Why does Ulysses still believe in the legion?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 09:47 AM PDT

He worked with the legion to take on the other tribes threatening his, the twisted hairs. And when it was all done, they were betrayed by Vulpes. So why would he still be loyal to the legion and still listen to Caesars orders? Why would he be more loyal to the legion than to the tribe that was betrayed and enslaved by them?

How did Ulysses know that it was your exact package that caused the nukes to go off and not some other thing?

Did David Thorpe know Rosalynn was alive in Charleston?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 09:32 AM PDT

From what I can tell, the Responders never had a chance to inform the Cut Throats of her capture. During an interrogation late Dec 24, the Responders mention 'Finding a way to get a message to David tomorrow'. The flood happened the next day, the 25th. Did David get the message? If so, did the Responders say that Rosalynn was alive?

Ultimately, Im trying to figure out if David knowingly killed Rosalynn. It seems that he loved her and was destroyed by her death, but why would he flood the whole city unless he knew for certain?

    The new currency from Wastelanders

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 07:54 PM PDT

The whole new currency storyline intrigues me, with all the gold from Fort Knox it is supposed eventually replace bottlecaps if I understand correctly. And stabilize the wastelands economy.

But in Fallout 3 and 4, roughly in this area, does not feature this currency, and it is never mentioned. People still use caps.

I understand these games were published before 76, but they happen later in the timeline. So what is the role of this currency in the timeline?

We know NCR in the west used gold and the reserves were destroyed by the BOS, what about Vault 79?

    Why is Lanius Caesars’s successor?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 11:34 AM PDT

Something I never quite understood is why Lanius is the successor to Caesar. Maybe someone can fill in the blanks for me or I missed some crucial information.

But from my POV, it makes no sense from a logical standpoint. We have several nonlegion NPCs tell us that the legion will crumble without Caesar because Lanius will run them into the ground. We can see that Lanius is a bit of a trash leader if he takes full command of the legion. So no disputing that Lanius is probably ending up a shit leader overall regardless of ending.

But my biggest issue is that Caesar himself says that Lanius is more of a tool or weapon and that he knows Lanius is more loyal to him than the Legion. With that in mind, and the fact that Caesar wields total power, why does Caesar even pick him as a successor when he considers him little more than a tool of war and even knows that Lanius doesn't really believe in the society Caesar is building.

Why not decree that Vulpes or Lucius or some other highly ranked member of the legion will rule in his passing? Why not have Lucius, Vulpes, and Lanius form a triumvirate like Rome of old did? Why not just kill Lanius once the battle is won and groom/choose a better suited leader?

I can sort of understand why he might be the de facto leader if Caesar dies before the battle since its wartime. But the way NPCs talk is that he's the presumed successor whether Caesar dies tomorrow or twenty years after his victory making it seem like he's the designated heir officially. An argument could be made that since the troops fear him so much, they'll fall in line with Lanius once Caesar is gone, but Caesar could also just order his execution or assassination once the battle is won right?

Caesar is a smart guy. Surely he has the foresight to see the flaws in leaving this guy who doesn't really even like the legion in charge of the legion if multiple other NPCs can see that from the outside. So I guess with all that said, why would Caesar even pick the guy to take his throne in the first place? It just seems to fly in the face of Caesar being portrayed as a cunning warlord if he can't even see the issue with leaving Lanius in charge.

Why are there anachronistic creatures from other parts of the wasteland present in West Virginia?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 02:56 PM PDT

Anglers, hermit crabs, gulpers, fog crawlers... Pretty much all Far Harbor creatures were ported to FO76, with seemingly no explanation (to my knowledge). What's the reasoning behind this, is there any explanation? WV is landlocked and those creatures exclusively evolved to adapt to Far Harbor's environment, so why are they here?

Why are mutant hounds in the game? Aren't those an institute invention? I know that super mutants are explained, but I have yet to find an explanation for the hounds that doesn't retconn FO4.

Did Vault-Tec and the Enclave monitor the experiments after the Great War?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 06:02 AM PDT

I know that the enclave and Vault-Tec went to the oil rig in the pacific but did they have the ability to actually use data from the vaults experiments? How would they have kept communications with overseers during nuclear apocalypse? Or were most vaults populated a couple months before the Great War went down? I know 76 did and I may be making this up but I feel like I've heard of others that were populated before. And the ones that weren't already populated they intended to populate before the bombs like 111. I just don't understand how communications for data on the experiments would hold up after the nukes.

Are the events of Fallout 76 Wastelanders canon?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2020 06:10 AM PDT

Because I found out when exploring RobCo's secret vault apparently Mr House canceled the whole vault thing, but what eggs me is I know this game isn't canon as YongYea pointed out but it still confuses me.
