Fallout: New Vegas | I just got this from Etsy right in time for Halloween and the local Comic-Con next month. It’s pretty well made, doesn’t get stuffy, the flashlight isn’t all that great but it’ll still light up a dark room, and the visor has RGB in it. All in all, it’s great and I just wanted to show you guys.

    Q-35 modulator blurry textures

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 10:13 AM PDT

For some reason in my latest gameplay, the q-35 matter modulator textures looks like these: https://imgur.com/a/NJHIPyd

It wasn't just the q35, after meeting the boomers I noticed that all their weapons where blurry too. I gave up on the idea of keeping that save file, I think something went wrong while messing with the lod textures and so the save file for some reason carries these problems, without lod mods the vanilla lod was broken, althrough I'd like to keep playing on it. Anyway today I did a clean install of the game, with fewer mods, I replaced vortex with mo2, I tested the missile launcher and looked fine, however the q35 was crappy again. I tested it again with all mods disabled, without any changes.

While writing this post I decided to uninstall everything again, the game and mo2, to do a third clean install, this time without ini, nvse, 4 gb patch, nothing, but yet nothing changed. I don't know at this point if it's just for this weapon in particular or even the others. Anyone have any idea on how I can fix this? Have anyone had the same problem?

p.s. what mod organizer would you recommend me to use?

Help wanted with installing NV mods - which to install first?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 08:00 AM PDT

    Hello friends of the Mojave,

    After about 4-5 tries to bring back my old New Vegas to its glory days of stable modding, I realized I really need some help and started this Reddit account. Basically, here's a summary of the recurring problems I've faced over the past few days;

    - The sky turns to ground/road textures

    - The NPCs won't respond/open dialogue menu/say even a word when talked to

    - Sunny Smiles, Chet, Delilah are red missing !s

    - I am a red missing !s

    - The start menu disappears. Replaced with an error message about Weapon Mod Menu

At the moment, I've clean sweeped (again) and I'm installing and testing the mods one by one. But I could use some help with which mods to install first, and which mods to install at the very last. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Not sure if it helps, but this was my load order before I clean sweeped;

    Moore repeating the same dialog

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 05:13 AM PDT

    Hello.
I was waiting to do the quest For the Republic, Part 2 for a while, but completed Oh My Papa and The House Always Wins (Omertas), and then when I went to the damn and to Moore's office, she was nowhere to be found. I checked the quest list, and it was greyed out. I used the command player.placeatme , and there she was. I talked to her and she told me about the Great Khans. I already sent the Khans out of New Vegas, so I told her they were no longer a threat. After that, the only dialog is questions and leaving. After leaving and talking again, she repeats the same thing as if I first met her. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Getting Into Fallout New Vegas: I get It

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 11:02 AM PDT

Here's my dirty confession of the day. For a long time, I preferred Fallout 3 to Fallout New Vegas. This is from when I played them on the Xbox360 I went through Fallout 3 first and it was my introduction to the big Bethesda RPG style of game. I've always been a fan of RPGs but that usually lent itself to more contained, tightly paced, and story-focused games. Games like Kotor.

So I played Fallout 3 and loved it. I was into heavy stat-based skill checks and the open world. Until this point, I tended to avoid open-world games for a reason that will be relevant later on. They were almost crippling and I've never been into the "Make your own fun" style of play that was mostly comprised of "I'll just go west and see what's to the west!" that is the bread and butter of Bethesda RPGs. Oddly enough, I didn't have this problem when I played Fallout 3 as the experience was quite directed and I always had a new town to find and a clear direction. I sunk around 100 hours into it (I know, a sample of these games) but I had the GOTY and I had a character so I did almost every mainline story thing I could.

Then I tried out New Vegas and it didn't click. Maybe it was the time I spent in Fallout 3 or maybe it was that I wasn't invested in finding Benny. I don't really know why but I put around 12 hours in and then just walked away from it. That was it. Every now and again I'd try to pick it back up hearing about how it was so much better than Fallout 3 but I just didn't see it.

I would try out other Bethesda games, Skyrim did almost nothing for me because I actively hated the gameplay, Fallout 4 finally had the gameplay but the world was small and it was streamlined to the point of absurdity. In the interim I found myself picking up the Mass Effect trilogy and falling in love and later on I'd discover The Witcher 3 and feeling like it was everything that Skyrim promised me. I had moved on from Fallout.

Then a steam sale came along and New Vegas was around $2 and Fallout 3 was about $5 for GOTY Edition. I had recently moved to PC gaming and was rebuilding the old library so I grabbed them both and immediately started up Fallout 3... unfortunately it wouldn't run on my PC because Bethesda sucks at making games. I wasn't able to get it working in the 2 hours before I could get a refund. So I returned it. Then I went back into New Vegas to give it another try.

After going into the Ini and turning off the horrific mouse acceleration that would have made the game unplayable I set out into the Mojave... and the same experience as last time. I put about 15 hours in and then just walked away. This was almost always shortly after making it to the strip, just as a side note. I went back to TW3 and back to Mass Effect.

Now with the news of The Outer Worlds and it actually being good along with Fallout 76 doing everything it can to see how much goodwill one game can burn I decided to find out why people seemed to love New Vegas so much. I started watching content around the game and really digging into it. I decided to approach the game in a way that I almost never do. Usually, I give myself very high Intelligence because I despise being locked out of anywhere I want to explore. This time I did the opposite, instead of guns I'd go Meele, and I'd do a low Int run with only 2 in the special slot. (Found out later that 1 gives the best dialogue options as you're basically a caveman) This gave each interaction the possibility for a really funny dialogue option that I'm excited to see and discover. (The conversation with Mr. Fantastic and his assistant is freaking hilarious) The Meele build also changes up the gameplay drastically from my original Fallout 3 playthrough.

I also committed to using fast travel as little as possible. I would do my best to adopt the "What's to the west?" approach. I think I might finally get it. The high speech and low intelligence gives the game a sense of humor that for me at least was needed beyond the dark stuff (Which I love) and I'm more likely to find that stuff because I'm more excited to talk to people to see if there's anything funny to say. I like my big dummy bruiser. I'm finding new things although I do wish there was a better sense of direction instead of the more freeflow discovery.

I've put around 15 hours into this dummy and I'm excited to put in more time. I'm on the strip and I don't want to stop yet, that's new. I'm excited to see where it all goes. I also did the reading on the different factions, although I don't believe the legion is as nuanced a choice as some people make them out to be, the choice between the NCR and Autocracy is interesting even if I will almost always fall on the side of a broken democracy over a functioning autocracy.

TLDR: Approaching the game in an entirely new way may have caused me to finally click with the game so that I can enjoy it. Low Int gives each interaction the chance for some great humor that I can't help but indulge and I'm not quitting like I normally do.

Just got the Ultimate Bundle on Steam: necessity of mods?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 08:51 PM PDT

    Hey all,

I just DLd New Vegas on Steam. I play through a Steamlink and I'm not very tech/mod savvy. I was wondering how easy/viable it is to just play entirely without mods?

My understanding was that once you install mods you can't launch it from the Steam client (which I think the Steam link might require), is this accurate?

Are there any mods SO worth it that I should grin-and-bear it and suffer through the trial/error/restarts that come from being a tech-dummy attempting them?

    HELP! ERROR OUT OF MEMORY!

Hey everybody. I'm modding New Vegas and every so often I'll boot up the game to test and see if things are stable and to test the current mods. But my game keeps crashing and I'm getting the message "Error, Out Of Memory." (i have 24gb of RAM btw) Attached are pictures of my load order and my plugins. Can I please get some help? I've already tried the 4GB patcher and stutter remover but that has not solved my issue. (IMPORTANT NOTE: The game runs fine when I am inside a building like Doc's house but once I leave, the error shows and my game crashes.) Again, please help! Ill be going to bed as soon as I'm done writing this post so if I don't respond, that is why. I'll be responding in the morning.

    Thanks luvs! TOODLES! <3

Help making modlist to get my friend to give NV another try

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 12:00 PM PDT

So, my friend tried NV a while ago, but never got out of Goodsprings. Mainly, desert environments making him kind of anxious, and the gameplay want engaging enough to get him into it. So, I'm putting together a modlist for him to give it another shot, since I'm confident he'll love the game once he gets a little farther. I'm looking for suggestions for rounding out a more 'vanilla plus' experience. Let me know if there's anything important I'm missing.

Edit: generally, I'd like to put the emphasis here on New Vegas's solid resource management mechanics, as opposed to treating it like a shooter. Mods that improve that are welcomed.

    Basic utilities, patches, etc.

    Visuals:

wasteland Flora Overhaul and Wasteland in bloom, to make things feel less dead and ease his anxiety. Realistic Wasteland Lighting, Impact, Eve, Some LOD improvement mod

    Gunplay:

Immersive hit reactions, Ragdolls, Just Mods Merged, Standard suite of ai improvement mods

    Other gameplay:

    Jesawyer, Cover stealth

    Other:

The strip open, Freeside open, Populated casinos

    Anything missing?

Is reverse pickpocketing armour based on DT?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 11:43 AM PDT

Having trouble reverse pickpocketing armour despite it being faction-less and a higher DT. The NPC is currently wearing a Metal helmet, reinforced (DT 4) and won't switch to the Combat Helmet, Reinforced mark 2 (DT 5). Anyone know the mechanics behind reverse pickpocketing? does weight come into it? quality?

Will Mr. House's tech and knowledge still be accessible if he is killed?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 04:49 PM PDT

I'm thinking it would be best if that tech and knowledge were in the NCR's hands and going to space and all that can still be accomplished yet probably nowhere near as fast, all while still keeping things like social services intact.
