Posted: 02 May 2020 05:12 AM PDT So a day ago I was exploring Appalachia when I came across a cave called the deep where I found a body of a diver with a holotape.The holotape featured a man claiming he found a spaceship however when I went through the cave system I found a base filled with communist ghouls.I was wondering why they are there and where is the spaceship the diver claimed to see? | Is Vault 76 really not a control vault? Posted: 01 May 2020 11:39 AM PDT As we know from playing Fallout 76 the overseer was given a mission to find and take control of the 3 Nuclear Silos in West Virginia. However the Overseer also learned about the Vault Tec experiments and that was partially the reason she was transferred from being the overseer of vault 101. Even knowing about the vault experiments she still thinks Vault 76 was a control vault. So was Vault 76 a control vault with an overseer who was supposed to have a secret mission, or was the experiment just "vault overseer telling dwellers about nukes and seeing what happened"? Also people bring up vault tec not telling the Pentagon as even more proof, but the only proof we have in 76 of this being the case is with Captain Fields who was not apart of the Enclave. If Vault 76 was advertised to the government as a control vault and it actually wasn't what is to say any of the "control vaults" are actually control vaults. [link] [comments] |

| Why are some species mutated by the FEV virus able to reproduce sexually and others not? Posted: 02 May 2020 02:47 AM PDT Hey guys, sorry if a dumby question, but I was playing through fallout one because nostalgia and went through The Glow and relearned what I learned for the first time in the early 90s about the Masters plan for humanity. (Tl;dr at bottom) What confused me was the justification for certain mutations, assumably the rad roaches, scorpions, blottflies, geckoes and other mutant creatures that scatter the world in various fallout game iterations, being because of the FEV-1 virus escaping The Glow and spreading into the atmosphere, and spreading through populations (which as I understood it was a reason why many of the topdwellers weren't as viable for use in the masters plan because of the combined radiation-affected dna and this escaped FEV-1 effectively innoculating them and making FEV-2 less effective) But, as you guys know FEV causes those exposed to become sterile, due to the FEV repairing what it percieves to be 'damaged' tissue and it finding any cells with only half the chromosomes such as germ cells and 'fixing,' them, making them no longer viable for sexual reproduction. In the medical notes uncovered at the glow, flatworms they exposed were able to continue reproducing but only through aesexual reproduction (some species can produce either way, neat hey?) So while I know some species of scorpion can reproduce aesexually the radscorps are described as being evolved from the North American Emperor Scorpion, which reproduce via sexual reproduction. Some gecko species do resproduce aesexually via parthogenesis, as does I believe a species of chameleon, but deathclaws have nests - and gamepedia described that thr alpha female will only allow the strongest pack male to fertalize her eggs. Molerats, mirelurks, mantis and many more alsp seem to be able to sexually reproduce, so its establishes animals from mammals, reptiles, crustaceans, insects, arachnids and even in the more recent games, amphibians; but not ghouls or supermutants. My question and confusion comes from why is it the case hominids can't reproduce after FEV exposure? Ghouls appear to be humans mutated by the ambiet FEV-1 virus and the ambient radiation, shoudn't they be in the same boat as the radscorps, molerats or another mutant group? Are super mutants unable to reproduce because they are engineered with FEV-2? Theoretically, couldnt whatever causes all these other mutant species to retain their reproductive qualities be used to make the Master's ideal mutant race? Also, what is the dofference between FEV-1 and FEV-2? Was it just that FEV-1 got mutated in the Mariposa base after the great war, coz i thohght it's ionized hydrgen sheath was meant to be a foolproof protection from radiation. Idk its been on my mind since I played through fallout 1 again. Sorry for the long winded questions. | How come House's Body aged extensively but the Sole Survivor's Didn't? Posted: 01 May 2020 11:12 AM PDT I'm asking because they both lived through 200 years utilizing cryostasis and life support machines, and the only difference I can tell, is that House's machine connected to the computers and defense matrix of the Lucky 38. Considering House was one the wealthiest, smartest, and most influential Pre-War businessmen with countless resources and manpower (and robotpower), you'd think his system would be far superior to the machines that were designed to never help the Vault Dwellers. Only explanation I can think of is that, similar to the power systems of the Lucky 38, the Cryo machine also short itself out while defending the Lucky 38 and didn't preserve House's body as well [link] [comments] |
