Is the ncr gold reserves being destroyed ever mentioned in game?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 02:21 PM PDT

so I was doing some digging and it occurred to me from what I have read that nowhere INGAME does the reason for the ncr going back to fiat currency exist, the explanation that the brotherhood destroyed their reserves comes from forum posts supposedly by josh sawyer. Am I correct or is there a line ingame?

Why is the Gauss rifle in Fallout 4/76 different from the ones from Fallout 3 and New Vegas?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 02:34 AM PDT

In fallout 3 the gauss rifle was a prototype iirc and functions completely different from the fallout 4 one. Are these two different models of the same gun or just something different?

Implications of the Deep Range Transmitter in the hands of the Brotherhood

    Posted: 29 May 2020 06:12 PM PDT

So, one of the first quests that a player can do in FO4 is help Danse and his squad to acquire a Deep Range Transmitter (DRT) from ArcJet and contact his pals back in the Capital Wasteland. Pretty standard inconsequential quest right ?

BUT, if you read the logs on the DRT, you will learn that it was designed for communications with a Mars Shot project, and it was almost working, but the Great War happened.

In fo76 we learn that Roger Maxson was broadcasting across America trying to get in contact with the remnants of the military, hence the BoS in Appalachia. But communications were cut short when the satellite they were using fell out of orbit (no commands or missions to repair its orbit were sent after the great war). Cutting national communications of the brotherhood.

So now, with access to the DRT the brotherhood can communicate across America (even the Globe actually). How do you guys think it will affect the Brotherhood going forward? (If they survive the events of FO4 of course ?)

Why is there such a fixation on genetic purity?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 09:22 PM PDT

Title pretty much says it all. Throughout all the games there appears to be at least one major faction (typically the established antagonist) pushing an argument that a better world involves some sort of natural selection/eugenics:

    • Fallout 1 has the Master attempting to create a literal master race and eradicate humans
    • Fallout 2 has the Enclave seeking to eradicate all "mutants"
    • Fallout 3 has the Enclave 2: Electric Boogaloo
    • Fallout 4 has the Institute creating their future through synths using "pure" genetic material. There's also the Brotherhood of Steel seeking to eradicate non-pure humans (synths, ghouls*, super mutants) to save humanity
    • New Vegas is more tenuous, but Caesar's Legion is kinda following some sort of natural selection ideology to produce the best warriors to lead the wastes forward while enslaving the "weak"

I'm curious if there is something in the lore to explain this common theme. At least in our timeline, these sorts of ideologies seem to occur because of a fixation on race-based distinctions (Nazi Germany, Rwanda, Balkans, etc.), but it seems established in the lore that Pre-War America was significantly less focused on race and more focused on "beating back the commies." Why is it that in Post-War America, which seems equally race-agnostic, we see this popping up so much?

    * I understand this is not a universally accepted position, but I'm going off the general opinion of BoS members in the Commonwealth. They certainly don't seem friendly toward ghouls.

If the BoS blimp is shot down in Fo4 is that it for them?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 11:06 PM PDT

Following them getting ass kicked by the NCR in the Mojave, would the failure of their Eastern branch effectively be the last nail in the coffin for them? Or are the ines hiding out in the mountains in the West still numerous enough to be threatening?

    What's the BOS end goal?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 08:01 AM PDT

What's the BOS end goal? Do they want to rebuild society like the NCR or do they just want to hoard pre war tech and be isolationists afterwards. I know the Capital Wasteland BOS are for the people but even they hide themselves away in the Citadel.

In Fallout 2 when bottle caps were replaced by coins, why is it that the sequel games that take place after it don't have coins and the sort?

Is there any holotapes, terminal or dialogue that speaks about a relation between the institute and vault-tec ?

    Posted: 29 May 2020 05:55 PM PDT

Was wondering because the institute is underground (their headquarters is just a big vault without a door), they know the location of vault 111 and what's the experiment going on in there, their techniques are pretty much the same as vault-tec's one (no consideration for human lives) etc

Why do deathclaws in fallout 4/76 look completely different

    Posted: 29 May 2020 01:40 PM PDT

When compared to any of the games before them, the deathclaws don't look like diablo, but I'm those two games they look like diablo. Is there any canonical reason that isnt just"Bethesda rebooted things and doesn't care to explain"
