What is your favorite model of power armor? T-45, T-51, T-60, X-01?

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 03:26 PM PDT

I would've loved to have this as a poll, but polls aren't allowed and pretty unpopular among redditors.

While I'm mainly asking this question about which armor model aesthetic you prefer, if you perfer X-01 for its superior damage resistance then that's a valid reason.

The Brotherhood takes a dark turn (spoilers)

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 09:48 PM PDT

Joined the Brotherhood faction this time through, all was going well, stayed mostly non-committal to the eccentric politics, then WHAM, the thing with Paladim Danse, then wiping out all the cool cats in the Railroad, now we're going down the hole into the Institute. It's a slippery slope, hanging with extremists.

I'm playing Fallout 4 for the first time and was just wondering what essential perks I might be missing until I'm too far gone into the game. Currently at Level 36.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 05:13 AM PDT

Here's how my perks look right now. For continuing with this playthrough or doing future playthroughs, I just wanted to know if anything jumps out as something bad that I got, or, something good that I'm missing out on.

It would be cool if 76 (or Fallout 5) added more real-life weapons like 2 had

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 10:37 PM PDT

Now, we don't need things like the P90 or the Desert Eagle because those kinda clash with the 3D artstyle they've curated over 2 games, but I do have a few in mind that wouldn't.

My specifications were basically that they had to have metal/wood furniture, no polymer.

    Here's my suggestions:

    • Kel-Tec M43. A collector's variant of the 5.56 RDB with wooden furniture, this gun looks straight out of New Vegas. Actually decent for a bullpup, and looks amazing.

    • FK BRNO Field Pistol. An absolute big boy of a handgun, this pistol is chambered in a 7.5mm round. It's super expensive in real life, but it's basically a carbine masquerading as a pistol. Pretty good range, just would need a wood grip if it joined the Fallout universe.

    • AK-112. Chambered in a 5mm cartridge, the AK-112 is actually a canon Fallout weapon. It's hard to make out due to being a sprite but it doesn't actually resemble any AKs I've ever seen. Looks more like a part of the AR family.

    • H&K G11E. You know how I said "no polymer?" Well, I lied. Really, this just needs to return. It has such a unique design to it and would definitely stand out. It has a high-capacity magazine (50 rounds) of 4.7mm caseless ammo, and is excellent at armor penetration. C'mon, don't you want a bit of Kraut Space Magic in your life?

Do you have any weapons you want to see added or return? Comment down below and tell everyone. It would be nice if you could link a picture too.

    MILLION DOLLAR IDEA.

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 09:32 PM PDT

Ok so great idea. Fallout action figures right? We should get a NCR veteran ranger figure from some company that can do stuff with fallout. We need this.

Can anyone tell me why they would start a war on oil?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 02:49 AM PDT

I mean, many cars and planes are at pre war times were powered by nuclear energy, so why?

I recently got all the dlc for fallout 4, and I’ve been trying to create robots from the automaton dlc and when I try to add something to the robot it flies in the air and dies instantly. Why does this happen?

Lore-wise, how powerful is the Fat Man supposed to be?

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 08:00 PM PDT

I always found the fat man a little underwhelming. When you hear the name mini nuke, you would assume that it could be capable of serious damage. I always thought Fallout 4 low balled it for balance sakes. How powerful are mini nukes supposed to be in Fallout lore?

Anyone hoping that if we do get a canon ending for New Vegas it isn't the Yes Man ending?

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 02:07 PM PDT

I feel like if Fallout had to choose a canon ending it should be something that will be more interesting in the long term and not the ending that kind of has no negatives. I prefer the idea of seeing what Mr House could do if he actually controlled New Vegas as it may open up things in the future, or maybe have the Legion remain as a potential future antagonist with New Vegas on their side could be interesting.

    Trying to make worst/best settlement

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 01:45 AM PDT

I wanna make the worst/most accessible settlement. My one idea so far was to completely encase Hangman's Alley in rooms and walls which kinda was good, but I'm always interested in other ideas for making settlers pathing go bonkers

    Posted: 28 Oct 2020 03:54 AM PDT

So I'm on console and I just retook the castle but whenever I try and use the workshop it says I'm not allied to the settlement. I've killed all the mierlurks and the queen as well. Does anyone know what to do?

Tenpenny Towers and the novel "High-Rise"

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 09:52 PM PDT

I'm reading the book "High-Rise" by J.G. Ballard (which is pretty good so far btw). It is a dystopian themed novel about what is essentially a modern day self-contained mega high rise with schooling, banking, shopping, dining and entertainment all built in. Obviously, if I'm comparing it to Tenpenny Towers things are not going to turn out well...

But anyway, I know that Beth devs have stated that inspiration for FO3 was drawn from various books like Metro 2033 and if I recall correctly, The Road. This book I'm reading from 1975 feels like it would have been good material as well. I tried finding an answer to my question via Google but didn't find anythjng and of course, since Tenpenny Towers is itself called a high-rise that just frustrates the search process for a book named "High-Rise".

Anyway, my question is, has anyone ever heard of a connection between the book High-Rise and the story of Fallout 3? (Also, read the book)

Was the laser rifle the standard issue/primary rifle of the US Army pre-war? I thought it was mostly a prototype but it’s commonly seen wielded by soldiers in the FO4 pre-game cutscene and the prologue running to the vault.

Unidentified video hardware and lookup failed text

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 10:52 PM PDT

My fallout is acting weird, when I click reset graphic options, it says unidentified video hardware. Lookup failed text appears on some items when looking at them in inventory. My game is unmodded, I have verified files through steam and my gpu is asus rx570 4gb

Cannot play Fallout 4, please help.

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 05:48 PM PDT

So I downloaded vanilla fallout 4 onto my pc through steam and went to play it. I clicked on the icon and it opened up the small-windowed menu screen, but when I click "play" it disappears. I have no mods, tried running it through administrator, and even uninstalled it with no success. I don't want to waste money on a game that doesn't work, please help.
