(FNV) The Fallout NV benny sex appeal rating chart

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 05:51 AM PST

Finally, after 8 hours, I have compiled enough data to rank every Fallout NV NPC's (minus children) sex appeal ranking, and proving once and for all how deeply unsexy Benny is on a mathematical level.

edit: thanks for the gold, I'm glad to see everyone understanding the importance of making sure that unsexy ring-a-ding-ding bitch knows his place as the deeply unsexy goblin he is.

edit: silver as well? glad to know everyone shares a strong mutual disdain for the physical manifestation of Frank Sinatra's farts.

edit: Props to the absolute sex lord who gave me platinum. Heres to another year of tracking down Dean Martin's unfuckable cousin and shooting him in his mathematically proven unsexy face.

How poetic that 200 years after the resources wars concluded in an atomic fireball that I am scavenging across the commonwealth, killing people for oil to upgrade my power armor

[FO4] I don't want to leave Far Harbor.

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 10:23 PM PST

The soundtrack, the people, the atmosphere. I love it. I love it I love it I love it.

I really wish we could've gotten the room we rent from Mitch as a permanent house if we brought back his uncle.

Also, unlike the Commonwealth, Far Harbor is a place where I didn't accidentally fuck up and let bad things happen sometimes. Everything worked out marvelously and I feel at peace there.

    Great DLC.

New Vegas’ World building/map was Amazing

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 11:57 PM PST

I recently started up a modded play through of this game for the 90th time and had a bunch of LODs installed and increased draw distance which allowed me to see basically a whole lot more of the games locations in the far distance. What really struck me is how believable and sensible the world looks and feels. Even though it's quite small technically, it has an incredible way of giving you a feeling of this vast desert scale. Additionally, the way all of the towns are placed makes sense and they are numerous enough that New Vegas actually feels connected/populated, and they have interesting quests attached to all of them.

Just saying this because I'm really surprised as people often criticize the map/design for being too boring and empty but I find it suits it perfectly. Very few games since have achieved such cohesive open world design at that scale sense imo.

I found a very interesting take on why Bethesda's Fallouts are worse than Interplay and Obsidian's

Anyone hopes in the next Fallout game we get more themes of mutant body horror like in the first game?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 12:53 PM PST

In the first game, body horror was a major theme in regards to the Master's plans for the Wasteland. Turning people into mutants or fusing them together with him (stated in his audio diary that his idea of the Unity is partially literal).

I wish to see more centaur-like abominations. Human bodies twisted and not super mutant. A threat as terrifying as The Master himself.

Can't download a mod on Xbox one

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 03:19 AM PST

I'm trying to download the project helljumper mod on my xbox one and it just won't work. I have just enough space to get it and I can still download other mods. Its shown downloading to 100% then it stops and it just won't be in my load order or downloaded at all. No prompt saying something went wrong or anything. Any idea what might be going on?

Found a way to sell the Sierra Madre gold at full value

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:54 PM PST

It takes more than 150 transactions to do it and like a year in game, but it can be done in vanilla FNV.

Get your barter to at least 25 and get "Accepted" status with the Great Khans. I stopped by the camp behind Quarry Junction and said I'd look into their delivery but didn't go any further and had enough standing to trade with the armorer at that point. If you can get accepted status with the Followers of the Apocalypse, you can halve the number of game days needed to do this.

Take your gold to the armorer and exchange as much of it as you can for their caps and anything else they sell. With the accepted status and minimum barter, all items are sold to you at cost rather than the 10%+ markup that is normally applied to players with up to 100 barter. When I checked they had ~2400 caps but at least 100,000 worth of ammo alone, rockets being a big part of that.

Once you've turned your gold into other items, those can be sold back to the armorer at their full value over time as their caps replenish. If you bought anything that is too expensive for the armorer to buy back directly (power fist), you'll want to exchange that item for a number of lesser items, like ammo, as stock becomes available.

Items you bought from the armorer can also be sold at full value to Dr. Usanagi in the New Vegas Clinic, with Followers accepted status, allowing you to exchange just shy of one bar's value every 6 game days. If you "join" the followers, Julie Farkas offers full trade and it looks like her cap pool actually tops out around 3500.

Obviously it's a bit of a pain, but I'd yet to see any other strategy for getting their full value - just suggestions for merchants that could offer enough caps and stock to cover their normal 90% sale value seen at 100 barter.

This strategy is also useful for converting pre-war money at full value since it's considered an inventory item rather than currency and normally caps at 90% face value.

I wonder if I can break 1 million caps without scrounger...

Fallout 1 - any must knows or advice for a first time blond play through?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 03:41 PM PST

Building myself up to play through all the Fallout games (minus 76). I would have just turned 4 when Fallout 1 came out, so for me it's from a gaming time I'm not used to. I want to play through as blind as possible in terms of story but I'm also very much aware older games can be a bit janky, or how mechanics work not be particularly obvious, or perhaps some things just weren't balanced at all and punching your way through the game with bare fist just isn't viable no matter how much fun it may be.

So I'm looking to avoid the above, anything that could stop me actually making it to the end. I will probably only play through once as I have quite the backlog to do. I'm not looking to challenge myself in any particular way, I'm just looking to enjoy the game from start to finish, and then hop onto Fallout 2 and do the same thing. My main interest is the story, lore and world building, which normally gets me to pick speech related talents in such games. I'm eager to hear if speech is any good.

Anything you can think of that would be good to know beforehand would be appreciated. Looking forward to delving into the world.

My Nuka Cola Mini fridge stopped working... anyone know how to possibly fix it?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 09:24 PM PST

So I got the Nuka Cola Mini Fridge 2 Christmas' ago. Recently it stopped working and the fan has stopped working. The light also flickers as if it is a electrical problem or the motor within the fridge is broken. Does anyone know how i can fix it? I've heard of people replacing parts in it and it being able to work again but I'm not sure what I need to fix it. Anyone know what parts might be needed for it to work again? I didn't know where else to ask this since ThinkGeek was bought out by Gamestop so I can't call their customer support. Plus this unit was extremely limited so I doubt they could do Anything about it anyway. Thanks!

Jazz music makes me feel so good and warm because it brings me back to the days of spending hours doing quests in Freeside and Old World Blues

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 07:03 AM PST

I'm drinking in a pub rn and they put on a jazz playlist that sounds like the music from the Mysterious Broadcast and such a warm nostalgic feeling came over me. I had that station on basically non stop during New Vegas, nothing will ever top that game for me, I miss it so fucking much.

FO4 Xbox- Every time I die in survival it boots me out to the main menu. I installed the unofficial patch, that’s it.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 04:10 AM PST

Does survival mode not work with that patch on Xbox? Is there anything I can do to fix this? I added this mod because I was sick of the bugs and freezes in game. I got melees 200 feet into the air and decided I needed to fix things. But getting kicked out to the main menu at every death is worse.

Leaving the Sierra Madre - rich even without the gold

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 08:56 AM PST

Throwing some details out there, because there's always someone that didn't know you could do some various things in FNV.

Just finished a vanilla hardcore playthrough of Dead Money and, even without the gold bars I managed to steal (Implant GRX for the win), you can still walk out of there with close to 200,000 caps.

I returned all the cigarette packs/cartons and pre-war apparel to the vending machines, scoured for chips and converted any fission batteries to chips through Christine's perk, then went gambling in the casino. Played blackjack until I got all the comps and hit the limit and cashed out over 18K in pre-war money. If I wanted to "game" it, a max bet on a single roulette number just before the limit would have paid off even more.

Now that I'm back in the Mojave, I can trade with the Great Khan armorer and Dr. Usanagi in the New Vegas clinic at full value (with accepted status) at the full 10 caps per pre-war money. It's going to take something like 40 round trips to get all 180k+ caps, but I can work it in while I do other stuff - not like I don't have money on hand while I get the rest exchanged out.

With the vending machine and vouchers at the bunker, no need to buy aid, weapon repair kits or ammo. The Sink supplies clean food, water and converts junk into all kinds of useful items for crafting - ammo conversions in particular.

If I wanted to go crazy with it, I could put extra chips into super stimpacks to sell and weapon repair kits to increase the value of broken guns I loot and sell.

Time to go talk to Ulysses, I suppose.

    What Happened To Fallout 76?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 03:30 AM PST

I'm a huge fan of Fallout 3 & Fallout New Vegas. I've missed the opportunity to play 4, and jumped directly to 76 demo on PS4.

Either I've missed the concept or the game became way to realistic. It took over an hour before I had my first gun which you have to steal/manufacture yourself. I thought I was going to jump in the action like in previous Fallouts or like Far Cry. After playing the demo for over 3 hours, it seems I've spent more my time just walking, strolling around without any main goal, loot or guns.

    Am I missing something?

[Fallout 3] Fix 2019, and the problem isnt Windows, it's your PC.

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 02:53 PM PST

Disclaimer - I have the game for steam so idk if it'll work for other platforms.

Go into the fallout3.ini filein your games folder, mine was default to the my games folder under my documents. And change these settings

bUseThreaddedAI=1 (This should equal one, mine was set to a different value originally)

iNumHavokThreads=2 (this should equal two, also it may be named something different)

I searched everywhere and was told I had to run fallout 3 in compatibility mode and as administrator, then saw a post somewhere and it said to do this and now my game runs pretty well, even better than in compatibility mode XD.

Hope this helps you as much as it helped me! I can finally have my game time be tracked and open the steam overlay!

200 Years is a Lonnnnng Time

    Posted: 29 Jan 2020 10:09 AM PST

I was reading this great thread ( https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/evegxe/its_a_shame_that_in_fallout_4_that_they_didnt/ ) and having an interesting discussion with u/Mandemon90 about my frustration that, 200 years after the Great War, no civilization had emerged outside of the NCR. The Wasteland, centuries after the war, remains largely dominated by subsistence farming and raiders.

Consider that for thousands of years, human civilization *more advanced* than what we see in the Wastelands flourished, absent the technological remnants that exist in Fallout 4. There's no real excuse for that. We see that pre-war information is abundant and plentiful in the Fallout universe: terminals still work, the Boston Public Library is still intact, various laboratories survived the nuclear exchange. It's not as though human culture reverted to the Stone Age.

So it is really absurd to me that outside of the NCR (which, as u/Mandemon90 pointed out to me, largely emerged due to the individual heroism of our PCs), *nothing* has changed since a few months after the bombs dropped. Really? Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome all had more advanced societies than the post-war Fallout world, and they had no access to the immensely advanced knowledge that survives - perhaps not in complete form, but partially at minimum - in the 2200s.

I don't know. Maybe there is no point to this, but it just really bothers me.
