For me it's gotta be stepping on a shopping cart at night in fallout 3.

Fallout was never "grounded and realistic" and Fallout 3's Mothership Zeta didnt "ruin" that.

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 05:22 PM PDT

I saw some people complaining that Fallout 3's DLC somehow "ruined Fallouts grounded and realistic world" allow me to debunk this type of ironically magical thinking:

Fallout 1: You fight an army of magically-mutated mutants who exhibit immunity to radiation, with no basis for the FEV in vaguely practical science, and are psychically-communicated and controlled by a man who had mutated and fused himself with a computer....yeah, very grounded and realistic.

Fallout 2: This is the Fallout I know the least about...uh, Deathclaw booty? Yeah. There you go. Very realistic. We see this in real life all the time, yeah? Fallout the Frontier: Lusty Deathclaw Maid.

Fallout Tactics: You fight an army of robots controlled by a hive-mind of peoples surgically-removed and alive brains, and somehow these brains can exert control across thousands of robot units, never questioning the possible strain this would put on a human mind, and this question becomes even worse if you choose to upload someones brain into the Calculator, a single living human brain controlling an entire army of killer robots...yeah, very realistic and grounded. pog.

Fallout 3: "THEY HAVE ALIEN SPECSHIP YOU CAN FIGHT OMG THEY RUINED FALLOUT THIS AINT REALISTIC!!!!! anyways, im going to go to the Pitt to chat with the raider gang who somehow gave birth to a radiation-immune child in the most polluted environment imaginable! SO much more realistic and grounded and based than STOOPID AWEINZ!!!"

I hope I have disillusioned you from the magical thinking that Fallout has ever been anything approaching realism. Its a game. Have fun with it. Aliens never changed or ruined that.

In F04 why can't Ex-Military be a dialogue option for male SS?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 11:48 PM PDT

I don't care that this would create differences from male and female play throughs. IMO a difference in dialogue between the two would be great to give more reasons to play the opposite.

Thing that always irked me was how we see that Nate (I'll go by his canon name) Is a military vet. He's also obviously infantry or some combat arms from the intro video. So how come the only time I've ever been able to use that in dialogue is when talking to the gate guard at the brotherhood of steel base? When we first meet Paladin Danse he is constantly mentioning how it needs to be "by the book" and calls you a "Civilian" Now of course I get why. The US army doesn't exist and how would he know? But I wish we had the option to correct or even tell him "Look I know how this goes, I was in the fight at Anchorage, I served in the US Military before being cryo frozen, I lived and fought before the war" Stuff like that should be options instead of being patronized and not even being able to correct people on it. I don't care if they dismiss it or brush it off, as long as I can throw this down and maybe throw it some douches face (looking at you Rhys) instead of sitting there getting lectured about shit you already know.

Now female SS yea I get her not being able to comment on it, however I wish they had gone the route of making them both ex-military. It would help explain her being able to fight the same way as Nate and take a deathclaw one on one, use power armor, use the various weapons etc.

I digress, the lack of general options to use the protagonists background in dialogue is odd. hell Nora being a lawyer could allow her the option to talk morality and justice to some people in the wasteland.

I'd like to know others thoughts on this as it recently popped up in my mind.

Would you play a Nuclear Winter Fallout game?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 04:53 PM PDT

We had that DLC or Add on, in Fallout 3 were you go back in time with a simulator and you fight the last battle in Alaska.

But what if there was a full spin off game based around Alaska in the winter?

Or perhaps a Fallout game dedicated for after that battle in Alaska and it the winter?

The NCR always said "Patrolling the Mojave makes you wish for a Nuclear Winter."

Could we do that? And would you love to play in the tundras of Alaska for a new Fallout game? I don't know any of its lore but based off Z Nations, the Nuclear Blasts might unfreeze stuff (zombies) (Spoiler for Z Nations)!

Fallout needs to include mutated sea creatures

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 06:14 AM PDT

It seems odd that only the terrestrial animals were mutated. Are we assuming that aquatic creatures died out completely from the radiation? At least some of the should've survived. There are sooo many different possibilities for animals.

Extremely large trout, or trout with an extra tail or something. This would be a Brahmin variant in that this is a passive creature and can perhaps be killed for trout meat.

Merpeople. Not completely sure how this would work considering the radiation but fallout has made weirder things happen. They could have a sonar blast like mirelurk kings in fallout 4 or they could be more like sirens.

Mutated piranhas that have been causing issues for the nearby town and have been affecting food and water sources.

Of course, we would need makeshift scuba gear, and this can be upgraded at the crafting bench to go deeper and last longer.

What are your opinions on the Fallout Spectrum

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 11:15 PM PDT

Like pro-classic vs pro-bethesda. I believe that both side have good and bad communities, but I think neither one are superior than the other. Thoughts?

The Fallout Pip-Boy app would’ve been better suited to FO76

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 10:16 AM PDT

Just my thoughts really - I enjoyed both games, but the app they made to use the Pip-Boy on your phone in FO4 seems like it would've worked much better in FO76. I mean the whole thing was a bit of a gimmick, mostly to make the Pip-Boy Edition have more of a point. But I never really used it that practically, except when I played on PS4. However, since you can't pause in FO76, the app could've been more useful with that game than it ever was for FO4. It would still be a bit of a useless gimmick, but at least it would have more purpose.

If anyone else has any thoughts on it I'd be glad to talk about it in comments!

    The best companion in fallout

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 02:11 PM PDT

Some may say it's dogmeat, some says it strong or Veronica. All wrong, the best companion is the vault 13 canteen. It is with you from the beginning and gives you updates telling you it's ok. I will never leave your side unless you want it too and it will never trigger any trap, it will never be downed or knocked out. It is simply the best

I personally don't like to play any of Bethesda's games without survival mods/setting.

F:NV - NCR Hit Squads & Legion Dropboxes Not Working!

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 10:10 PM PDT

    Hello friends,

I am working my way through a Legion playthrough. Imagine my excitement when, after waking up from a shallow grave in Goodsprings and helping a bunch of convicts rape the countryside for loot, I'm able to get vilified by the NCR by using their heads as target practice (rather than Sunny's stupid bottles, blech). Imagine my (even greater) excitement when an NCR hit squad warns me about their impending assault on my life, so I gun them down like animals.

By this point, the Legion likes me enough to award the dropboxes. I go, loot them, then make my way to the Strip.

After letting Benny flee so I can have him crucified later, I'm approached by Vulpes and some NCR random. Because the Ambassador insulted me by offering to have me visit him, I killed him and everyone in his office. I then sold 200+ NCR dogtags to the Legionaire at Cottonwood Cove. Vilified with the NCR and Idolized with the Legion again.

At this point, I'm awarded the safehouse. But wait! Alas, I haven't gotten any more dropboxes, and worse, the NCR stopped sending hit squads! I'm now 70+ hours into the game, with every Legion quest completed except the one to take Hoover Dam. I haven't completed the DLC yet. Is there any way to restore the dropboxes and NCR assassins? The game really isn't the same without them.

    With love and kisses,

-A guy who beats in profligate legs~♥

P.S. I'm on PC, so any console commands or .esps to fix the situation are more than welcomed and are, in fact, appreciated!

PSA for Fallout 4 - One of the best quality of life mods is Eat and Drink Conveniently

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 02:16 PM PDT

Leaving this here for anyone who hasn't heard of it. The mod give you two items, hydrate and eat, and once you configure it in MCM all you have to do is select one or the other and you'll eat or drink something from your inventory (or the area around you) automatically.

Does This Count to Have Completed Fallout 4 on Survival Without Dying?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 08:34 PM PDT

I just completed Fallout 4's main quest at level 30 on survival throughout without dying even once nor reloading (except reloading because the game freezes or glitches, such as not able to move and functions not responsive) but then died at level 37 from mini nuke explosion. Can I be considered to have completed Fallout 4 on survival without dying?

Accessing the Brotherhood of Steel Bunker at Level One

I made a video that goes over how you can access the Brotherhood of Steel bunker located in Hidden Valley at any level. This video is geared toward new players. I figured now would be a great time to post as the game is on sale.

    Idea for a Fallout Nuzlocke

    Posted: 12 Aug 2021 01:26 PM PDT

The rules are as follows: You may grab one new weapon in each location discovered

The weapon you grab must be either the first one you see, the one held by the first enemy you kill in that area, or the first weapon displayed in the first container you open in that area

If you die, you must scrap whichever weapon you were holding at the tike of death

Optional rules: You must rename each weapon

Each weapons workbench can only be used once, meaning there are limited opportunities to attach mods

You may only carry up to a certain amount of weapons at a time, having to leave the rest in a container somewhere

You may only carry a limited number of stimpaks at a time

    Survival difficulty

The player decides whether to allow weapons obtained through quests

Fallout 76 will always leave a bad taste in my mouth but I can't deny it added some awesome weapons!

    Posted: 13 Aug 2021 12:37 AM PDT

MG42, Single Action revolver, Blackpowder pistol, Black Powder Rifle, Pump Action Shotgun, a 50 cal light machine gun!, the galting gun!, and the auto grenade launcher!

The Black powder weapons are ones I wish I could mod into Fallout 4 for the Minutemen rather than the Laser Musket, and the MG42 is just awesome.
