This game does absolutely not hesitate at all to kick you in the pants. I love it already.

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 11:06 AM PDT

So here's me, first playthrough. I have so far cold-bloodedly murdured powder gangers to the left and right in both Goodsprings and Primm, resolving their respective questlines. My next destination will be the Mojave outpost. I am going for a run-of-the-mill gun focused character with high luck and perception with about 40 gun skill. I decide to ditch the road and take the shortcut over the rocky desert.

Hoo boy, there are ghouls here. They look scary as shit but turn out to be complete pushovers as they have a 95% of getting their heads completely evaporated as soon as they come within range of my shotgun. There are rad Scorpions here as well. But they are even slower and a few shots from afar with my trusty pistols end their short and poisonous lives.

I spy with my little eye Giant Radscorpions. You probably know where this is going.

"They look tougher" I thought. "But considering the ease of travel i've had so far they can't be that bad." I thought.

Holy moly mackarell was I wrong. I soon detect that their shells seem to be made by BLOODY LEAD because MY WEAPONS DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I tried switching to the incinerator, but it didn't help. (I also might've accidentally set myself on fire with it kids don't use flamethrowers taken off the corpses of escaped convicts at home)

Second of all they seem to travel swifter than any courier no matter their agility can even dream of. They catch up to me and f***ing shank me in the matter of two strikes, they hit me like the trucks they travel at the speed of. And if that wasn't enough, I get to watch in slow-mo as they trample and defile my intoxicated corpse.

    Well

    ain't

    that

    a kick

    in the damn head.

This ain't no fallout three for sure. I even tried returning to these giant radscorpions after completing the REPCONN and Helios One quests and they still got me, like seriously why are the giant radscorpions so unbelievably impossible to kill? I still love the game though.

    Best introduction to new players?

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 10:37 AM PDT

Planning to show someone the game this afternoon. What kind of playthrough do you guys recommend for first time players if they want to have a casual and fun experience with the game?

    • Should I go for a humor and murder hobo thing or actually play the quests first?
    • Should we do side quests or stay focused on the main stuff?
    • Should I encourage them to try and book it straight for Vegas to be met with Cazadores?
    • What kind of Combat would be best? I feel like the game really wants you to do guns
    • How much advice and stuff should I give them and what kind of things should I let them figure out on their own?
    • Should I try and incentivise roleplay or just let them play it without thinking too much about that aspect.
    • What things do we definitely need to stop for? I definitely wanna do the Repcon Ghoul quest.

    Thanks for reading

Guide to getting all the unarmed techniques

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 01:55 AM PDT

I'm wanting to do a fist-fighting build. To do this, I'm wanting to learn every single unarmed special attack.

As you can imagine, Caesar's Legion is the sort of black sheep in the list. I don't want to piss off the NCR and I still want the technique, which is not easy.

How can I keep the NCR happy while still learning the new technique?

Decided to hop on and try dead wind cavern on "very hard" difficulty, I used the advance laer and also had enclave armour on. Also had Arcade and Ed-e with me, we flew past this area lol.

Tips to get the platinum? (no spoilers please!)

    Posted: 21 Apr 2021 04:42 AM PDT

Just got the Ultimate Edition on PS3. Any tips for getting the platinum besides the obvious (saving constantly, saving before key quests, etc)? Looking specifically for tips around builds or items to go for first, but also anything you can think of. I'm new to Fallout - I played 4 for about 20 minutes once and I did the tutorial in NV when it came out on PC. Going to try and do one playthrough on Easy Hardcore mode but

Also, besides bundling all the DLC, are there any other bonuses the Ultimate Edition has that may help me out? I noticed some trophy guides saying that there will be differences depending on the version of the game you're using

My game has been a bit glitchy

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 10:09 PM PDT

So, In my playthrough for the NCR ending, I was trying to do 2 quests, Thing's that go boom and The One in the Ultra Luxe for the guys son. both are Glitched. Loyal is for some reason outside of Quarry junction and i cant talk to him because he'll get mauled to death by deathclaws and Marjorie wont spawn at the desk. I have tried waiting in-game days and it hasn't work.

If House won the battle of Hoover Dam, how long would you think it would take for the NCR to get annoyed with him and declare war on New Vegas?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 01:37 PM PDT

If you thoroughly support House during the New Vegas, then you thoroughly kinda support the NCR. And if you do that, the Legion loses the Hoover Dam... Hard. Caesar dies, Lanius is pissed. In 10 years we can assume Legion collapses into a civil war that would either end up changing the Legion forever or turning it into nothing but small bickering nations kinda like the Europe during the events that took place before the nuclear war of Fallout.
Meanwhile NCR with all its presence gets pushed back by the presence of Mr House. And we end up in this weird situation in which House expects NCR to bow down before him and support his capitalist pursuit of building like a space civilization out of the remnants of humanity present in the Mojave. But it's weird to me that the NCR would just allow him to do that. House isn't a nice guy. He doesn't respect democracy and he is basically using things like gambling addiction, sex and substances to steal the money of the NCR and then build like robots out of it. NCR by the events of New Vegas is a pretty developed nation that has somewhat dealt with its main problems like raiders or poverty. Or like world hunger or lack of water in its main territories. I can't imagine them just accepting House's rule and sooner or later being like... "House, we are tired of your shit, give us your stuff. You're getting annexed whether you like it or not". If Legion would have Caesar survive, and Lanius be a wise leader after his demise... Of old age that is. Then maybe we would get it to be an equal match for NCR again. And with Legion looming over the horizon, even after the loss at the Hoover Dam, it would still be unwise to lose hundreds of NCR soldiers fighting the New Vegas, if... Legion was there. So...
But that's not the case. Legion gets destroyed pretty much after the won of House. So... I would expect NCR to start slowly shifting its attention to Mr House. And maybe declaring a war on him... 10 year later or perhaps 20? So, no space civilization for House. More like... Learn how to build this overpowered sentry bots) from Fallout 2.
