I started Fallout: New Vegas for the first time, thanks to GamePass and i fucking love it.

I'm not the biggest Fallout 'nerd' out there, hell, i wouldn't even call myself a fan. I tried Fallout 4, it was ok, got boring really quickly and i tried Fallout 3 and i didn't really like it.

Decided to give New Vegas a chance after it was added to the GamePass library and i'm honestly surprised how good it is. There are a few things that are outdated for sure but overall i'm excited to play it. I even got sad the first hour (I was wandering to the girl that helped me at the start after finishing the quest where i had to collect a root near a house and a plant near a cemetry and when i came near here i saw that Cheyenne died and my heart was actually broken)

There is so far only two things i don't really like, third person mode (it's awful tbh, but i won't use it so no big deal) and i didn't when i accepted a quest from a stranger near a campfire that asked if i could help his girl (she got stuck with geckos or something) and i didn't know where she was because the pipboy didn't show me. I never really liked things like that in games.

    BUT!

The game is still fascinating, i love playing it and will 100% finish it.

    Favorite small faction or group?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 06:12 AM PST

As my flair shows, the Enclave is my favorite major faction in Fallout. But there are so many small factions and groups you meet throughout the wasteland. Which of those are your favorite? Mine is probably the Atom Cats. A bunch of fun loving greasers who customize and engineer power armor mods? That is amazing.

Edit: How could I forget the Enclave Remnants. I love them.

Ulyssyes is really lucky the Courier just happened to be an extreme badass.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 12:20 AM PST

His entire worldview hinges on blaming the messenger and he goes through two convoluted ways to try and get revenge/closure - the first being letting the Courier take the Platinum Chip and the second by putting them through the hellscape that is the Divide to hand deliver ED-E to him.

If it were literally anyone but this specific Courier this plan would never work. How the hell would he know that the courier who got bushwacked and almost killed by Benny could brave through the Marked Men, Deathclaws and Tunnelers to come find him? His entire plan and viewpoint hinges on the Courier being some supreme level badass when he would have no way of knowing this since he very likely went to the Divide after refusing the job.

It'd be like if a Supervillain picked a random person out of a crowd to be his archeemy and said person just happened to be a John Wick level combatant. If the Courier died would he just sit his BEARBULLBEARBULL whinging ass on the Divide till the end of days or something?

How I felt like the Factions should’ve been like in Fallout 4

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 05:00 PM PST

So I realized that in Fallout 4, in every faction you either become it's leader or a high ranking officer so to speak. But for some reason you're the errand boy still, imagine that the leader doing the dirty work. Not to say it's always fun but what I wish they could've done was a type of Base of Operations thing for each faction. Meaning you can use the board room in each of the buildings or make one if it doesn't have it and when the faction has a problem whether it be a settlement, synths, or helping recover things. Basically everything you do for the factions can be done in a assassins creed type thing where you send people to do it and there's a chance they'll make it or no and you determine skill and pay, or if you prefer to do things yourself you can volunteer you go either by yourself or with a few helpers whether it be your personal followers or npcs from the faction. And it'll make sense too. The Brotherhood of Steel can just infantry, The Railroad can use freed synths, Institute can use coursers, and The Minutemen can use those fucking settlements we always saved countless times.

Unless there's a mod for it how different would the game play out if there was a system like this?

I just finished my first soft-you-only-live-once play through of fallout NV

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 08:55 PM PST

YOLO rules that many a true nerd followed but a bit different instead of no healing at all I only heal by doctors, and I don't use fast travel.

Had an anticlimactic ending, cause I died in the broc flower cave, when I fell of the cliff into three rats and got cornered.

To those who play Fallout 4 on xbox with mods

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 12:14 AM PST

There is a mod that appeared like last week called skeleton suits that just adds an outfit to turn you into a skeleton but it does other things that it does not say like small things like you know add dicks to various creatures of the commonwealth such as super mutants lmao so just be warned about that one it left me flabbergasted because I didn't expect it

I attempted to make a lore and aesthetic friendly Hangman's Alley market to show off what is possible without mods (Done on XB1)

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:38 PM PST

    Here is the video

I designed this as a potential settlement that could be built by the people on the Commonwealth after the main storyline of the game. The description of the video says a bit more on this if you are interested in what I mean.

Fallout shower thought: what happened to the old fallout fans is now happening to me.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 02:25 AM PST

The OG fallout 1 and 2 fans really hated fallout 3, and me along with the very large majority of people st the time loved it and it reached critical mainstream success, and the general consensus to the old fallout fans was "get over it boomer it's been 10 years since a fallout came out the times are a changing." And we were a totally new generation of fallout fans who grew up with 3 and new Vegas and weren't even sapient when 1 and 2 came out.

And now with fallout 4 as an OG fan of 3 and new Vegas, I hate and despise fallout 4 so much still and did when it came out, but now that is the main fallout this generation is growing up with.

I'm 19 and fallout 3 was a MAJOR game in my childhood and got me into RPGS. I was playing that shit when I was 8! Now this new generation is like that with fallout. A lot of 14 year olds and stuff are really liking it and it's getting them into RPG games and the universe of fallout.

Just interesting to me to see what I once did to the first generation of fallout fans, happen now to me. Fallout 3 was my first rpg and I was totally in the camp of "it is a deep rpg, get with the times old man" and now I see the fallout 4 zoomers Saying this and I feel like I'm losing my mind, but I ain't even too mad cause we totally did this to fallout 1 and 2 fans. And it's crazy cause many many people here and online only have played fallout 4 and love it and defend it to death and never played fallout 3 and nv which we consider the real fallouts and I laugh at how fallout 4 is kind of a mainstream normie game and the people being introduced to fallout through fallout 4 don't know REAL role playing games like I do with 3 and new Vegas.

And we did this SAME shit to the OG fallout fans. I never played 1 or 2 untill recently and only played 3 and new Vegas and I felt like I was a real big fallout fan for playing 3. And the fallout 1 and 2 fans considered us to be idiot mainstream consumer normies who didn't know real role playing games till like they did with 1 and 2.

It is obviously over dramatic and stupid but I'm drunk and it made me laugh thinking about it

"First they came for the fallout 1 fans I did not say anything for I wasn't a fallout 1 fan." (Fallout 2 coming out with all its pop culture references and sort of advancing post post apocalyptic theme the original fans didn't like it too much)

"Then they came for the fallout 2 fans I did not say anything for I was not a fallout 2 fan" (when fallout 3 came out)

"Then they came for me ( a fallout 3 and new Vegas fan) and there was no one left to speak for me"

This is why I still think us fallout fans although we are all somewhat cool with eachother are a very divided fan group.

We have THE BOOMER: only likes fallout 1 and 2, all other fallouts are fake fallouts and are just shooters and are not even rpgs at all.

THE DOOMER: liked the green depressing Bethesda fallout 3 and considers it a great RPG and also loves new Vegas. Maybe even more but still loves 3 to death. Doesn't give a fuck about 1 and 2 that much.

The WANNA-BE BOOMER: hates fallout 3 and loves new Vegas to death and considers it a true successor to 1 and 2

The ZOOMER: is usually a younger kid 12-16 and loves fallout 4 and doesn't really give a fuck about any of the old games. 1, 2, 3, or nv.

Hopefully with wastelanders we see a lot more of what we were looking for in the first place

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 12:05 AM PST

In my personal experience Fallout has always been most enjoyable with exploration. "Oh this is over here? sweet! oh that's over there? cool!" where some things difficult? yes but they weren't impossible with 76 it's impossible at times therefore it's not fun! make it fun again... hopefully with wastelanders we we regain that experience but I'm not going to hold my breath. I wish we will wouldn't give up on it so easy but just tell them what we really want from the game and hope somebody inside listens.

Dear Bethesda, please please please can you just add a safe trading system? [Disscusion]

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 03:45 AM PST

I put my item(s) up, other player puts their item(s) up we both press confirm when happy with the trade and that's it. Simple as that really. Pretty sure at least 90% of the trading community would like this also.

Whislt I'm on the subject of trades, can we get a scroller to set item price instead of waiting forever to get it to where we want it?

    Thanks!

    Need help focusing

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 08:25 PM PST

For context: I have always been attracted towards RPG's. Because of my family's financial status during my upbringing I was only able to play FFVII and Valkyrie Profile on the PS1.

Some co-workers and other people I've come across in the past have raved about the Fallout franchise. I have NEVER played a Fallout game until I saw they had the GOTY Edition for FO4 on the PS4 store for like $19 this weekend. So I bought it and decided to give it a try. There are some aspect to the game that I really enjoy and have me coming back but, when I do come back to the game, I find myself being frustrated with the lack of resources and the inventory control (Been on a battle royale binge and I pick up everything) One of my coworkers has been helpful and explained certain quirks to the game and the inventory but I feel like I need more help. Right now I am at the point where I cleared the Corvega Assembly Plant near Lexington but ran out bullets and Stimpak's and I cannot find Carla anywhere. I am tempted to start over for the 3rd time.

Any advice? Any materials I should definitely pick up and others I should just ignore completely?

    Thanks in advance.

{THEORY} Fallout 4 is about a communist regime.

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 02:10 AM PST

I mean just think about it.

You recruit settlers then you force them to do jobs. And if you play the game like most people they have horrible living conditions.

I want r/fallout's opinion on this game

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 07:52 AM PST

    Outer Worlds. Yes, obviously.

I wanna buy the game but I'm on a tight budget atm and black friday's discount wasn't that great so I'm reeeeeally on the fence.

I asked the same questions to friends that played it but never played fallout.

As a fallout player since fallout 2, what can I expect from OW? Browsing youtube all I see are clickbaits "outer worlds is better than fallout", we know we can't take youtube seriously for shit anymore.

You, fallout players that played OW, what are your thoughts of it? What did it improve upon fallout 4... and what does F4 still does better than it?

Edit: Thanks for the inputs. Seems the point everyone agrees on is how short it is. Replayability is a big sale for me. I guess it could be seen with good eyes though: Companies trying to do what bethesda can't anymore. Let's hope they succeed so we can be free of Todd forever.
