Fallout | Why do people on this sub only talk about which Fallout game is the best?

Why do people on this sub only talk about which Fallout game is the best?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 01:38 PM PDT

I mean don't get me wrong, comparisons between different games in a franchise is not bad at all. The problem is that (almost) EVERY post I see on this sub is just comparisons, comparisons, comparisons.

"Fallout 3 is the best cos of it's atmosphere" "I mean Fallout NV did have more roleplaying options which is what Fallout is all about" "Nah there's no denying that Fallout 4 was the most immersive" "Has anyone in this comment section ever played the original 2 games?" You find stuff like this in every comment section.

I mean where's the debates about lore? Where's the theories? Where's the appraisal of characters and locations? Conversely, where's the apathy for characters and locations.

Honestly some guy will say "Man, I love Arcade Gannon" and then you'll get replies like "that's why NV is the best, the companions were amazing" and then the sub replies like "Have you even played Fallout 4" then this will start a chain of comments talking about how one game is better than the other.

You talk about how much you like/hate a quest or character: comparisons. You talk about the lore: comparisons. You talk about your favorite fucking gun: comparisons.

Yeah thanks for reading this long-ass post

TL;DR: stop comparing fallout games all the time. It's all you ever do.

Man, this worldbuilding is sad as hell

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 04:33 PM PDT

I'm just playing Fallout 3 for the first time. Received the Oscar Zulu distress signal. A man was saying that he and his family took refuge in a drainage chamber, his son was very sick and needed medical assistance ("my boy is very sick and needs medical assistance. Please help if you can."). Tried to triangulate the source of the signal and, after entering the drainage chamber, all I found was two skeletons lying to the ground, in a room full of children's toys.

    Fallout's world is just... horrifying.

Does anyone Els wish if you had a particularly badass character with some deadly looking armor raiders would be afraid of you?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 07:37 AM PDT

The first time I got the X-01 power armor in fallout 4 I had a raider come up and pick a fight he knew he couldn't win. I thought it was kinda stupid that he would see a 7' iron clad monster stomping down the street and he thought yeah I will totally be able to kill that guy. Ever since then I've always wanted some bad ass armour that makes raiders fear you, I don't mean like they all run away if there in a group but to me it doesn't make sense when a single raider just runs up to a guy in full armour. Are all the raiders just suicidal? What's your thoughts on this?

We can all agree that Deacon is the only reason why we don't want to exterminate the Railroad

    Railroads purpose post ending

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 11:06 PM PDT

I get back into fo4 every once in awhile and typically try to find things I've never done, siding with new factions, making different choices etc. one faction I can never seem to understand is the railroad.

I get they want to rescue synths from the institute, but by destroying the institute they essentially took away their only purpose. They also just ignore the problem of raiders, super mutants and ghouls only caring about machines that are literally printed out in an institute lab.

I think the bos is a bunch of ego maniacs but at least they take the fight to things that attack the common population. Hell even the raiders of nuka world have more of a purpose than rescuing robots from their creators. Just my thoughts on the railroad what do you all think about them.

What’s your Favorite weapon in the whole franchise and why?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 03:54 PM PDT

Whether it be it's look, stats or significance.

I've been so bored at work a lot lately and all I can think about is Fallout topics so here I am again.

It's tough for me but I gotta say the Gauss rifle from F4. It's just…perfect.

Honorable mentions goes to the P94 plasma rifle from the classic games, F3's railway rifle, and F4's shishkebab.

Enclave is likely still out there, in large numbers

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 02:43 AM PDT

This theory is based on simple thing. Oil rig. It's original designation is Control Station Enclave which also explains it's function, Enclave high command and HQ.

Most of Enclave we see throughout Fallout series originate from Control station somehow and just moved to Navarro, Chicago and then Capital Wasteland. This Enclave we know about, which accomplished all of that was just one division from Oil rig.

Now to the theory. Control station station was just one of many Enclave dividions taking part in their plan. Think about it for a second. Oil rig was just high command, but high command of what? Enclave armed forces. It's very unlikely that such advanced organization which knew about great war would only have 1,000 or so members. Reclamation of United States would be impossible with those low numbers.

Not only did Enclave had many more divisions but they are still operational and waiting for signal from high command that will probalbly never come. US goverment was well capable building bunkers which can stay operational over 200 years so there is no reason why their main forces should not be still in operational status.

    TLDR;

Enclave is still out there in large numbers.

    (Not naitive speaker btw)

God bless the Enclave, God bless America.

(Side quest spoiler) Do you think that the people Mister Crowley had you kill in fallout 3 were actually racist?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 01:45 AM PDT

I just finished the mission where Mister Crowley in the underworld in the history museum tasks you to kill Ted Strayer, Dave, Tenpenny, and Dukov, but I kind of had a moral dilemma because from all the dialog with the characters it didn't seem like they were. Except Tenpenny, but then I completed the quest where I convinced him to let Roy Phillips and the ghouls move into tenpenny tower, so was he really racist, or was that just Mr. Crowley's way of getting me to kill them and get the keys for him? Let me know what you all think. Also definitely get the keys, sell it to him, then kill him to take the keys and go to Fort Constantine because you get so much loot.

What DLC is your favorite and why

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 06:04 PM PDT

I think mine is either Point Lookout or Far Harbor, I love the atmosphere and story of both places and love the island vibes. I can't say anything for NV as I haven't gotten the chance to play the DLC's for it but would love to one day.

quests without markers are the worst.

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 05:03 PM PDT

ik what your probably thinking, "your just too reliant on the waypoint mechanic." and while that may be partially true its not why I hate them.

its that a lot of the quests that leave you to your own devices can drag on for a really, really long time. sometimes the clues given are dead obvious and other times they are incredibly vague. there's also the fetch quests that have no waypoints that are just incredibly monotonous and there's little to no action involved.

half the time when I complete these its because I found the quest item ahead of time and happened to have it when it was asked for. I'm just glad fo4 had less of these.

    Bethesda missed an opportunity

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 05:47 PM PDT

I've been playing through Fallout 4 again, and the first time I played through it I didn't look up anything, so what I played was all I saw. Well I'm playing through it again and came across the Yangtze. Now, I firmly believe that this quest line was the perfect opportunity for Bethesda to make a DLC involving going to China. You could have went with Zao to help him back home and help him adjust to life post war, and get some good loot along the way as well.

Automatic weapons suck massively for me in fnv

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 03:03 AM PDT

I love this game with my heart and I love a lot of things about it but this is not one of the them

The auto weapons suck man, firing them gives me no satisfaction what so ever, the spread on them sucks balls, shooting doesn't feel well and it feels clunky

Only time it ever feels nice is if I'm standing to 2 meters from someone and dumping mags into them and even then it still isn't enough

Just wanted to rant about auto weapons, that is all

The state of the Brotherhood of Steel in the West

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 07:11 PM PDT

So given what the most recent canonical lore tells us in fallout NV, we know that tensions with the NCR and the BoS out west are tumultuous at best, and even with the Mojave chapter helping patrol the I-15, I'm doubtful NCR command cares much for those relations.

I know that in fallout 1 that the BoS were stated to have wisely stayed out politics, and focus on being a research and development hub. And then in fallout 2 I feel they'd had tried to scrounge up as much of the tech from Navarjo and the oil rig as they could, but given the NCR having virtibirds its clear they couldn't stop everyone getting stuff.

So what does everyone think the BoS situation is currently? Are they just trapped in their bunkers and outposts? Like little nation states within NCR territory?

Do they still keep their technological edge or are they falling behind now?

Do they have peaceful enough relationships with the NCR?

I love the NCR and Brotherhood and hope they can find peace like they do in the Mojave.
