Has anyone unironically died to radiation poisoning in fo3?

It's so easy to find radaway and rad x plus you need to have a huge amount of rads to actually die from it

Edit:I forgot about the GECK sorry I'm sure many of you did not recruit fawkes and tried to go through but died

Edit: misspoke by referring to fawkes as that mutant

    Edit: thanks for silver!!

With inflation taken into account, a copy of fallout 4 in 2287 would cost about 15 caps. I think lol. Pic in comments

The Pitt is a damn near perfect DLC and could only be better by being longer.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 08:50 PM PST

What would you add, quest wise or further content to build on the Pitt.

And of course do you side with Asher like a boss, or wherner like a chum lol.

    The Population of Shady Sands

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 04:25 PM PST

So we all know Shady Sands, the capital of the NCR, right?

    Here's a population prediction.

So the data we have is thata) Shady Sands had ~200 people in 2161.b) It had 3000 people in 2241.c) Major growth began in 2196, with Tandi's presidency.

    Using the exponential growth equation:3000 = 200e(2241 - 2196*(growth rate))

    ln(3000/200)/45 = growth rate

growth rate = 6.018% growth rate

Using the exponential growth equation again,

    Population = 200e(2281-2196(0.0618))

Which puts Shady Sands' population in 2281 at around 33,000.

Any particular method to get fusion cores? (Fallout 4)

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 11:29 AM PST

You can post exploits but please dont put duplication methods. If there's any particular method you use to get fusion cores, I would love to hear it.

In fallout 4 if I choose a brotherhood of steel victory will I still have The Castle as an option for a settlement?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 07:18 PM PST

If you are enemies with Preston Garvey in Fallout 4, can you still complete the game with the Minutemen?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 04:04 PM PST

I completed the Nuka World dlc before finishing the main quest, can I still destroy the institute with them?

Any recommendations for an Institute Power Armor build?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 10:36 PM PST

I'm honestly thinking of just sticking with explosive shielding for its functionality (over Institute paint), because I always try to have at least 10 INT by level 15 anyway.

Should I stick with plasma guns only? Or Institute guns? Should I bother with settlements or just spread science across the commonwealth?

So did paladin danse steal my power armor?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 08:33 PM PST

I'm playing an f04 brother hood character right? SO I wanted paladin danse as my main companion and I gave Tesla armor before blind betrayal. Can't find the Tesla armor after and he sure as hell isnt wearing it and doesn't have it one him so did it just get eucked into the void or what?

Note: Currently is in party in X 01 and I've killed institute communists.

Level 1 hardcore Dead Money has got to be one of my all time best moments in this series.

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 03:40 AM PST

The pure survival is gripping, because you NEED to find stuff fast because you're actively dying in 4 ways, and on top of that the ghost people. Best perk for me on that playthrough has to be the one where you heal from pre wae foods and alcohols. Wine and scotch mlg

In fallout 4 what can I do after I beat the game I’m the director of the institute

The legendary weapon and modding systems in 4 and 76 are horrendous

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 02:33 AM PST

Legendary weapons are joyless, goofy add-ons: poison bullets? Magically making bullets into explosives? This is not the Elder Scrolls.

Throw realism out the door (after all, realism isn't that important, and it is a videogame), and still: the majority of Legendary effects suck major ass. What would you rather have: a two shot Handmade Rifle or a Ghoul Slayer's anything? Never mind the fact that certain weapons shouldn't be able to get certain effects (freezing flamer, ghoul slayer's gamma gun), but most effects are useless. When the hell am I going to use a shotgun that deals non-stacking, really shit fire damage? Hell, shotguns with the explosive or wounding effects should only fire one slug (or somesuch) so they aren't hilariously overpowered.

Legendaries promote a grindy, boring, and hoarding playstyle. They also take the usefulness out of actual unique weapons (Relentless .44 pistol is identical to Kellogg's pistol, etc), and are-in my opinion, at least-boring. Never mind that they give the player zero reason to ever spend money at a vendor and force the player into a repetitive cycle of finding legendary enemies to kill. And even if you do buy a legendary I mean—"unique" weapon at a vendor, chances are that it's explosive or some other similarly overpowered effect.

    Totally

This is just a larger effect of the uncapped level, the weird damage system, and the shitty weapon variety. Certain guns outshine other guns in all aspects, where it should be that one gun is good at one thing, but it loses something that its "inferior" version has. For example, the Brush Gun in NV has better damage than the Trail Carbine, but the Trail Carbine can have a scope and the Cowboy Repeater (the most "inferior" version) has better crit chance.

The modding system also makes guns uninteresting because every gun can function the same. It just becomes a game of "which gun kills enemies the fastest?" Instead of "which gun is best used for this specific situation?" Again, I'm not talking about damage boosts to specific enemy types, that's dumb. I'm talking about how only certain weapons should be able to be scoped, or silenced, etc. The Gauss Rifle shouldn't be able to be silenced, that's the trade-off for higher damage. The Sniper Rifle sould have lower damage than the Gauss Rifle, but it would be able to have a night vision scope and a silencer.

The mods are also shit. At most, you get +5% bash damage or -7% weapon spread (from the closest mod). Lame. Other games have +20 something or -20% otherthing, huge differences that you can really notice.

NV's and GRA's weapon customization was (again!) a reason to spend caps you'd otherwise be hoarding, preventing the player from sitting on 2000-3000 caps by mid-game. Having trouble defeating that robot's armor? Search around for an upgraded receiver or long barrel for that extra 3 damage so you can beat its DT. Bounty quests like those at McCarran or Red Lucy's quests complimented the system nicely: income could be directed towards ammo and upgrades, instead of lugging around microscopes and chasing Legendary Enemies for the next reciever, grip or wacky effect.

Also, the alternate ammo in Fallout: New Vegas (and, though broken, Fo1 & Fo2) gave a whole new level of depth to the barter and gunplay.

Weapons could become multi-purpose and situationally specialized: buckshot, pulse slugs; explosive .50 BMG; the player could switch his weapon's use is an instant, or, if you wanted ammo in abundance, surplus bullets not only reinforced the environment of the wasteland (I only wish NPCs used them more) but provided a give-take scenario that was viable for run-n-gun playstyles.

Spending a hundred caps on a few dozen flechette and slug rounds for your shotgun when you go into REPCONN or Fiend territory or buying some AP .308 for the assault on Cottonwood Cove is not only a strategic choice that rewards the player with combat efficiency and general flexibility—it also looks and feels very badass and gives you a reason to spend caps instead of sitting on them. It's better gunplay that allows the player to switch the use of weapons as opposed to switching weapons entirely.

All in all, I think New Vegas did these parts of the game more simply, better overall, and in a far more interesting and strategic way.

I just finished this and I really didn't want this to turn into a "New Vegas good, Bethesda Games bad" post (even though those are my beliefs) but when I laid out my thoughts it just came out like this.

So tell me, do you believe my thoughts are justified or are my biases coloring my perception?

If you could have 1 weapon from fallout irl, what would it be?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 09:51 AM PST

I’m looking for a new game to play, which fallout would be best to play if I only played one of them? I have PS3 and PS4.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 08:23 PM PST

I'm really into single player games like red dead, Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of Us, tomb raider. I've heard a lot of fallout references and it sounds interesting.

Yo I need some assistance with fallout 4 if anyone can help

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 07:35 PM PST

So just right off the bat I'm kinda stuck with the story like I'm trying to get as far as I can with all factions before shit goes to the fan and well my ultimate goal is to inevitably end the institute with the minutemen so I can still work with both the brotherhood is steel and the railroad. Here's where it gets tricky, with the railroad my current goal is to continue working with father simple enough. The bos want me to kill the railroad, okay so I'm good with them and the railroad in terms of how far can I go before making enemies. Cool. Now the institute wants me to go to the mass fusion and I can either help the institute which will make me enemies with bos or I can help them instead and make the institute my enemy now well you see here's the problem with bos they won't let me talk to proctor Ingram about mass fusion until I start the killing the railroad mission but by starting it I instantly become enemies with the railroad so I'm stuck. I figured go straight to minutemen but all I can get out of them is more Preston go here bullshit so yeah I think i explained that pretty well also side not I'm on Ps4 so can't do any console commands. Yeah if you know a way well I'd appreciate it.

    Help for a school assignment.

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 07:16 PM PST

Now I know this is a bit unusual for this subreddit but its fallout related. In school I am in a animation class (I'm in high school) we have already started our exam project which is basically just make a sizeable animation. Anyways I was thinking that I should make one of those vault boy videos that are in 50s style y'know the ones that sometimes play when you boot up fallout 4. So I was wondering if any of you have an idea for a video that's 30 seconds to over a minute long. I will even post it if enough people care.
