| Why didn't the Chinese invasion of Alaska provoke a stronger American response? Posted: 13 Mar 2020 11:48 AM PDT The Chinese put boots on the ground in American sovereign territory in 2066 and weren't thrown out until 2077. Why did it take so long for the USA to to throw them out? Why didn't they retaliate with nukes? Further, how much oil could China realistically have been getting from Alaska during those 11 years? Presumably all the oil would have to be transported by ships which would have been extremely vulnerable to American bombers and submarines, and that's over a 7000 km run. My main guess is that China and the USA had an unspoken agreement over Alaska: Because each found the war useful for propaganda purposes, they agreed neither side would work too hard to win, and this also allowed them to somewhat limit casualties. Since actually taking the oil home was too hard for China, the USA might even benefit from the war, as China keeps throwing lives into it with very little oil in return, which Americans might hope would create a political fiasco back in China. | Did the United States not have any nuclear counter measures? Posted: 13 Mar 2020 01:47 PM PDT In the US today we have a system to destroy nukes while in flight by shooting smaller missiles at it. Never tested but in theory it works. In the fallout universe though you get no indication they had anything like. Except house, but house isn't the government and if he could do it why couldn't the government? [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 13 Mar 2020 08:00 PM PDT I know it was due to the tensions because of low fossil fuel deposits but The Americans were adopting fusion technology so not becoming so dependent on fossil fuels China invaded Alaska but it seemed like the Americans sort of let them take the little amount of oil that was there not sure how they were getting on with their race for fusion power Excuse the poor English typing on mobile [link] [comments] |
