Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:07 PM PST The other day I showed my dad Fallout New Vegas, which I finished and completed multiple times, 1 of which on Hardcore mode. At first he didn't care for it and just played it in the background as he drank bourbon, but after a few days I saw him playing it and he has more knowledge on the game now than even I did. Like he was talking about the Kahns, The Legion, The NCR, talking about how bullshit it was that you couldn't play after you completed the game, and was even talking about the tiny Easter eggs like the Holy Hand grenade from Monty Python. If I'm being honest I found it hilarious [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2019 12:07 PM PST When NCR wins, he says: (Sarcastic) "Aaaaand NCR wins? No, really, I'm shocked." Or (Sarcastic) "I totally didn't expect the guys with advanced armor and seemingly unlimited ammunition to take down an army of machete wielding ingrates." When the Legion wins, he says: "With Caesar's Legion in control of the dam, I think things are going to get much more difficult around here." When House wins, he says: "That old coot, House, is going to make me rich! With all the new rules and regulations in New Vegas, I'll make a killing circumventing them!" When Vegas is independent, he says: "An independent Vegas.... I never thought I'd see the day." I think it's really cool that there's literally content that can pretty much only be seen through third party means. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:43 PM PST From the game, the Nightkin mutants suffer from psychological issues due to their use of stealth boys, which causes the mutants to hear voices in their heads. What if the voices they hear is something deeper? I say this because of an interesting quest in Novac where a Nightkin slaughters brahmin at night. The quest is called The Scream of Brahmin. If you happen to have companions, it says some interesting things it couldn't possibly know.
The Nightkin says this about Arcade Gannon, referring to his association with the Enclave.
Referring to Veronica.
Referring to Boone, likely in regards to the Bitter Springs Massacre.
Referring to Cass. Interesting how these voices know that. Could some be psychic? The FEV and the stealth boys together probably make some unintended side-effect of telepathy. The Master achieved his powers from exposure to FEV and the Nightkin were designed to be the superior mutants that were to lead the mutant army. It is interesting. Do you guys think it could be anything? EDIT: I should add that the Nightkin in the quest kills the brahmin because it claims to hear them scream while it tries to sleep. It could be that it unintentionally read the minds of the brahmin. Why would they scream? Their mutation must really suck and not be entirely painless. Also, the statements made by the Nightkin sounds like what the Forecaster says when you ask him stuff. [link] [comments] |

T51 Power Armour Appreciation Thread Posted: 01 Dec 2019 01:24 AM PST It looks amazing. makes you feel badass. Has the best paint job in fallout 4. And is just generally awesome. [link] [comments] |
The institute should’ve had an 70’s/80’s aesthetic rather than a modern future one Posted: 01 Dec 2019 01:40 AM PST I like fallout 4 more than most but I hate the institutes aesthetic, it's slick and clean and not at all in line with the fallout world, I spend as little time in there as I can Around fo4s announcement someone said it would be cool if the first thing you see when you walk into the institute is a color television, but still blocky and not at all modern not slick arctitiure that looks like an apple etore They can still be scientists but with more of a doc brown aesetietic, have big hair, everything's got a retro Psychadelic aesthetic, they say cyber a lot, maybe there's a trendy 80's bar, neon lights are everywhere, maybe there's a courser that dresses like Austin powers or at least 70's bond I don't think it would need to be that comedic to work but maybe there's some funny lines like maybe father brags about the institutes "advanced culture" I don't know, fallout has such a distinct vibe and I'll give Bethesda credit they normally stay very true to it, nothing else broke the vibe in my eyes, we had a little bit of Boston culture mixed into the 50's culture, but I loved it. It allowed fallout 4 to have its own vibe. Just like new Vegas had an old west vibe mixed with the 50's The institute can be from any game, the only thing fallout-y where the terminals and that's really it [link] [comments] |
a fallout i like to daydream about Posted: 01 Dec 2019 02:20 AM PST its mostly just the starting story , but i like to think about a fallout game where there are 2 vaults in the same mountain , both vault doors are facing each other a couple hundred meters away from each other and a 3rd door (the one that leads to surface) in a T shaped cave , one of the vaults are militaristic in nature because it housed military personal and their families and the other one is civilian that had scientists and politicians, and both vaults cant be opened until a certain date in which both vaults will open at the exact same time (as an experiment) . am using past tense here because these people are just the first gen vault dwellers they will just pass on their knowledge/training to the second gen and so on . you can pick which vault you can start in if you pick the military vault you get 2 extra points when picking your character's SPECIAL but those 2 extra points can only be used on Strength, Perception and Endurance. and if you pick the civilian vault you get 2 extra points but those 2 extra points can only be used on Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck. the events of the game start with how will these 2 vaults will interact with each other and the outside world are they going to unite or is one faction will try to control the other ? will that lead to a war where one faction ends up finishing off the other ? (probably the military vault will try that) and its up to the player decide the fate of 2 vaults before dealing with the main story , the vaults and its dwellers will effect the main story later in game and will have an active role. am just tired seeing functional vaults that only exist to add flavor to the game and nothing more another thought i had is to make one of the vaults have ghouls ( not feral ) , those ghouls are first gen dwellers meaning they were present during the great war but (again) as an experiment the vault leaked constant but small doses of radiation inside which made them into ghouls. Posted: 30 Nov 2019 10:36 PM PST If I complete Ada's mission do I get to still keep her as a companion? Didnt know if I should build a new robot or upgrade her. I didnt want to waste materials upgrading Ada if I'm just gonna loose her later on. [link] [comments] |
I finally have early Fallout Games. Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:20 PM PST Thanks to my older brother, I have Fallout 1, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics on my PC. (Not through Steam, but through an actual disc) [link] [comments] |
There should be some Fallout Game based in NY Posted: 01 Dec 2019 03:07 AM PST I'd really like to see how they'd mix the noir feel of 50's NY with a wasteland, go to town with new settlements, like a settlement located in a Skyscraper. It would also be cool to see a broken down Empire State building [link] [comments] |
What makes Fallout 3 and New Vegas so good? Posted: 30 Nov 2019 02:54 PM PST I played Fallout 4 a while ago, and absolutley loved the game. You get to explore, shoot stuff, interact with unique NPCs, and do all sorts of fun stuff. The game felt fantastic overall. So I decided to play Fallout 3 and New Vegas because I heard they were better. I just didnt feel that way. What actually makes these games so good? I played these all the way through, and never found anything that I liked as much as Fallout 4. Ill start with the good stuff about these games. The leveling were definitly better. As I progressed through the game, I did feel like my character was getting better. I felt like I was getting stronger, something Fallout 4 didnt do as well. Also, Fallout 3 and New Vegas had a karma system: one I loved. It impacted the way the NPCs thought of you, and talked about you. It really felt more like you made a difference in the world. The option to be a dick was always pretty clever. Now what did I dislike about these games? Well, a lot more. For starters, the game felt really slow. This could have been because of the lack of a sprint, but I just took way too long to get from point A to point B. It actually pains me needing to travel anywhere because of how slow everything is. Also the environment is so boring. Everything is just a destroyed wasteland, and while yeah its more accurate to a nuclear wasteland, I cant enjoy exploring it. All the colors are washed out and dull, and most locations dont have any landmarks that make me appreciate the environment I am in. Another thing Fallout 4 does better are the choices. This might just be my opinion, but I hate that the choices are all "do you want to be a nice person, or do you want to be an a-hole?" Fallout 4 kinda forces you to be kind in most major decisions, but it lets you decide what you think is the nicest decision. The game actually makes you think! What should I do in this situation? Do synths have rights? Should I give the deathclaw its egg back? Is the institute really doing whats best for the commonwealth? Do I help Jack Cabot? There arent any definite right or wrong decisions. Its made for the player to decide. Meanwhile Fallout 3 and Vegas litterly have a morality system that makes it so that you dont have to think about it at all. There is a definite right or wrong answer, and it dosent seem as fun. Combat in Fallout 4 is also way better. Guns feel like actual weapons, instead of just nerf guns. In 4, when you shoot someone, they might stagger or jump back, or dive out of the way. In the other games they just charge you, soaking up damage, until they die. Combat just isnt as satisfying. There also is the customization system, which drasticlly increases the usefulness of junk, making it worth it to seek out some areas in order to make yourself feel stronger. Fallout 3 and New Vegas dosent have that, almost eliminating my incentive to explore, and instead just going exactly where I need to go, then turning around and heading back. Finally, Fallout 4 has so much damn content its insane. Everytime I play the game, I feel like Im encountering something new, something I havent seen before. Fallout 3 and New Vegas, however, you can finish almost immedietly. I think that Fallout 4 has more stuff to do that 3 and New Vegas combined, without sacrificing quality. Now these are only a few examples of why I think Fallout 4 is better right off the top of my head, But if you disagree, please tell me why. Im actually curious to see what it is about these games people like over Fallout 4. Ill try to see if maybe there are some good features of the originals that I just missed. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2019 12:48 AM PST So I've completed the main quest, completed Automatron and I've got my bulked up ADA carrying all my gear for the rest of the DLC, am I better going to Far Harbour or Nuka World first? P.s. I have already been to nuka world and done the gauntlet, just not the other areas etc [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:19 PM PST I'm currently replaying Fo4. Started Nuka World. So my initial thoughts were: Complete main quest, gain best loot, and kill all gangs. Then I slowly gained attached to the gangs (except the disciples). Now I don't wanna kill em, but I feel bad for the slaves in the market. I honestly don't know what to do. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2019 12:34 AM PST I'm judging between Winer Overhaul V1 and Icepick Overhaul - Complete, but I'm also considering Seasons - Winter. Which one is best? I could use a combo but I have to conserve space. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:43 PM PST Now that have experienced most off fallout 4, i was wondering about any simular games, which are A. Newer than 4. B. Isnt 76. Any suggestions are appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Anyone else had/having trouble with choosing a faction in Fallout 4? Posted: 30 Nov 2019 11:46 PM PST Cause like, I wanted to side with the Railroad, but then I saw the Blimp of the BOS and was like, "I wanna be on that". Yea so know I'am at a crossroads. Do I choose the Big cool synth killers, or the Underground railroad organisation. Can tell me what the exact goals of those two factions are? (Without spoilers) [link] [comments] |
Do I still run Nuka World after completing Open Season? Posted: 01 Dec 2019 01:54 AM PST I just started Nuka World and I want to get the "good ending" as Oxhorn names it, by completing Open Season. Mackenzie said that I would still run Nuka World if I decided to kill the Raiders. Do I still run the place, just not as a raider overboss? [link] [comments] |
What are some good story changing FO4 mods? Posted: 01 Dec 2019 01:38 AM PST Are there any mods out there for FO4 that add a new faction. I'm getting a bit bored of the game with small mods. I kinda just want something a bit more story changing. Nothing too big like a DLC sized mod. Just a new faction or even a new questline. What are some mods that are like those. [link] [comments] |
What order should i play the New Vegas DLC and at what point in the main questline? Posted: 30 Nov 2019 09:33 PM PST No spoilers for DLC please (spoilers for main game are ok since i've already completed it) [link] [comments] |
writing a story about an ncr squad Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:03 PM PST Im writing a story from the perspective of a squad patrolling the mojave, i already have the plot written out but I want it to be accurate as well as realistic and gritty. Think vietnam war story set in new vegas, what units would a squad consist of? I dont want it to just be 10 of the same type of trooper like in the game cause honestly it would be boring so heres what im thinking, let me know if ya'll have any suggestions: A squad leader, a medic, a shocktrooper (in power armor), an engineer, 2 fireteams of 4 riflemen, a radio specialist, and maybe a grenadier. Posted: 01 Dec 2019 02:59 AM PST Title says it all really. While the attraction of being right in the middle of diamond city is incredible for trading, the 2000 cap price seems a little high. In your opinion, is it worth the investment, or are there better player homes to buy? [link] [comments] |
Nearest I could find to a Raider faction doing a music video Posted: 30 Nov 2019 08:08 PM PST Being of a certain age (cough cough) I was around in the 80's when there was some pretty good music going on. One of my favourite bands was The Sisters Of Mercy and their video for This Corrosion could be straight out of a raider camp. I thought it looked pretty good anyway :-) [link] [comments] |
