Do you ever wonder how your character actually deals with all the horrible things that happen?

It was during my last playthrough of FO3, using TTW that the thought struck me; I was deep in some raider den, surrounded by headless corpses on hooks and spikes, sifting through the pockets of a similarly dismembered corpse I'd just shotgunned apart for some bottlecaps, when I remembered "I'm" a teenager fresh out of a vault.

I had this sudden mental image of my character with deep bags under the eyes and one hell of a thousand-yard stare uttering 'how did I get used to this?' to herself as she moved on to the next corpse.

Does anyone else wonder about the actual mental effects all the violence, death, destruction, monsters, blood, smells (thank goodness we don't have to experience those) have? Especially to say the Lone Wanderer as a fresh teenage vault dweller, or the Sole Survivor coming from a nice clean pre-war world (I know Nate was a soldier, but still).

Is it just me or Dead Money is one of the most horrifying products of gaming?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 01:19 PM PDT

It's all in the title, really. From the supermutant with split personalities, to the town itself — this DLC is a fucking instrument of psychological terror.

I'd love to hear your opinions.

If you are asked to create a vault, what wicked experiment would you conduct and why?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 07:29 AM PDT

For me one of my favorite parts by far of the fallout universe is the pre war culture.

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 03:55 PM PDT

Idk there's just something about that retro future 50s vibe that I love so much. It makes the game pretty unique and exploring rarely get old because of it.

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 10:38 AM PDT

Is it a melee character? A sniper? A sneaky rogue? I am still new to the builds in the Fallout games. What would the playstyle of that character be?

    Strength - 86%

    Perception - 86%

    Agility - 58%

    Intelligence - 28%

    Charisma - 28%

    Luck - 28%

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 05:22 PM PDT

To be clear I'm talking about the game not the toxic fan base, I enjoy fallout new Vegas overall but I understand that it has a lot of issues and I just wanted to know what were some of the bigger ones for people that don't enjoy it.

Has there ever been a settlement workshop inside the Cambridge police station motor pool? I swear in my very first play through I was able to make it a settlement, don't remember a mod I had that would add one either. Am I going mad?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 07:39 PM PDT

I found this about a year ago and heard no mention of it online. I kind of just forgot about it but i was wondering if maybe anyone could make sense of it. I posted earlier but i put the reptile house by accident. It is in the welcome center and there is a working terminal in it. I would post screencaps but since I can't for some reason ill just link to them. here:

So... What happens if you take Paladin Danse to Acadia after Blind Betrayal?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 07:24 AM PDT

Of course assuming you saved Paladin Danse. Does he have any unique dialogue? Is he still stuck in his old Brotherhood ways? I'd find out myself but I'd rather not go through it all again and I literally only just thought about this. All my old saves from Far Harbor were deleted to make room for save files of other characters.

I think it would be amazing if they'd added any unique dialogue between Danse and DiMA but as aforementioned I don't know if they did. Please enlighten me.

Who would win between the Courier, Sole Survivor, Lone Wanderer, and Vault Dweller?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 05:53 PM PDT

Imagine if those four met up.

Let's say that the Couriers got 7 stimpaks, a vault suit, Tagged medicine, guns, and speech. He's got average stats and wields a 9mm pistol.

The Lone Wanderer's got a Vault Suit, 10mm pistol, 7 stimpaks, average S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and tagged Medicine, Small Guns, and Lockpick.

Vault Dweller tags Small Guns, Medicine, and Big Guns. He has average stats, along with a 10mm Pistol, vault suit, and 3 Stimpaks.

Sole Survivor gets Vault Suit, 10mm Pistol, 5 Stimpaks, and a 6 in Agility but the rest are 4.

I need to know if a mod exists to prevent fences from colliding with other fences in Fallout 4 (Description)

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 08:24 PM PDT

I'm trying to make a walled city in Outpost Zimonja.

I have downloaded workshop snap and unsnapper so that the fences won't snap to each other, and when I need them to, I can turn it back on. I have also downloaded place everywhere so that I can place fences where they're not supposed to be --halfway into other fences.

However, I have yet to be able to find a mod where I can stop from scaffolding and junk fences with wood posts sticking out from popping upwards and preventing me from putting it on the ground. When they collide, I can't simply place it into the other fence like I can with simple wall fences, the ones with the wooden posts coming out at a 45 degree angle, or any fence that is being placed on a fence like that forces the fence you're placing to pop up, and I can't lower it.

Does anyone know if there is a mod that prevents this, or a batch file that I can use in the command console that will prevent this from happening?

    Headcanon about synths (Spoilers)

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 08:22 PM PDT

I believe Synths were being developed by a team operating at CIT to replace troops on the battlefield. This was the original purpose for the now mostly collapsed rooms that you fight through when you attack the Institute. The bunker was built as a secret facility used by a team of military scientists, robco engineers, and CIT engineers to develop new technologies for the military which is why you will see "prototype" sentry bots and other militarized robots. The people working in the bunker at the time when the Nuclear War started survived and went on to found what became known as the Institute. There they continued to research and develop synths with the plan to release these synths to help rebuild Boston and the surrounding areas. However, the citizens did not trust the synths due to their robotic appearances. The Institute decided that the synths needed a more human appearances, so utilizing human DNA, they began to make synths appear human. In order to integrate smoothly into the commonwealth, persons of interest were taken and a synth copy was used to replace them.

Only thing in game I have to build on this point is Nick Valentine. Nick is a synth that seems to bridge the gap between gen 2 and gen 3 synths. However instead of being fully AI, a human volunteer was used and had his consciousness loaded into the synth. This human, was a PREWAR detective. Unless the Institute found a way to save a person's consciousness digitally, or they suddenly developed Gens 1 and 2 within the first few years after the war when a prewar detective would still be alive...

Gen 1 and possibly Gen 2 synths were built before the war.

    Fallout 4 factions (spoilers)

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 09:52 PM PDT

Everyone complains - but the choices are pretty clear if you pay attention to what civilians/members of the factions say.

I've heard people complain that they can't beat the game solely with minutemen - but I also read giving Mama Murphy jet at the right time will tell you via the sight how to get into the institute. The game clearly pushes you to side with them at the very least to begin with. They're morally the best choice and making the right choice/being a good leader comes at the cost of your free time. (Defending the people you pledged to help). They're all willing to make and if you explore, you see have made sacrifices which helps explain their eccentricity in each regard. Their flaws are almost always due to poor leadership/organization which is why Preston urges you to take over so incessantly after proving you're willing to risk your life to help those in need.

People complain about the institute because there aren't radiant quests - why tf would you join the institute if you didn't want to isolate yourself from the commonwealth? That's their whole reason for existing - making things easy and as automated as possible. They literally make machines designed to kill special ops style (coursers obviously... or maybe gorillas) Also the kidnapping is explained by Shawn when he talks about why he was kidnapped from the vault and that the institute believes they're helping people by taking them from a corrupt wasteland and trying to help their families by giving a synth replacement- this is at least the cover up. The real reason seems to be carrying out various test runs of things like genetically altered seeds that produce higher yields before the institute puts it into action in their safe haven - the Warwick quest for example. It's basically your shamelessly evil play through and if you thought it was a good or even neutral choice wtf is wrong with you??

People complain about BoS for whatever reason but to me they're the most straightforward- BoS is your typical jarhead numbnut experience where you're basically on the opposite end of the horse shoe with raiders. Raw power, except the dominance is just subtle enough and their usefulness to the commonwealth is just vague enough politically to be accepted. Notice that raiders fight super mutants and ferals and beasts as well. The only difference is BoS won't kill you on sight unless you make it apparent unless you want what they want too. Greedy racists who don't really share their technology, similar to the institute in that regard although humans around may still benefit. But they will turn on humans too like in bunker hill or the power plant. Have fun I've never joined BoS but will eventually in a play through just to experience all storylines. Another evil play through in a more American fashion.

Finally people complain about the railroad because they "live in a cave" and are "underwhelming" but I think they're based on the Underground Railroad, have tons of symbolism, and similar to the minutemen sacrifice their safety and comfort to help others. When I finally realized what the freedom trail was, being hellbent on figuring it out without a guide/internet, and realizing the lanterns left all over the map were them, the fact they sort of coincide with the minutemen but are more edgy and help in a different way - seriously cool fucking faction. They aren't so much against helping people as they feel there's a lack of people helping synths - if you join both Des is only disappointed it wasn't the railroad who took out the institute and you can still work for them. They are the other "good" choice.

Everyone makes mistakes. It's hard to be a leader. Criticize all you want but the answers are all there if you pay attention.

Next I'll go the anarchy route. I fucking love this game still.

What would Legion territory have looked like?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2019 05:46 PM PDT

For those of you that don't know; New Vegas was supposed to be twice the size and focus on Legion territory on the Colorado. While I'm interested in seeing what function the towns would serve;because by all accounts the legion does a great job controlling it's own territory I'm wondering what quests would be available.

    Some Ideas:

Recapturing slaves or helping them to escape

Obtaining unique items patterned on the Roman gods (like a prototype for a stealth boy helmet based on Pluto's helm of darkness).

Dealing with a "Harriet Tubman" faction; the daughters of Hecate-

Advocating on behalf of the legions "vassals"

    Bootlegging or drug running

Killing legion officers for the NCR (turns legion hostile if you get caught)

Securing a clean source of water

    Any other ideas?
