Why wasn't there an Emergency Broadcast?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 04:40 AM PST

For anyone who doesn't know, irl the US has something called the "Emergency Alert System" (EAS), which consists of a series of sharp tones which interrupt any television and radio broadcasts, followed by a few brief and concise statements made by a text-to-speech device, followed by an announcement by the current president. The broadcast advises citizens to seek shelter immediately, and there are rumored to be scripts for exceedingly fantastical scenarios, like alien invasions, impacts by several dwarf planets, asteroids, biological outbreaks, and, of course, nuclear attack.

Here's what the nuclear one sounds like, by the way:

    Chilling.

So why was it that in the intro to F4, we saw some goofy newscaster read out the end of the world on paper? Why were there no sirens? The entire atmosphere for the intro would have changed in an instant into this panicked, animalistic state you feel when you listen to this.

Has the nuclear war affected the weather all over the world in some way?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 01:04 PM PST

I was checking out a few weather mods for fallout 4 which involved a lot of snow when I kept wondering if this would actually happen in-game if seasons progressed as if it would in real life. I am aware of a nuclear winter taking place but I am just trying to figure out how the weather works.

Is the post war U.S in the midst of a nuclear summer? Hence Cait talking about the heat despite the commonwealth being in the midst of fall.

What is the lore behind radscorpions in Fallout 4?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 02:14 PM PST

it makes sense for them to be in Arizona but i live near Boston and last time i checked there weren't any scorpions. Idk if there in fallout 3 cause i haven't played it yet but i would like to know how or why there in the commonwealth

Who dropped the first nuclear bombs?

This has probably been asked before, but I'm interested to see the theories on this. I personally think it was the zetans because in mothership zeta there is a holotape where they are trying to get the nuclear launch codes from someone.

Were the enclave always bad? Or were they corrupted along the way?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 03:10 AM PST

As far as i can remember the enclave were bad since fo2 when literally the first scene is them killing vault dwellers. Then they killed your dad and any "wastelanders" they spotted and tried to expose the capital wasteland to FEV. Hell, you can join them in fallout 76. In most of these cases, they are evil, but in fallout new Vegas they were somewhat tame but still violent unless you have arcade as your companion.

Why do the scorched always attack

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 05:24 AM PST

Is there a lore reason that the scorched from fallout 76 always attacks on sight. There have been raiders in almost every other game that I remember talking to that did not attack first and ask questions never. They don't seem feral because they use guns and stuff. Sorry if this is just a gameplay thing and has no lore.
