Why are Fawkes and Strong not attacked the second they enter a settlement or town?

Considering how huge of a problem mutants are on the east coast and the rarity of nonviolent mutants in the east it's strange that these companions aren't outright attacked while uncle Leo says he's often shot at by wastelanders. I've always assumed this was just a gameplay choice and that the wasteland cities and brotherhood of steel would shoot first and ask questions later but I'm interested in other ideas for why these mutants are largely left alone.

Why was everything so heavily guarded pre war?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 12:36 PM PST

It occured to me that almost every single building has terminals that mention new turrets, robots, or other drastic security measures. What is up with that? They would obviously be in places like Repconn and Robco, but why in simple office complexes?

    Can Kellogg Use VATS?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 12:58 AM PST

Ok, I know this won't have a 100% answer through lore so I hope this is still allowed. I was just playing through a new character today and all of a sudden it clicked for me that I think there are supposed to be hints that Kellogg might be able to use VATS. My evidence:

*We know that the Institute has given Kellogg enhancements to increase battlefield effectiveness

*The terminal in the Institute that says that some Gen 3 Synths/Coursers have advanced perceptive and analytical capabilities which are very analogous to VATS

*Dr. Amari says that Kellogg's hippocampus has a neural interface and that much of Institute technology is very similar, so we can posit that the neural interface might have similar capabilities to the aforementioned upgrades in Synths

*He also has a cybernetic limb actuator which could connect to the neural interface and provide a mechanical explanation for how VATS actually works for him (by using the interface to automatically make adjustments for aiming)

*His revolver has a unique effect which only affects VATS

*In his stock room in his Diamond City house he has orange mentats, the only affect of which is to enhance VATS accuracy

*This unique ability would explain why he has such a fearsome combat reputation despite being otherwise just a man with some enhancements. People seem to treat Kellogg with the same gravitas as a courser, and it would make sense if it was due to similarities in enhanced analytical and assistive combat technologies

    What do you think?

How on earth did far harbor get so irradiated?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 03:13 AM PST

The war while it reached the us mainland we see no evidence of strikes around far harbor so how did it get so irritated?

Why in hell did Paladin Rahmani want to lose contact with Lost Hills?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 11:14 PM PST

What the hell was she thinking? "Oh we can take in the schorched now with out backup" Have you seen glazed caverns. Has she seen what a single schorchedbeast can do? What were her motives for that final part in the Enclave Bunker?

Are the Gunners a mercenary group or a military?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 01:55 PM PST

In game there is a terminal which alludes to higher ranking officers in the Midwest which to me indicates they have the logistics and leadership to expand their territory. They're very well armed with energy weapons and pre war combat armor and even have control of a vertibird in one area of the commonwealth. However we also see them as guards for a travelling merchant.

Why are the supermutants in fallout 4 and 76 not that intelligent?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 09:38 AM PST

Neil in new Vegas clearly states that most of the mutants are as intelligent as most humans.

What's the most lore friendly difficulty for each Fallout game?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 08:25 PM PST

I'm playing Fallout 4 for the first time, and I shot a Gunner in the head with a pretty heavily modified sniper rifle, and it only took about half of his health down, so I'm curious, what's the most lore friendly difficulty for each game?

If anyone wants to know specifics, I'm using. 308 ammo, playing on normal difficulty, and I'm level 21.

In Fallout 3, why do Enclave officers wear their uniforms instead of power armor?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 11:06 PM PST

With Autumn, I can understand, since he's the commander of their forces, but the standard officers are deployed into a wasteland full of hazards along side their PA-wearing subordinates, and fight alongside while wearing cloth? Really?

    Who won the Great War?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 10:08 AM PST

Pretty basic question here. Fallout 4, China strikes first with nuclear bombardment, but did we strike back as well or did we not get the chance to? And if other pieces of the world weren't in this war, shouldn't they be thriving as societies right now?

Question about October 23rd and the field trip

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 08:29 AM PST

As we know from Little Lamplight, a fourth grade class from Early Dawn Elementary School was on a field trip. Sounds normal, right? That's until you realize October 23rd, 2077 is a Saturday. Perhaps it's answered somewhere else, but why on earth was a school having a field trip on weekend?

Do the Gun Runners and other companies only produce pre-war designs?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 03:43 AM PST

Exactly what it says on the title. Do companies such as the Gun Runners only produce pre-war designs or do they make their own? If so what are some examples?

What is up with feral ghouls? Seriously? How could a flabby, melting blob of flesh that can barely move on its own kill literally anything?

    Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:06 AM PST

Melee damage done by ghouls in F4 and 76 is annoyingly high, charred feral ghouls can and will murder just about anything.

It's very unbelievable that one ghoul can completely annihilate someone in full X-01 power armor.

In most games the NPCs are deathly afraid of these weak fleshbags with their faces melting off. The entire presentation of "look how irradiated and sad this thing looks, it's so weak and its skin has fallen off" conflicts with the games making them able to bitch slap you into next week.

    Pick one, Bethsda.
