    Fallout: Tale of Two Wastelands

Does anyone else remember when FNV was widely disliked compared to FO3?

    Posted: 18 Jul 2021 12:53 AM PDT

Not trying to spark any debates! Just something I thought about recently.
It was many many years ago, but I swear there was a time when the community by and large favored Fallout 3 over NV.

"New Vegas is just Fallout 3.5"
    "Dogmeat>Wrex"
"It doesnt feel like a wasteland"

My theory is, when New Vegas came out most of us were raised on FO3. But now that both games have aged and settled New Vegas seems to be the fan favorite.

I made a few custom Heroclix figures for the 10th anniversary last year. I’m really happy with how Cass came out, but now I want to make more from the Mojave.

(New Vegas false memories) a strange feeling of dejavu with cut content.

    Posted: 18 Jul 2021 01:16 AM PDT

Its hard to really put this feeling into words, whenever I check out New Vegas cut content or old demos/concept art it gives me this strange feeling that im seeing a glimpse of a Fallout in another timeline. Its really hard to explain other then saying it gives me a strange feeling of Dejavu. Remnants of an idea that dont belong here anymore.

Also, does anyone have any strange memories of New Vegas when it first came out, chalk it up to me recalling a dream or just the memories of a speculative kid. But I I have very vague memories of New Vegas having no walls at all, like you could just walk on into the strip. Also I remember the Enclave secretly having some type of connection to the Strip. Enclave soldiers on the roofs.

suggestions for those who are using the outdated modding guide.

    Posted: 18 Jul 2021 09:16 AM PDT

I wanted to start off by saying I just got into modding New vegas a couple days ago, due to my version of skyrim on steam not having all the DLC's. So I settled for New vegas, a game a haven't played in years.

I am posting this for any lurkers, who like myself are not aware of how outdated the modding guide is on the reddit. From a quick search, the community here says the people who made the guide abandoned it many years ago, so its very outdated. For the most part even though its old, I was able to use it at the very least to make my game stable, but these are the things in the guide you may want to avoid, as some mods are gone from the nexus, or a video is missing, when this happens you can more or less just skip it as these mods are not game breaking without them.

the following links are no long working:

    Better Pickup Prompt- removed

Vanilla UI Plus Plugin -says "moved to moddb"

FNVLODGen-goes to another guide, that sends users to a deleted youtube video

ETL - Terrain LOD Noise -removed from nexus

    safeautodelete -removed

There is a better way though if you haven't started using the guide and that is viva new vegas- https://vivanewvegas.github.io/index.html

Viva New Vegas ias a fully modular vanilla-plus modding guide for Fallout New Vegas. It seems to be the same exact guide from the reddit, but more updated. vnv is something you want to look int asap, though if like me you have already completed the quality of life section of the guide on reddit, vnv is more or less the same guide and should be used to fix any errors you may have as a result of the guide being outdated so you shouldn't have much trouble jumping to VNV at any point.

Hope this helped, as I figured there may be lurkers like me who didn't know this. There should be a pin or redirect people to VNV as it's pointless to keep the guide on the sub when from my experience it is guide that should be ignored for VNV because its outdated.
