Wonder what it's like to meet the Brotherhood of Steel in New Vegas without any prior knowledge of the Brotherhood in the Fallout franchise. Seems like a crazy first impression.

This secretive Mojave division of the Brotherhood either has a hostile night patrol shooting you under the cover of artificial sandstorms or if you enter the bunker without being spotted by the patrol, strip you of gear and slap bomb collar on you when you try to meet peacefully. At least one of those happens without the pipsqueak Veronica nearby. Alright, moving past the understandable paranoia, the group is just... there, You get this story of how the NCR beat it down and it doesn't really get to do anything in the course of the game, only becoming active again after the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam provided you're interested in its survival going through the Independent Vegas or NCR (Only if Nolan McNamara is still Elder) questline.

Wonder how sympathetic I'd be towards the Mojave branch without my sloppily gained knowledge of the entire Brotherhood of Steel, and especially without Fallout 4 showing the Brotherhood at its absolute best fighting an enemy similar to the scientists at the Mariposa military base. I'd most likely be wondering what this group really stands for.

EDIT: Since some people are sharing their initial exposures to the Brotherhood, I'll say that I played Fallout 3 after watching my brother play a little of it. I was a kid who didn't know anything about Owen Lyons's disavowed Brotherhood group and the Outcasts and merely played through main quest to take out hostile mutants and the Enclave. I didn't feel anything for the Brotherhood in New Vegas either. It was basically like a coin toss on killing those guys and then meeting Veronica, telling her that those guys are gone, then killed her too when she turned hostile. It was only until I was older and Fallout 4 was out that I began to poke around and do some research on the Brotherhood as an organization. Now, I just want to preserve it.

Why Lanius wouldn't wear (maybe salvaged) power armor like ncr heavy support troopers do decorated as ancient roman armor with some red cloaks and stuff? That thing he is wearing isn't exactly an armor, according to the lore.

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 04:17 AM PDT

It would make so much more sense, his current armor according to wiki is just some pre-war museum property, recreated to represent ancient roman armor. Power armor though (even the salvaged one) is fully metal, covers every corner of body and heavy enough for Lanius to handle (considering how insane big and strong he is). No ideas about his helmet tho, according to Caesar himself - his helmet was forged by legion blacksmiths, so I guess it's considered as real armor after all. What are your thoughts, gentlemen?

    RTX card weapon debris bug

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 03:24 AM PDT

The game crashes after minutes or gameplay if you have weapon debris enabled with an RTX card, if your game is crashing for seemingly no reason that could be why. It's a shame really weapon debris are really cool. Unfortunately we can't really expect a fix for this, ever.

Fellow fallout fans, what is you favourite fallout game of all time and why?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 04:31 AM PDT

Personally I love fallout 3, Just everything about it. Three dog is the best fallout DJ of all time and I love the music, I love the games with enclave in them fallout 2 was really fun but the return of them in fallout 3 was really good in my opinion, I really liked the brotherhood in fallout 3 as they truly seemed to have everyone's best interests at heart unlike in fallout 4 and the brotherhood in new Vegas was lame, the dlcs in fallout 3 were really good (apart from mother ship zeta that was pretty mediocre) especially point lookout, fallout 3 was also my first fallout game so it brings back a lot of nostalgia, pffft baseball stadium screw that how about a town made of planes surrounding a bomb or a big boat. I could go on forever but what about everyone else?

What are some of your Vault Ideas?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 05:14 PM PDT

This has probably been done before, but whatever.

Here's my idea: Vault 26 has 250 occupants. When they get there, they find out everything except for security and the Overseer position is done by robots. The also have spacious suites, pools, an aquarium, terrarium, restaurants. Basically an unbelievable amount of luxury. The dwellers don't have to farm food or work on the reactor; the robots do it for them. They can just kick back and relax during the apocalypse. The catch? 7 years after closing, a document is sent to every member of the vault's Intramail. In it contains a documentation of every vault and its horrific experiment. It's given to every person with instructions: there is a button that will send a message to stop whatever expiriment is going on in the Vaults. However, once its pushed it will seal every room containing amenities and open the Vault door. The dwellers will then have to leave the Vault. Let the chaos ensue

Without spoilers, how SHOULD I start Far Harbor?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 08:46 PM PDT

Right now my character is this gunslinger kind of character who's not very moral and has no interest in being a detective. I'm wondering if roleplaying wise I should keep the character and just play the dlc or if I should make a new character with more detective like roleplaying in order to make it make more sense?

piper stuck at gates of diamond city

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 11:22 AM PDT

at the beginning of the game, I fast traveled to diamond city by showing all map markers with console commands, and walked out the front door. Now when I try to progress through the campaign like normal, when it tells me to go to diamond city, nothing happens when I go there and Piper is still standing in front of the open door. I've done so much after the save so I'd lose a lot if I went back to a previous save before I fast traveled to Diamond City, is there anything I can do to fix this? I also tried using console commands to complete the quest "Jewel of the Commonwealth" but the quest still shows up in the not completed section.

Can we have energy weapons be more distinctive from ballistic guns in Fallout 5? Proposed changes to make energy weapons more unique.

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 01:03 PM PDT

As it stands laser weapons in Fallout 4 for example don't bring anything new to the table other than being visually different and having a different damage type.

In fact laser weapons literally feel like a ballistic weapon with a laser skin and new damage type slapped on. Hardly different.

They are supposed to have a higher rate of fire but in some cases they actually have lower ROF than their counterparts

They also have weird characteristics for laser weapons, I understand adding recoil for balance sake but it's so stupid that the recoil for laser guns are sometimes higher than ballistic weapons. So stupid it hurts my brain, there are other balance adjustments instead.

Here's my list of proposed changes.

DON'T TAKE EVERYTHING LITERALLY. There are some issues and not all of these need to be in the next game.

    Laser

    • No or VERY minimal recoil

    • Fastest firing rate of any weapon type

    • Also the weakest damage of any gun type in the game

    • Mod that can add a constant beam. Beam does more damage the longer you keep it on someone

    • Microfusion cells work like batteries, firing shots drain the cells which you can recharge

    • Higher damage mods means you use more energy per shot in exchange for lower fire rate and higher damage

    • Sniper mod uses up the most energy per shot and is comparable to a weaker .50 cal

Since the damage is still weak weak, the gun will still have a higher dps than other weapons thanks to a high ROF. This is still balanced because of how armor affects low damage and high rof weapons.

    Pros

Good against high HP targets and big enemies (Mutants and ghouls)
Good against numerous but unarmored enemies (Ghouls, basic raiders, animals)
    Ammo efficient
    No recoil
Each consecutive shot on armor lowers the damage resistance against your gun as the armor "overheats". There is a cap

    Cons

    Not very sneaky
High rof and low damage means you might end up wasting more ammo if you have inconsistent aim
    Armor counters this.
Physical damage armor blocks laser shots too (Up in the air)

    Plasma

Some minor adjustments to make Plasma weapons unique. I feel like these need to be the heavy hitter counter-part of the laser.
I propose that in addition to having both ballistic and energy damage.

    • All Plasma weapons add burns damage that scales with the weapons damage . This burn effect ignores ballistic armor. Energy resistance lowers the burn damage but doesn't stop it from being inflicted

    • To make the weapon more balanced. You use two ammo types now. Micro-fusion to power the gun and plasma for the shot. Plasma is slightly cheaper now (For balance)

    • Ability to "charge shots" by holding down the primary fire. Your shot when charged uses more energy and fuel in exchange for splash damage. Splash doesn't apply normal damage, instead apply the burning effect on nearby enemies.

    • Burn damage lowers energy resistance 10% (max)

    Pros

Your gun inflicts scaling burn damage regardless of how much armor the enemy is wearing.

You can charge each shot to burn multiple targets
    Best gun for countering armor.

    CONS

    Not ammo efficient.
You now have to manage two ammo types.
    Terrible sniper rifle

    Slow firing, slow projectile

    Burn effect does NOT stack

    Terrible for sneaking with

    Fallout 4 companion secret

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 03:40 PM PDT

(This is, like I said fallout 4)So there are many mods that make this happen but no one from what I have seen knows about this other than a few people I told verbally. What I am talking about is sending a companion back to their home rather than your settlements. There is a way you can send them to their home after having them follow you but there is one exception. So I was testing this and it is possible. The only exception is if they are already in one of your settlements sadly. The way you do it is by simply pressing back when you are sending them away. For Xbox(which is what I play on) it's B.

So..., I decided to do some exploring in Nick Valentine's office by glitching through the side of map using power armour and found a holotape labeled "Eddie Winter Holotape 1", I know it has to do with a quest but I just wanted to share this just in case I discovered something no one else has before.

(Fallout 1) is it a known “bug” where you can essentially steal people’s caps from them when bartering?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 11:35 PM PDT

Ok so my barter and speech skill are above 100%, when I buy an item from someone it's usually 50% cheaper than what I would sell it for. So I'm able to sell an item and buy it back for a cheaper price, so I can drain a person of their caps. Is this well known? I'm still fairly new to fallout 1.

What did you name your character in each game?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 07:02 PM PDT

I've always liked naming my characters something fitting. In each Fallout game I've played I've given them a cool and unique name (Except Fallout 1 because I believe you play as Albert Cole). They are Samuel Harper in Fallout 2, Charlie Knight in Fallout 3, John Doolin (NCR), Reuben Grant (Yesman), Dallas Parker (Legion) and Danny Rawlings (House) in New Vegas. What do you name your character in each game?
