Timescale Contextualizes everything Posted: 09 Apr 2021 01:57 PM PDT Don't see this talk about much but was recently reminded of how when we take in the creation engines base 20x time scale it really puts the world in perspective. That 20 minute jog across the map, well in universe that's actually more like 400 minutes (or 6.6 hours). That Stimpack that heals 30% of your max heath over 5 seconds. It's actually healing 1/3 of your wounds in just over a minute, and so on. Honestly with the time shenanigans of VATs its hard to keep in mind that in universe you actually moving 20x faster, but of course that introduces some fun brain scratches like making conversation actually painfully slow when stretched out to "real time" but still the Time Scale Modifier when taken in context makes some of the more unrealistic things make a bit more sense. Posted: 09 Apr 2021 11:16 PM PDT So like many others I am confused as to what Ulyssess end goal is. I have watched a few videos on youtube, to better understand his behavior, although for the most part it seems to me that most of Ulysses actions aren't out of some overarching belief or plan in the greater good, but out of spite and hate for the Legion, the NCR, and the Courier. He claims that with the NCR and the Legion gone the people will be able to forge new nations, yet he has no long-term plans on how to build these new nations. And he has no justifiable reason to oppose a House-ruled or a independent Mojave, except some vague belief that the people under such nations won't be able to prosper or rebuild civilization. IMO, though I think the real reason he is opposed to these factions is because of their association with the Courier. In all honesty, I know the game was trying to set him up as some sort of ultimate rival and a foil to the courier, but he comes off more as some kind of omnicidial maniac or loon who wants revenge on anyone he has perceived to have wronged or slighted him masquerading as some kind of righteous philsopher. And what exactly were the views Avellone were trying to express throught Ulysses? At least with Kreia and the other characters were straight-talkers which helped get their message across: "the force is bad, the jedi are no better than the Sith" etc. But with Ulysses his rhetoric was so obscure, and cryptic it was kinda of hard to make heads of tails of what he was thinking, let alone what Avellone's thoughts were. Could some please help me better understand this? [link] [comments] |

A question about travel in fallout Posted: 09 Apr 2021 08:41 PM PDT So I'm kinda a noob in terms of fallout lore, I've played all of fallout 4, seen bits and pieces of fallout 3 and new Vegas. Now with all that out of the way I have a question, why are there no mounts in fallout lore? Like I know there's brahmin but wouldn't it beneficial to domesticate some animal meant for riding sk you dont have to walk anywhere? (Like a radstag maybe?) Sorry if this comes up somewhere I am unaware. [link] [comments] |
Power Armor running through fusion cores in 4 makes sense. Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:38 AM PDT In fallout 2 there is a conversation with the Brotherhood where they mention the batteries (what would now be fusion core) in power armor would only last 200 years, Fallout 4 takes place roughly 210 years after the great war, What use to be a portable unlimited power supply that ran on nuclear power ,like everything else, is degraded to the point of fumes now. Really its the BOS fault for never investing the time to make new batteries for their signature gear given they knew this all the way back. [link] [comments] |
What was the year when the raiders started from to when they all died out Posted: 10 Apr 2021 12:57 AM PDT It doesn't seem like a lot of people really care about the old Time Raiders, I am actually a huge Gourmands fan and I'm trying to role-play as a last surviving Gourmands but I want to know but my characters age would be if I started with the Gourmands at 21. What are the mole miners and where do they come from? Posted: 09 Apr 2021 05:11 PM PDT Like seriously. What? Edit: thanks so much for clearing this up! [link] [comments] |
Why did Shaun decide to make the Sole Survivor the director of the Institute? Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:33 AM PDT It just seems like he's pretty quick to throw them out on their ass if they save the synths during The Battle of Bunker Hill. What is it about sending the synths back to the Institute that makes him want to name the Sole Survivor the director if he's willing to banish them that quickly? [link] [comments] |
