Interesting non-cheat bug to use to remove hats for Veronica and Cass

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 09:32 AM PST

I did some digging and found this suggestion on some obscurely old forum post that I thought I'd share here. If you give Veronica or Cass a "ballcap with glasses" AND any eyewear (sunglasses, reading glasses, etc.) they will remove their hat and sport the sunglasses alone. For the most part this is permanent BUT sometimes they'll put the hat back on so you just have to repeat the process. Neat for anyone who doesnt feel like rooting around with mods or cheats in their playthroughs.

FalloutNV.exe tries to install Fallout New Vegas RU instead of starting the global version

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 05:15 AM PST

I'm at my wit's end with this one. I bought the Ultimate Edition today, but I've had the enplczru version from before. Upon installing, this is what happens when I try to start the game: https://streamable.com/5c7ii . I have no idea how to proceed further, has anyone encountered this bug before?

    Loading Screen

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 07:29 AM PST

I'm sort of at an end, and I need some help. I'm trapped inside the Primm Town Hall, with no avenue out. Every time I try to exit, I get the loading screen that last forever. I've tried loading a previous save from inside the building, I always have 2 rotating saves, but both get me stuck when exiting. I can travel inside the levels inside the building with no problem. Am I screwed. I dont have any mods, since I'm playing on my XBOX One S, but I really hope that I dont have to restart the game?

    Courier Who Broke the Bank

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 05:24 PM PST

I know the obvious strategy is 10 luck + blackjack = profit, but what I'm wondering is if anyone here has broken the casinos with average luck 4-6 ? Seems like it might make for an interesting challenge.

I've played this game a million times but never the DLCs more than once like a decade ago. Which one should I start first?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 06:37 PM PST

I'm level 21ish with a sneaky sniper build with quite a bit of barter, speech, science, and repair. I vaguely recall one of the DLCs being really hard with this build.

    A Short Rambling Rant

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 11:29 AM PST

This is more of a rant on the Fallout fan communities than the games themselves.

Why is it that so-called "fans" of this series demonize criticism (half the time any commentary that isn't 100% positive really)? While especially apparent regarding FO3/4/76, even with FO1/2/NV fans go from discussing the good and bad about the games (be it with the plots or gameplay or characters or content or what-have you) to blind rage or silencing shouts, unwilling to have any sort of discussion on where things might be worse than originally thought in these games. If criticism is brought up, or commentary made, it just gets buried - people almost reflexively downvote the posts and comments (ESPECIALLY new ones, hiding them from everyone's view so no one can actually see what was discussed). It is as though this thing that is liked/made by this certain company MUST be perfect and have no important flaws, and no evidence or argument can be true as a consequence - anyone who claims such is just a "hater".

The reverse is true too. Praise one of the games, or even just an aspect of a game (like FO:NV's weapon/ammo variety or FO3's casual-friendly exploration), and insults just pour in about how someone is just brown-nosing for the company / blinded by nostalgia / hates change or old stuff or whatever / wants the same thing every time / etc. It comes across as "nothing can be good, nothing can be praised, everything must be bad!".

Then you have contrarian trolls; people who argue and disagree not for the sake of discussion, but for the sake of making people angry. No explanations, not logic, no evidence - just assertions without merit - and if you bring up any explanation/logic/evidence/etc of your own, you are insulted and everything you bring up is dismissed.

I know most aren't like this; most people are decently sensible, even if silent most of the time. I'm aware that we can come to our echo chamber subs (like this one for FO:NV) and (mostly) discuss things, but it doesn't change the fact that these behaviors limit and kill discussion.

What's the point of being a fan at that point? Why try to talk to other fans if you can't discuss anything and instead have to agree to some vocal talking head's hivemind any time you try to speak? Why can these people not instead simply ask "what would you do better"? If we're going to argue after all, why not make it constructive?
