Fallout 3 ,The Pitt first experience.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 11:11 PM PDT

Hello fellow wanderers ! So I just finished The Pitt , and I have to say it , This is the first time in my entire life I feel thankful to China ever ! , Yes friends I am thankful for that beautiful Chinese stealth suit !

First of all I know most people would beg to differ that The Pitt is not scary or creepy since they played far more horrifying games such as Outlast and Dead space , but I am one of the few poor bastards who get their anxiety from 0-100 in horror games in mere seconds ! So playing horror games is out of question for me ,I love watching them on youtube but thats as far as I can get.

Dealing with Trogs was so tiring for me , I can easily kill and fist fight a horde of Death claws in the game since I am level 30 , I dont get nervous or anxious from them or Ghouls or anything else in the game.

But those god damn creepy abomination of monsters are a different case , and their look reminding me of that creepy crawling monster from RE2,3 remake did not help my situation at all .

Needless to say I spent all my time in the Pitt Steelyard In stealth mode with my chinese suit, shady hat and my hand dart gun V3, I didnt wish for anythong to be over faster than this section of the game and I already spent 85 hours in this playthrough for my first character !

I already gave up on collecting 100 Ingots for that silent weapon that I read about since I wont be coming back to that place, and 3 Dog calls the capital wasteland a hell hole , I never expected to feel happy for seeing the Capital wasteland ever in my life !

So,how was your first experience in the pitt ? Would love to know your experience :)

    Hypothetical Tweak for Fo4 Maxson

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 08:46 PM PDT

I really love Fallout 4, it got me through the worst times of my life, but it's not perfect, and I enjoy thinking of ways to make it better. I'm kinda doing a Nando V Movies thing, so here's my idea:

    What if Maxson wasn't elder?

In think it would be interesting if, instead of him being the new elder of the BoS after Lyons' death, Sarah was still alive and in charge, and he was just a sentinel. Instead of him being undisputed leader of the Brotherhood (because seriously, he's like, 20, even though his beard game is strong), he would just be the leader of an expedition to the Commonwealth.

That way, he would have a real desire to prove himself, and live up to the Brotherhood's ideals, which could lead him to be sort of rash and uncompromising. There could even be a good advisor/bad advisor thing with one from Lyon's Brotherhood, and one from the Outcasts. He could still have the fiery determination to crush the institute, defeat the synths, and save the world, but there would be a little more self doubt in there, and some real nerves about failing. It wouldn't just be, "We are in the right, because we are the Brotherhood, and we are Glorious", it would be a little more like, "We are the Brotherhood, and we will not fail, and I will prove that I am worthy of my name, because a lot of my self worth is tied up in this." I just like it when a character has a little more neurosis to them, especially when they're kind of a bad guy.

It could even open up new lines of story and dialogue, debating the real purpose of the BoS, and convincing him to do more good. Plus, it could let the Capital BoS retain it's characterization as (mostly) the good guys (unless you're a ghoul), and even survive the destruction of the Prydwen.

I know that (air)ship has sailed, but I just like talking about tweaks to stories. So thoughts?

Also, please no Bethesda hate, he mas more personality than almost everyone (leaving out Hanlon) in the NCR combined.

Fallout 1 and 2 Intros In Color If You're Interested

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 10:21 PM PDT

I put the Fallout 1 and 2 intros through the DeOldify AI and it worked fairly well.

    Fallout w/ color: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3cgRCwnKBg&t=104s

    Fallout 2 w/ color: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V-leu-Czwc&t=2s

Please don't report this for spam or self-promotion, I'm not in it for that. I just wanted to share these videos with you guys because there is still a lot of people in this subreddit that are interested in the old Fallout games. And if you've really gotten into those games you've probably seen that intro more than one time :) Yes, this was inspired by the restoration of the Fallout 4 intro.

Here's DeOldify if you want to try this for yourself (not sponsored but I wish): https://github.com/jantic/DeOldify

Anyone wish they can have bows in fallout 3-4

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 05:20 PM PDT

Anyone wish they could craft or find bows in fallout 3, 4, and new Vegas sure we have laser rifles, pistols launchers that can shoot mini nukes, and power fists sure all of those are cool but one play through I would've loved to do is an archer play through without bow mods sure fallout 76 did it but the bows in that are bad and I think fo3, new Vegas, 4 would've done it better I don't know maybe it's me wish I could be a bowman.

I had no idea there was an alternate way to complete Stealing Independence [FO3]

Included some images of the dialogue options. Obviously Spoilers below...

So everytime I've done this quest I've either talked Button around into surrendering or just gone in smashed him to bits and taken it. I'm playing with TTW installed, and Fallout 3's speech check system is a bit more random than FNV's. I probably could have talked him around, but I figured, let me see if there is another way. Turns out, you can go to the Arlington Library, get Restoration supplies and then hoof it back and he produces a Forged Copy of the Declaration of Independence. Just thought that was neat. I know that this gets me less xp but with TTW installed, XP is just handed out like candy anyways (due to FNV), so I am more the type to go with the more "fun" option.

    Also, eff Abraham Washington.

Those that played 1/2 back when they came out, what story elements do you still remember?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 04:29 PM PDT

In F1 I remember how intense the Glow was, reading the holotapes and also the hallway leading to the master was insane.

I remember being like 15 at the time and confused why I couldnt make characters under 16.

In F2 I still remember the village where they used fake dead bodies to scare people away and all lived underground. The car of course was cool. I remember finding tons of glitches also.

[spoiler] Playing fallout 4 second time because honest dan didn't spawn so I can't get infinite caps and I'm trying to figure out which faction to join looking more for the fun factor than the actual ending

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 01:19 AM PDT

Minute men are off the table because fuck them. all they are is glorified fetch quests. 90% of the time and dull as fuck.

Railroad is the first I did enjoyed the railroad gun, can you get it outside of the railroad quest?

Brotherhood looks fun as hell currently flying with paladin danse to the blimp

Institute as the first time I played I was a double agent for the railroad and from what I could tell minus the final mission the most fun mission was the boat area

Or should I just play them all to the last point I can get all the perks of each faction companion and power armor set and then chose what ending I feel like?

Does New Vegas have an endpoint, or can you play forever as in FO4?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 09:49 PM PDT

I've only played FO4 in the series. I understand New Vegas does not have radiant quests, so I assume that once you get to a certain point, gameplay will properly end for your character?

Fallout new Vegas remaster or fallout 2 remake

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 01:57 AM PDT

Which one would you rather see happen

I'd prefer a remake of fallout 2 and have them do what happened with resident evil two I've been playing a lot of fallout 2 lately and there's a lot that I personally think should have been improved. One thing in particular is the map thing that happens when you leave a landmark or settlement, I don't really like this because I don't think it emphasizes the fact that it's a post nuclear wasteland because you don't really see anything but the landmarks or settlements I mentioned earlier. But one thing to note about that too is how would they fix that if they decided to change it. I think it'll be very interesting.

And about new Vegas I think new Vegas is perfect as is and while yes it does need a face lift in graphics and bug and crash fixes I think new Vegas is great how it is and I wouldn't want to see a remaster for it for a long time. And no Bethesda doesn't hate obsidian, believe me or don't but I have an older brother who's been working at Bethesda for a bit now and from what he learned from his time there is that Bethesda as a whole still likes obsidian.

Please tell me what you think. Also please don't get upset/angry about other people's thoughts or opinions on this. It just ruins the fun of the discussion.

Fallout 4 factions and Companions take on the Mojave.

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 07:17 PM PDT

Something I've been thinking since last night in an alternate timeline where FO4 major (and some minor) factions would have taken on Mojave and its mythical nuclear winter. Just a hypothetical scenario, with no major determinators and or Chosen Ones in sight (aka the Player Character)

Maxson's BoS: I think we know that Maxson's leadership may help this dying chapter get back up on their feet. They can get a solid hold over Hidden Valley and make into a bona fide Brotherhood citadel. And like Elijah, I imagine he would be focused on retaking HELIOS-One, and or getting rid of Mr. House (probably if word of his presence is loud outside the Vegas walls).

The dowside of Maxson's hold over Hidden Valley is that they may become a painted target for both Legion and NCR. And most likely they will abandon the Liberty Prime project once they got ahold of ARCHIMEDES. Novac would be under martial law of the Brotherhood and the path between 188 and Novac may become a No Man's Land but with NCR against the Brotherhood.

The Railroad: Aside from helping run away synths, they can help out sheltering escaped Legion slaves and other humanitarian activities. And they would have a good mutual relationship with the Followers of Apocalypse. And they would have a somewhat notable presence on Freeside and Westside.

But without a determinator or the player character, I doubt they would even grow strong enough to be a militant resistance like in 4. And honestly I would prefer it that way, I like them just helping out to escaped synths and tending to the less fortunate.

The Institute: okay this may be a bit of a stretch because of their nature. But the most likely to happen is instead of the Father, they would be lead/employed with Mr. House himself due to his connection with them. With their resources, they can help Mr. House build a temporary synth body and most likely the Securitrons would be either render obsolete or be kept as frontliners; OR build a new model.

A more frightening possibility, Mr. House may gain the ability to override control of any latest generation Synth. Imagine Mr. House speaking to you as he jumps from one synth to another or speaking to you through multiple bodies and voices all at once, like Ultron from Marvel. Now that's a scary thought. Maybe have an ending that even if you destroy his real physical body, he already uploaded all of his consciousness into an another synth just out of your reach.

Problem is, if House were to ultimately align with them, the families of The Strip might not exist or just not employed at all. He'll just populate it with synths instead and make the Strip becoming further a faux utopia.

That and they could have an under-the-desk deal with the Legion, buying slaves as experimental subjects.

The Minutemen: Probably the easiest of the lot. I would imagine they would become an employ or be absorbed into the NCR or become something of a special company like First Recon. They would have small outposts nearby small settlements like Goodsprings, and Primm and maybe Westside too. Or become frontliners against Fiend raiding parties near McCarran and Westside gates along North Vegas. Maybe even 1 or 2 of them being hired as Caravan escorts.

Given their characters, a few notable names I can see being in the ranks or affiliates of the Minutemen. Sunny Smiles, Primm Slim, Easy Pete, Doc Mitchell, Mean Sonofabish, Jules, Crandon were the ones who could qualify.

    -----------------

    To the Companions.

Cait: I imagine Cait would be very popular in The Thorn. But instead of human gladiators, she'd be also up against dangerous creatures. Which if you think about it, would make her extra bad-ass.

That or she will become a de-facto leader of the Westside Militia. Dunno why but I think the role would fit her.

Codsworth: The basic of the bunch but I would think he would fit in Goodsprings quite well. Given enough, he would volunteer to tend to Trudy's bar or have some choice words with Victor. That or become Doc Mitchell's assistant, he seems harmless enough.

Curie: No question she would fit right in the Old Mormon Fort, maybe helping with Arcade and Julie tend to the rehabilitation of chem addicts around Freeside.

Danse: Of course he would be on the Hidden Valley Citadel. But I always imagine he would be Veronica's Antithesis, bickering left and right like Alistair and Morrigan in Dragon Age: Origins. One is an outgoing free-spirit, and the other a strict by-the-rules stick in the mud.

Deacon: Given his line of work, he would definitely fit in still a spy for the Railroad, but this time either as one of Caesar's Frumentarii or NCR's troopers at McCarran.

Dogmeat: The Goode Boye would fit as one of Old Lady Gibson's many dogs, she adopted. Like Rey, he would be always by her side at all times.

Hancock: A wild guess of mine that he would be either a resident ghoul of Novac, one of the members of Jason Bright's group on REPCONN, or one of the survivors of Searchlight incident.

MacReady: I would imagine him being a former NCR trooper now hanging out in Freeside as a paid bodyguard. Given his nature I can see him being friends with The Kings and keeping tabs with The King himself in Freeside, not necessarily one of them.

Nick Valentine: Oh boy this is a hard one, while he IS a detective after all, I don't know what part in New Vegas would take him. He might work as a contractor for the NCR as an Odd Jobs guy, I doubt he would involve himself on the Strip.

Strong: I'm still torn about it if he would fit on Black Mountain first or Jacobstown. He may fit for an abused "Dumb-Dumb" by Tabitha guarding Raul's prison. He would have moments with Raul just them chatting it up. Or he could be Doc Henry's assistant along with Calamity, and a Big Horner shepherd with Lily always coddling him.

    Fallout 3 No Kill Runs

Can Liberty Prime (FO3) be damaged at all in normal gameplay?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 06:16 PM PDT

Searched through several reddit post and other forums for answers on this, and the wiki. Found contradicting answers.

I know for a fact he has 5 million HP (and thus. in theory, can be brought to 0). But in actual vanilla gameplay missions you have with him he *might* have some sort of... property or tag or mark on him in console that prevents him from actually taking any damage. Meaning he will always be at 5 million health, and not 1 HP less, no matter what you do to him. I have seen contradictory answers on if this is actually the case/if he actually has some sort of tag in normal gameplay that makes him truly invulnerable. And I'm not talking about him being an 'essential character'. I mean is there some sort of property that prevents him from even registering damage at all?

To word it another way. If I go into the mission 'Take it back with' a fuck ton of ammo and weapons being carried on Dogmeat's back (paralysing palm perk), and then decide to spend the next 5 years without sleeping or eating or giving my PC a break, and I manage to avoid all of his attacks, and continuously shoot him, will he eventually die? Or get knocked unconscious at least... (cause I'm pretty sure he has an essential tag too).

Do you think there are some pre-war society that were left unharmed?

    Posted: 15 Jul 2020 07:24 AM PDT

In countries like Brazil, some parts of Africa and New Zealand where may have been left unharmed by the nuclear war, do you think the cities in these places still have their pre-war society or they fell in completely anarchy? I know nuclear fallout can affect any part of the world even if a nuke doesn't hit it directly, but if they somehow managed to survive radiation poisoning, maybe their populations could continue to have some pre-war standards.

How I would’ve improved Fallout 4 and 76’s weapon customization systems

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 03:19 AM PDT

Many people love 4's (and 76's) weapon crafting systems for the sheer amount of options and the fact that it can make low-tier weapons viable in the late game. I do too, but I also feel like it makes every weapon feel "samey" even if they aren't. This is going to reference 4 more than 76 because I have more time (and thus experience) in 4.

Take the Combat Rifle and the Assault Rifle in 4. Both can be made semi or full auto, both can mount scopes of all kinds, both can be suppressed, both can take basically the same barrel options, etc. The problem was that the Assault Rifle took up 1/3 of the screen and looked like ass (ammo was expensive and heavy, too, and there were no good unique options).

My take on the system would have each weapon fit in a niche. The Combat Rifle can only be made semi-auto and can be suppressed, the Assault Rifle would only be full-auto and could not be suppressed. And so on. Also, trim the options down a bit. You're only ever going to use the Advanced or Powerful Automatic Receivers, either make the other options viable or get rid of them.

Only certain weapon types should be able to be suppressed, this would make perks like Ace Operator more interesting because instead of buffing literally every weapon (because who didn't mount silencers on everything?), it would only be able to buff semi-automatic rifles, bolt actions, and semi-automatic pistols because only those guns would be able to mount silencers.

Energy weapons should also get a flat armor penetration amount, no matter what. Maybe laser weapons ignore 30% and plasma weapons ignore 60% (to make up for the slow projectiles and expensive ammo)? I was otherwise happy with the customization for energy weapons in 4.

Gauss weapons shouldn't be able to be suppressed, at all. Sure, I can buy (not really) that all the regular ballistic weapons use subsonic ammo but the whole point of a gauss weapon is that it accelerates a projectile to hypersonic speeds. Where's the sonic boom go? I know the answer is "Hollywood silencer," but please? Also 4's and 76's Gauss Rifles look fuckugly. 76's gauss shotgun, pistol, and minigun look fine though. Keep that aesthetic.

Shotguns shouldn't get suppressors, either. They're loud. The Pump-Action Shotgun shouldn't be demonstrably inferior to the Double Barrel (in damage) or the Combat Shotgun (in literally everything else), either. Otherwise, I liked the customization.
