What city is the divide meant to be?

It's obviously meant to be the remains of a pre war city, but which one?

    Location of Vault 29/Twin Mothers

Both wikis point to Colorado but have no citation on any page that I have been able to find. What information do we have on their location and where can one find it?

I ask because based upon what I have gathered it seems far more likely that they are in NW New Mexico.

Can a Brainbot be considered as a person?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 05:35 AM PDT

I was thinking: if the synths (especially 3rd gen) can be considered humans, why brainbots can't do the same? If they have actual human brains and in Automatron and Far Harbour there are several brainbots who can interact with the Sole Survivor. But for some reason I don't know, Vault 112 brainbots actually act like, well, robots.

Why did the Pre-war world fall apart?

    Posted: 05 Jul 2021 12:56 AM PDT

I know the immediate causes-Global resource crisis causes Commie China to invade Alaska for energy, the US pushes them out and invades mainland China, prompting the Great War.

However, it's clear that apart from all that the whole world, most visibly in-game the US, was "going to hell in a hand basket" for decades prior to the Great War, even though things seem to have been going as well or better compared to our timeline as late as the 1990s. If not for nuclear carnage, it seems the society of the late 2070s would have collapsed under its own weight anyway given enough time, which is perhaps why the wasteland is still in such sorry shape over 200 years after the Great War. Maybe people haven't changed enough since then.

So my question is, what happened after WW2 that made society in the Fallout world doomed? I know there's not just one answer, I'm just looking for perspectives, be they from players or in game characters.

Also, I just recently got into fallout, so please no spoilers for plot specific to FO4.
