Don't you hate it when companions comment on the shit you pick up?

Like, yes Maccready, I know your opinion on me carrying all of this shit around. But I built and entire fucking city out of Antique Globes and I swear to God if you comment on me picking up another Pepper Mill ONE MORE FUCKING TIME I will burn the entire place to the ground.

This has no doubt been asked before, but why exactly do people hate Fallout 4?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 08:36 PM PDT

So before I start, I'm familiar about the whole "people like the game, just not as a Fallout game" mindset and everything, my main question is why isn't it a good Fallout game?

I am a diehard Fallout fan, and love the series to death. I've yet to thoroughly enjoy 1 and 2, but I have played almost all of what Fallout 3 has to offer and just recently finished Fallout NV (absolute masterpiece of a game in my eyes) and also have played a lot of Fallout 4.

To me, it seems like they improved a lot from previous games in Fallout 4. Mole rats actually burrow now, Followers feel even more like actual people, the combat seems better to me, stuff like that.

I get that the style is very different from 3 and NV, but I think it's good that Bethesda is testing and trying new styles. Even if they are shit like 76, at least they gave it a shot.

The DLCs are all fun too (for the most part cough). I had a blast playing Nuka-World and Far Harbor, and thought those were both brilliant. Automatron was interesting. I like building and improving my own robots, plus the quest and new faction are interesting, and Vault-Tec and Wasteland workshop DLCs are... fun? I liked the huge build space of V-T workshop and the new stuff in the workshops are cool?

Anyways, that's about all. Thanks for listening to my question/rant

People who like the Brotherhood of Steel - why?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 09:56 PM PDT

I sincerely do not get it and I can't for the life of me understand why Bethesda has such a hard-on for this faction in particular. I thought they were super cool when I first saw their armor and weapons but their entire philosophy just seems like another nuisance in the wasteland just for the sake of being a nuisance. To me, they're no better than the Khans and Fiends and outright deserve to be exterminated for the good of the wasteland. Saboteurs that think they're better than everyone just because.

Only thing that has ever made me contemplate sparing them is people like Veronica, before I quickly realize she's basically the opposite of all the Brotherhood's ideals.

Im 28 and have enjoyed Fallout for almost half my life. I love the franchise ALOT. I see the direction they are heading and it makes me sad. Why arent they listening to us? A slow nickel is better than a fast dime and they should know this by now.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 09:02 AM PDT

I just dont understand. I avoided spending any money on 76 and have watched the dumpsterfire (with GREAT SADNESS) burn. I know Im not the only one. Bethesda would make so much more money fleshing out a proper game and letting the franchise build and make more money down the road. Im not a executive or really reasonably intelligent at all, Its just that obvious that they are making SHIT business decisions. God I really hope they turn it around and go back to what works and see that the incentive to do so is there ($$$). BETHESDA IF YOU ARE READING THIS GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER OR DIE TRYING.

O well. Heres to buying a PC and enjoying all the content fans like me have created. Seems like the half quality of fallout lies within the mods anyways and Ive never even used a mod. So im stoked theres still plenty for me to enjoy I guess. Its just so sad to see the state of the Fallout franchise. Oh well. Off to play NV.

Edit. A slow dime is better than a fast nickel. Not the other way around. Get out of my head Bethesda.

Thats a Deathclaw named Rawr in Lonesome Road?

How I would have handled the relationship between the factions and the story, never really felt like the settlements were part of the story.

What's the deal with Fallout 4 side quests?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 01:11 PM PDT

So far I did a couple of side quests (not misc tasks) and cannot make sense of it all.

    1) One dude asked me to fix some pipes for him (as you do), basically it was just interacting with 3 leaking pipes.

I found out he was trying to con me through his logs... that opened no additional dialogue whatsoever. Fixing the pipes doesn't change the flood at all... he has nothing else to offer in dialogue or else.

    I'm confused.

    2) A farmer tasked me to retrieving a locket from his murdered daughter inside a raider base.

He essentially asked me to murder my way through a raider base to recover a locket. Not to avenge his daughter, not to prevent further raids.

    ...To retrieve a locket.

What worries me is those are listed as quest (not in the misc section). Is all of the side content at this level? This is a fucking Award winning game. Wft is going on?!

I discovered I have FO 1 and 2 on my GoG account

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 03:08 AM PDT

So about 7 years ago, a buddy on the now dead Bioware forums gifted me FO 1 and 2 for Christmas. I wasn't a huge fan of isometric RNG gameplay back then, but right now, I'm craving something different because I'm bored with my PS4 library. The little time I did play FO1 showed me that it's alot more complex than FO3, and stats matter alot more. Is there a way a first timer should set up their build to make the game easier, or is it a game that's best enjoyed by going crazy with minmaxing like the later games?

Can i get the institute ending without destroying the railroad ?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 02:50 AM PDT

Found a little closure for my Institute playthrough

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 10:12 AM PDT

It's been ages since I finished the main storyline in my primary playthrough. I sided with the Institute, and since then there's my Institute radio broadcast, synths patrolling Diamond City and the good people of the city occasionally bitching about it and, well... that's about it, right?

Well, today on a whim I went into Piper's house and took a look in her computer, to see if she put anything new there since we first met. Turns out she did. A story called "Fear the Future?"

Friendly reminder that it took until 76 for us to get a proper .50 Cal Machine Gun

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 11:46 AM PDT

Despite .50 Cal ammo appearing in literally every other 3D Fallout, you never get to use it with a machine gun, only with the Anti-Material Rifle (and Hunting Rifles modded to take .50 cal bullets). We didn't get a proper machine gun until 76 finally added it as a new weapon

Let that sink in for a moment

This was my Halloween costume: Fasnacht jester from fallout 76! Lots of time, work and money went into the making of my costume. Didn't know i had the skill to make this! P.s Bethesda, i'd love a Jester mask in game! Hit me up on the PMs ;)

Gunner with a fricking vertibird?!?!? [Spoilers] (ish)

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 08:59 PM PDT

So I finished the BOS quests and blew up the institute but then I was attacked by gunners on a vertibird, while it was crazy, it was also epic, but how and why?

    Anyone discover this easter egg?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2019 12:36 AM PDT

The syringer ammo called Pax Syringe causes the target to be non-violent.

In the Firefly universe, in the movie - Serenity, the man-made chemical that the government tried to cover up was called PAX. It made the public non-violent on an extreme scale.

Has anyone at Bethesda said anything about skill points going forward?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2019 12:12 PM PDT

I know Todd said something about how the dialogue system in 4 kind of missed its mark, which is reassuring to hear.

But has anyone said anything about how the new skill system was recieved? I much prefer the old style (fallout 3/NV).
