretty tasteless, and even though most of the clothing covers your entire body, I'd still choose body tattoos over face tattoos

Let’s have a debate about the Enclave

    Posted: 15 Jul 2021 03:20 AM PDT

I see a lot of people saying the Enclave likely still has bases and assets scattered across the wasteland, I see a lot of people saying the Enclave is dead and it's time for fallout as a franchise to grow beyond it.

Which side do you fall on and what's your best explanation as to why you pick that side?
