Fallout 4 companions in: babysitting my kid

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 11:29 AM PST

    Codsworth
With Codsworth, it would only be natural. He's my butler anyway, so my kid is already used to having him around. It'd really just be, "I'm going out, don't give Codsworth any trouble!" He'll be a bit of a stickler about bedtime.

But say Codsworth isn't available, and I need to find someone else

    MacCready
He's my hubby in game, so it would be another natural choice. It'd really just be leaving Shaun at home with his step dad and little brother Duncan. He would probably cook something unhealthy I don't usually let them have.

    Curie
Curie would be very excited about the opportunity to babysit, but she'd probably be easy to walk on. She'd insist on some sort of edutainment.

    Piper
It'd be casual like, "Hey Piper, do you think I could drop Shaun off at your place for a while?" I'm sure he and Nat are friends so they'd just hang out, and he wouldn't give Piper any trouble, cause that's mom's friend.

    Preston
Preston would be pretty boring as a babysitter. He'd try and give Shaun some kind of moral lecture but Shaun isn't even listening. He's planning an escape route.

    Nick
Nick would be like going to grandpa's. There's not much to do there, but he talks funny and tells funny stories. He'll tell Shaun about whatever case he's on and be like, "So what do you think? Who's our guy?"

    Deacon
"Hey Shaun, wanna learn how to defuse a bomb and hack into your mom's terminals?"

    Danse
This is how I imagine it'd go with Danse. They're sitting there quietly, Danse is doing something, Shaun is looking at memes or something. Shaun laughs at something, breaking the silence, and Danse asks, "What's funny?" Shaun goes, "It's a meme you probably wouldn't get it." Danse asks to see it and Shaun shows him. Danse, deadpan, says something wild like, "That reminds me of a time I got trapped in a cave on a mission and built a sentry bot to get out using clipboards and pens I found on the dead ferals' bodies."
    "Wait. What?"

    Cait
"Cait can I stay up late?"
"Do whatever the fuck ya want ya little radroach"
Shaun drinks like four bottles of nuka cola

    X6
"Shaun. It is 9:45 pm, and you're not yet ready for bed."
"Yeah I'll do that in a minute."
"Shaun, I must insist you get ready for bed immediately, as your bed time is in 15 minutes."
    "Yeah yeah I'm on it."
X6, in his calm voice and deadpan face, "I've made a promise to your mother that I would uphold her rules, and I'm sworn to do exactly as she says, no matter what cost. If you don't get ready for bed right now, I will incinerate your toys one by one, destroy everything you hold dear, and then tell your mom."
Shaun immediately puts his pajamas on and goes right to bed, trembling

    Dogmeat
W hy would I leave my kid with just Dogmeat

    Hancock
Shaun would really enjoy hanging out in Hancock's office and seeing political drama go down.
Hancock turns to Shaun and says, "What do you think, kid? This guy deserve the lights out?" Shaun hesitantly nods, then Hancock sucker punches the guy in the face. He only wishes he had popcorn.

    Ada
He'd respect Ada. He knows that I love and adore her more than life itself, so he wouldn't give her any trouble about bedtime and whatnot. He'd probably just sit in his room the whole time and go to bed when she said to.

    Strong
"Strong.... there was.... literally..... no one else in the Commonwealth who could watch him....... please just don't let my kid die that's all I'm asking of you"

(Fallout new Vegas) sometimes my character is fiddling and banging their weapon after reloading, why?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 12:55 AM PST

How do you even trigger the companion quests for New Vegas without looking it up on the wiki?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:09 AM PST

I wanted to initiate the companion quests on my own but I kinda had to look it up on wiki and it ruins the immersion because spoilers..

It's almost impossible imo to gather all those "history points" to trigger the companion quests in FNV on your own without searching for help on the wiki..

You have to bring a particular companion everywhere, talk to everyone and hope some words in the dialogue gather some history points enough to initiate the companion quests.

    Edit: spelling and additional info

Legion in Fallout 4 on ps4???

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 12:47 AM PST

So last week I was building up Sanctuary in a new game, using the very limited mods on ps4. When placing down security/npcs I noticed something odd. I could place Legionnaires, I don't have a photo currently but I plan to add one, but my question is, is it a model or is it clothes? The same mod didn't let me take any of the clothes from other npcs but I'm just not sure which it is.

Fallout 4 Survival - New Plan - Is Dogmeat Worth Taking?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 03:31 AM PST

Okay so going to Nuka World at level 15 for the first time ever in my first ever Survival Mode wasn't a great idea.

So, my new plan, based on my experiences with the Survival Mechanics, are as follows:

    • Str 1
    • Per 4 + Bobblehead = 5
    • E 4
    • C 3
    • I 1
    • A 7
    • L 7 + Book = 8

This leaves 1 unspent point. Going rifles and pistols so do I take Dogmeat and his associated perk? Or do I put that point into End? Or maybe somewhere else?

Is he worth taking? The extras carry weight could be okay but other than that, is he just a burden?

What am I supposed to do?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 03:48 PM PST

I installed Dead Money for the first time because I thought it looked fun. I had heard good things about it... and then I played it. It was awful. I lacked any armor or weapon except what I took from those stupid ghost people, and I was constantly being raped by the cloud, speakers, and bear traps. I was barely able to limp my way through (literally) to triggering the gala event, and then when I went into the casino, I just gave up. I wasn't having fun. Am I missing something here? I am very high leveled in-game but I just can't do it.

    Vault jumpsuit color scheme

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:18 PM PST

Are vault jumpsuits blue and yellow or blue and gold? The 76 trailer includes a good 76 logo, but I always though they were yellow. I'd appreciate clarification on what would most likely appear on a vault suit, especially those from 3 and new Vegas. Thanks!

Is it just me, or every time I listen to Pistol Packin' Mama on the radio it has a completely silent pause in a the last half of it?

I'm using a mod in fallout new vegas to listen to it but I swear that I heard the pause in fallout 4 as well.

Are scoped revolvers just a videogame thing?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:01 PM PST

I guess this isn't a fallout exclusive question, but Fallout 4 is the reason I'm asking this since it's the freshest example in my mind of a revolver with a scope attachment being a good idea. Also for some reason I feel that the fallout community has a lot of gun owners or gun enthusiasts.

I feel like in real life if you ever actually tried to use the scope on a revolver, it would embed itself into your skull the second you fired it. Do people do this?

Why does Fallout 4 get so much flack but Skyrim doesn't?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2019 03:45 AM PST

Can someone explain to me why Fallout 4 gets so much flack for not being able to playthrough without combat via speech & for weak areas of story. But yet Skyrim has the same principles but is lauded as the greatest RPG of all time?

I see both on par with each other. Very good games.

Can’t mod Ada, I can only change her legs.

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:19 PM PST

I've tried to mod Ada to put the Mechanist device on her to continue the quest but it only lets me modify her legs. There is no problem with the other robots, just Ada. I've heard there's a glitch or something where you need to cripple Ada and then it will work, but I have the perk that prevents me from damaging my companions and apparently getting crippled by enemies doesn't fix it. Any ideas on how to get around this?

What seemingly trivial things really changed the series/fallout world between FO1-2 and F3-4 (not including 76)

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 11:58 AM PST

    Hi all,

I just found this randomly on youtube, the FO1-2 soundtracks ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGyB093QOIo) and it made me think about all the conversations about how Fallout has changed. Obviously, there's a lot of talk about how that's for the worse but I'm not going to go into that.

What I think has changed the most between the first two games and the next three is how bleak and isolating the first two games were in comparison to the last three. In retrospect, the first two feel like survival horror games in comparison to the last three. That doesn't even have to do with the desert wasteland environment of the first two games, because New Vegas felt that way too.

Anyways, since I was listening to the soundtracks (which are WAY fucking better than the ambient music in the new games) I think the most striking change was Three Dog. In Fallout 1 and 2, you're dumped out like you've just been born into a world that is a toxic wasteland. You don't know anything about the world until you go out and start discovering it for yourself. That's not even new-game shock from Fallout 1, because Fallout 2 had the same feeling for players who had already experienced 1.

But in 3, you get forced out bleary-eyed into the world and.... get to enjoy live updates of all the happenings and comings-and-goings of a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland. I think that took away from the bleakness of the experience of jumping from one horrifying situation to another when not only were you accompanied by a cheerful voice, but you were also getting updates about your own activity over the radio. Not only do you know basically everything going on over the entire wasteland, but the wasteland knows all about you. You're not just some random person just trying to survive. You're a celebrity. You get to listen to all your accomplishments proclaimed to the entire wasteland.

Also, the impact of Louis Armstrong and The Ink Spots in the first two games really felt like a gut punch, when you experience them one time and get thrown into the game all on your own. It felt to me like those songs were all that were left of the world before the war. That feeling doesn't translate into 3 through 4 when you listen to "I don't want to set the world on fire" and "butcher pete" on repeat.

Anyways, theres other things I can think of, like how the world doesn't feel barren or driven to the brink of starvation at all because you can walk into a 200 year old wreck and walk out with 5 crams, 2 nuka colas, a couple of stim paks, some rad-away, etc. and then move onto the next building, eventually turning yourself into an invincible post-apocalyptic Crassus, limited only by how much you can carry on your back. It might make sense if this was immediately after the bombs, but its been 200 years and you see Scavengers wandering around everywhere. If there are a bunch of buildings lying around, they've all should have been picked clean a century ago. Doesn't feel at all like you're working to survive if you can walk into the nearest building and walk out with everything you need to keep you going.

I might be reaching with this one though because I managed to get a pretty significant cap/gear stockpile in Fallout 2 pretty easily as well.

What do you all think? What are the little changes in how the games are played that changed the entire Fallout experience?

My dad told me a joke a few years ago and I think it perfectly pertains to the fallout 76 situation.

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 06:34 PM PST

A bull and his son were sitting at the top of the field looking down on a herd of female cows.

The son said "hey dad, how about we run down there and fuck one of those heffers?"

The bull turned to his son and said "Son, hows about we walk down there and fuck them all?"

Bethesda just wants to get a nut off at this point, no dinner plans just straight to the action
