My 2 favorite characters are Moira Brown and Ulysses. I wish they would meet each other.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 03:33 AM PST

When you ask Moira about why she wants to make the Wasteland Survival Guide, you can get a speech about how instead of trying to make the world exactly the way it was again, we can have something practical and beautiful. She says the world shattered like glass and we can make something like a mosaic.

Ulysses talks about pieces of history scattered in the remnants of the old world. To say he appreciates history is an understatement. However, when discussing House, and how House wants the world to be exactly the way it was before, Ulysses says House "must be silenced."

Even though she is always looking forward and he sees through history's eyes, they both have the same viewpoint. I wish they would meet. As ghouls.

    Custom Fallout-inspired game crate.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 07:01 PM PST

These projects, though fairly simple, brought me a lot of joy and relaxation over the holiday season. My wife gifted me a crate to store my video games and board games in and I couldn't help but theme it around my favorite gaming franchise. I also found a mini-fridge online that looked like the perfect style to convert into a Nuka Mini-Fridge. Thought you guys might appreciate it all!

Update on Fallout 4: Capital Wasteland

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 02:24 AM PST

I'm a huge Fallout 3 fan, and I would love to experience the game in a more modern engine (yes I know it's the same engine but you know what I mean). I've seen a few videos on the Fallout 4: Capital Wasteland about a year ago, but haven't heard about it since. Is there any update on it? Or is it dead?

FO3: Mothership Zeta crashes while trying to load.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:42 AM PST

I get to the crashed ship, I float up into the air, and then I'm staring at my desktop wallpaper. The game doesn't freeze or anything, it just goes straight to completely closing the game. I couldn't find any way to fix it.

Edit: It has to be the intro that's fucked up. I discovered I can play MZ by using console command coc and teleporting into it. Kinda ruins the experience for me a bit, though. If there are any alternatives, please let me know.

Edit: Just disabled all mods and it fixed. After watching the cinematic intro, I saved and re enabled all my mods. Works fine now.

Questions about the Nuka World DLC

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 03:17 AM PST

In Fallout 3, Sierra is pretty oblivious to the fact that Ronald Laren wants some of that action. While I doubt anything like that happened, I'm currently playing through the Nuka World DLC and I got to wondering as to his fate. I mean, with Evergreen Mills not far from Girdershade and with everywhere else nearby full of Ghouls (from what I remember, it's been a while since I went there), I'm surprised Sierra managed to survive long enough to be in Fallout 4 even without some sexually regressed asshole constantly breathing down her neck. Is he mentioned at all? Did he ever get that far? Is he even alive? Does any of this even matter?

Controversial Opinion: The Legion kind of suck as antagonists

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 03:28 PM PST

I think Fallout New Vegas is a great game, but the Legion are not great villains. They're both weak as enemies, and don't really drive the plot at all.

The first time you meet the Legion, at level 5 maybe if you've been.... playing the game, we see that they're horrible monsters who have burned down Nipton and crucified people. Except, they're horrible monsters who you can kill easily. You can wipe the floor with the Legion the first time you meet them, which firmly cements them as not a threat. They're fun to kill, but that makes them satisfying victims, not worthy foes. Compare that to the first time you meet the Enclave in 2, which will likely be the random encounter where Horrigan disintegrates a dude, and will kill you effortlessly if you interfere, if it's not the time an Enclave patrol vaporizes you.

Then you can find a nearby Legion camp, kill it, find some patrols, kill them too, go to that hostage mercy killing mission, kill everybody there because they forgot that the point of a hostage is to threaten to kill them if the enemy doesn't surrender/back off, and not purely decorative. Then, once you get any kind of weapon with decent range, you can fairly easily take down Cottonwood Cove at extremely early levels (I was level 8 or 10 on my current run when I did it), because they put it at the bottom of a cliff, and didn't put guards on top of the cliff. You can wipe out every Legion base west of the Colorado river before you get past Novac. And at some point, they may send some assassins after you, and they can be dangerous, but they can also be a really good source of good weapons. One of them brought me a thermic lance at level 6.

They don't even have that big a role in the plot either. Even if you go NCR. "That's Crazy!", you may say, "the whole game is about preparing to fight them", but most of it is only kind of related to them., and they barely show up.

    -Shot in head: No relevance

-Whole walk to Vegas: You can murder them at your leisure, but you can also just walk past them

-McCarran: A side thing, Silus is easy to trick, the spy is easy to find, the bomb is easy to defuse, they lose twice, no big deal, and the Fiends seem much worse

-Revenge-talking with house: nothing except any spy you haven't killed invites you to the fort, which while a moderately tough fight is also the legion's base, and it's not really though except for the inside of Caesar's Tent

-Boomers: You want to prepare for the fight, but the Legion doesn't show up at all, and if you rewrote the quest so that you were asking them for help repairing the dam, it would play out the same way

-Kings: No relevance, don't show up

-Khans: Do show up, are working with the Khans, but it still feels like they don't do much. They send 3 guys to stop you, all of whom are easily killed, and the Khans hate the NCR anyway, so it feels like if anything the Legion is helping you persuade the Khans not to fight the NCR

-Omertas: I guess they're conspiring with the Omertas, but they don't show up in person, and it kind of feels like something the Omertas could be doing without them.

-House: Not relevant, don't show up

-Brotherhood: you can get the Brotherhood to send some guys to help, but the conflict isn't really about the Legion, and they don't show up. Again, if they needed the Brotherhood's help to fix some things on the Dam it would play out the same way

-Assassination: Actually relevant here, though they lose, and primary difficulty is getting the frigging quest to work properly

-Final Battle: Yeah, it's against them, they lose though.

So, for most of the plot they're barely there, and whenever they show up they lose. These guys are kind of weakass antagonists.

    The Institute is very flawed.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 08:46 AM PST

Before I discuss this any further, I'd like to point out that this is my opinion.

The Institute believes they are humanities last hope for survival. This is false. Humanity has been surviving for many, many decades since the bombs fell. This was done completely without the Institute. Father, the director of the Institute, often mentions how horrific it is above ground. How there is no hope to be found.

    This is false.

Many good people do exist. People are rebuilding, they are interacting, they are surviving. The Institute could be considered irrelevant when regarding the growth of the wasteland. All they've done is hide, and enjoy the spoils of technology of the future. They have some of the brightest minds down there, and they keep everything to themselves.

    This is factual.

The Institute has little moral value. They view their creation, the synth, as nothing more than a tool. This would be true, and correct to see it as that, but the gen 3 models are indistinguishable from humans. This is slavery.

They are okay with everybody above ground fearing them. They don't care what anybody else thinks of them. Meaning they don't care for their interests, or their problems. This is not ok. They don't want to help anybody but themselves.

    The Institute is selfish.

I'd like to know what other people think. Do you agree/disagree? If so, why?

So I accidentally killed a guard there was a fight with some Super Mutants and I shot a guy by accident now I'm just wondering how long I have to wait for Diamond City to not treat me as hostile because I'm at a very crucial moment in the game where I need to go to Diamond City.

What game had the worst Main Quest in the series? (Fallout 1-4, New Vegas)

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 06:06 PM PST

So far, I'm not enjoying Fallout 3's main quest at all. I haven't finished it but so far, nothing in the series has been this boring. it's just flip flopping between objectives without anything to do in between, or anything to see in between except Tranquility Lane, which was boring imo.

[FO4] Deacon, What I think he may be.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 10:09 PM PST

I tried looking more into Deacon's History but could not really find anything other than what we already know, so it got me thinking about who or what Deacon is.

I honestly believe Deacon is a group of Clones that during some time in his past the Original "Deacon" was cloned multiple times and each clone was used to go get information.

Think about it, In Post war Fallout, most times people say the only one you can trust is yourself, so what if the Original "Deacon" actually and literally believed in that and decided to clone himself.

That would explain so many missing things about Deacon, Including many of the stories/ supposed lies he tells you and everyone else.

    Here is what I mean:

    • You see Deacon multiple times before going to the Railroad, he either is Bald or has Hair, so it would make sense for multiple Deacon's since hair growth is not that fast and I doubt he wears a wig.

    • He gets so much information about the common wealth, yet is also able to keep an eye on you and set many things up all at once, would it not make sense if there were a group of Deacon's that can relay information to each other from all over the Common Wealth.

    • Going back to his Disguises, I cannot see Deacon just slipping in unnoticed into positions like he does right off the bat, it would have to take some time to earn trust for some of the positions he is in, especially in position like a Caravanner, Diamond City Guard, a Drifter or using the memory den in those small communities where everyone knows each other, But with Clone's Deacon can be everywhere and nowhere at the same time and be known by many in that certain position.

I know I am leaving and missing other things that can be used to suggest Deacon is a Cloned person, but you should have an Idea of where this is going, I do believe that he is a clone though.

    What do you all think?

What do you think is the most over powered or broken perk out of all the game? Or some of your favorite perks?

Imo it would probably be gifted from Fallout 1 & 2 is broken and a personal favorite of mine is Concentrated Fire from Fallout 3, New Vegas, Fallout 4, and 76.

Question about the Legality of making a Fallout game/mod

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:06 AM PST

    Theoretically?

Theoretically mods are only legal because they're just modifications from assets people already own in the games that are being modded. So if one were to make a Fallout game in a different engine with their own assets that would still be illegal because of infringement and IP theft right? Or am I miss interpreting that? And how would one get past those road blocks?

Facebook apologies for banning Fallout 76 roleplayers

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 08:14 AM PST

Facebook has apologised for suspending various Fallout 76 roleplayers over the past few weeks. The social media company tells us it was a mistake and that it encourages anyone who has been erroneously banned to "report the error". We've checked in with everyone we've spoken to for the story, and everyone now has full access to their account, though we understand some people outside of that group are still not unbanned just yet.

"The groups and associated admins have been removed in error and have since been restored. We apologise for the inconvenience," a Facebook spokesperson tells us over email. "We encourage anyone who believes we made a mistake to please report the error."

Original story follows: Over the past week Fallout 76 roleplayers have had their accounts restricted on Facebook, and none of them knows why. A group of players who call themselves the Free States Militia were first to have some of their members' accounts silenced – after initially being banned entirely late last year. Now, though, other Fallout 76 players have come forward to share that they've also been restricted from posting in groups or creating new ones.

The players we spoke to say the restrictions came without warning or any clear instructions on appealing them. "When you go to the page that tells you that you're banned, it glitches out, and you have to hard stop the page to get out," Valorie Kaye, the creator of a Fallout 76 group called House of Bedlam, tells us. "I checked FB help groups. Multiple banned people, same exact ban, and same weird glitch. I had to restart my phone three times yesterday to exit Facebook."

So what did they do to get banned? They can only theorise. One of the players we spoke to points us toward a post shared in the FB Centre that details Facebook's preparation for US President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration. Facebook's VP of Integrity, Guy Rosen, and VP of Global Policy Management, Monika Bickert, explain that the social media platform has enacted additional measures to ensure that no one uses it for violence.

"We are also restricting some features for people in the US based on signals such as repeat violations of our policies," the post reads. "These restrictions include blocking these accounts from creating live videos or creating an event, group, or page."

The policies Facebook refers to include rules against violence and criminal behaviour that involve "organisations or individuals that proclaim a violent mission or are engaged in violence". Although everything the affected Fallout 76 players write is related to the videogame, it feels likely that something is tripping up Facebook's detection system.

Some Fallout 76 groups offer weapon and item trading, but the more common theme among the players we spoke to is that they post fan fiction and lore. The Free States Militia is based on an in-game anarchist, secessionist militia movement that tried and failed to create a new society in Appalachia. Role-playing to that brief may have tripped the group up last year, but its leader Bobby, who wishes to remain on first-name terms, tells us they've been more delicate this time around.

"Even in the written stories, we have been careful to alphanumerically substitute letters in certain words so the intent of the story can be met without using what we thought were the trigger words," Bobby explains.

    Finally playing Fallout 76

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 05:11 PM PST

And im loving it. I am a big fan of the series and was disapointed by the launch of this title. I could tell it had many issues and decided to wait to buy it and see what happens. Well, I did that and i ended up picking it up 20 dollars and am having a blast 4 days in.

It really has the fallout feel and all the dlcs have added so much life to the game (from what i could tell before they were a thing)

I dont know, just felt like posting this and letting others know if they were still in the air on trying it. I think it is definitely worth it right now if you have been nervous about trying it.

Fuck the Khans or Always kill Papa Khan and Regis

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 04:59 PM PST

This is a repost of a stupid essay/well formatted rant I made in r/falloutnewvegas. I posted it their primarily because of the title, this is my argument for wiping out the ""Great"" Khans, but it's a look at the entire history of the Khans from Vault 15 to the ""Great"" Khans so it belongs here as well. I also touched it up a little after an argument with a guy who called me Caesar because I thought that raiding was evil

Vault 15 was somewhat unique for a experiment vault in that it had an actual experiment that wasn't just VaultTec being dicks for no reason. The Vault was filled with people of different ethnicities and beliefs to see how they would cohabitate when they were stuck together. This vault was only intended to operate for 50 years and while the exact date for when the doors opened is unknown, it seems to have been a few years before the 50. 4 groups would leave the Vault: a group of people with the GECK that would form the NCR, a group of werido snake cultists called the Vipers, some feral survivors called the Jackals and the main characters of my essay, a pesudo-tribal group called the Khans. In Fallout 1, there are only 2 of these groups; the Khans and the baby NCR Shady Sands. In the backstory, the Jackals have fled into the Mojave from the Khans after the Khans kicked their ass, the only good deed the Khans have ever done. The Vipers managed to kill Maxson the 2nd, the then head of the Brotherhood of Steel and were thusly destroyed into running away to the Mojave as well. In story, the Khans are a fairly minor faction. After the Vault Dweller kills some Radscorpions, the Khans kidnap Aradesh's daughter and the Dweller rescues her with either stealth, speech or ultra-violence. The Dweller can even join the Khans if they feel like it. However, even in this brief interaction we can see the Khans as absoulute scum of the earth. They rob and kill people to survive and even keep slaves.

In Canon, the Vault Dweller gunned down nearly everyone at the Khan base and saved Tandi and the slaves. However, there was a survivor of this justified massacre by the name of Darion. He united the Khans that happened to be out during the massacre doing Khan things, you know, murdering and robbing innocent people, and hid like a massive pussy for years, terrified that Dweller would finish the job. But a few weeks before the Chosen One would be sent out to save his tribe, Darion stopped being a massive bitch and became a massive cunt, taking over a settlement in the ruins of Vault 15. He claimed that he and the Khans could repair the Vault and generate food and water, so the settlement wouldn't have to move to the NCR and pay taxes to survive. They were actually full of shit, and were killing and robbing to feed them, and killing memebers of the settlement that found out. The Chosen One managed to save a women they were going to execute and found out why the "New Khans" were doing this: they were using the settlement as a cover to try and destroy NCR out of revenge for Aradesh hiring a guy to save his daughter. Also, unlike last time, you can't talk down Darion. The New Khans are so crazy and blood thirsty that the only way to stop them is to kill them.

Following their most recent massacre, the Khans that were out murdering and robbing were united once more Papa Khan. They fled to the ruins of Las Vegas where the ever naive Followers of the Apocalypse tried to help them rebuild into a functioning society by teaching them life skills like agriculture and medicine. These skills would be enough to create an empire accoirding to one ending. The """"Great"""" Khans instantly became the biggest drug pushers in the Mojave, supplying Westside and fellow heros the Fiends single handedly. Merely dealing drugs to bad people wouldn't be so bad, but the enhancements aren't just gameplay; Razz of the Misifts showcases that Psycho really does enhance ones combat potential and Boxers in New Reno typically have Buffout hidden nearby. By dealing chems to the Fiends, they are making the Fiends more dangerous. About 10 years before Fallout New Vegas, House's robo scouts spotted NCR presence at Hoover Dam, and so House kicked into gear and quickly established the strip as seen in the game. Because House didn't want stupid violent losers on the strip, the Khans got their shit kicked again, and went running to Bitter Springs. Proving they didn't learn a damn thing from Darion's failure, the Khans started raiding NCR civilians DESPITE HAVING THE SKILLS TO START AN EMPIRE ACCORDING TO THE ENDINGS and surprisingly, the NCR were unhappy with innocent civilians getting robbed and killed so went to Bitter Springs to clean up the human garbage called the Khans. This led to the Bitter Springs massacre, where First Recon gunned down the elderly (people who retired from murdering and robbing), the wounded (people wounded from murdering and robbing) and kids (yeah no defense on that one, what the fuck). This led to the Great Kahns, having been wrecked once again but for the first time in their stain of an exsistence actually having due cause for being upset about it, continue to push drugs and kill and rob. 2 of these chuckle fucks even help Benny shoot the Courier, because they're idiots who thought they'd get paid out of the ass for killing some courier out of dozens. And then Papa Khan has the audacity to paint himself as the victim in the whole mess, saying that because the NCR killed several non-combatants they're fully justified in aligning with the Legion, seemingly forgetting all about the innocents that the Legion and the Khans have killed. I won't bitch about the Khans siding with the Legion; judging by Melissa they didn't know how bad they were and were being duped by Karl. But I will bitch about how fucking stupid they were for thinking that for some reason, they alone would be the tribe Caeser would keep around. Futhermore, at the bottom of the barrel, at their most pathetic, they continue to be morons by still running drugs by the very anti-drug Legion, which leads to a drug runner being captured and killed by the Legion.

To summerise, the Great Khans are a gang of stupid, violent, arrogant brutes that narrative seems to expect me to feel sorry for. In a way I pity them, the same way I pity the broken, lucid Fiends in Vault 3; they still massacred the Vault 3 Dwellers and the Khans are still vile murderers, who even with just the context of New Vegas have no right to continue.

A question for PC players from a console fallout player

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 08:12 PM PST

Some story that'll lead up to my question:

About a week ago I bought a gaming desktop and having been modding FNV like crazy through a YouTuber named Gophers tutorials. I usually play with a controller since I grew up with consoles. A lot of the cool mods I've been installing are pc centered (which i expected.) Now I'm realizing that a lot of the new bells and whistles i installed as mods won't work with a controller. (Such as a sprint mod or a grenade hotkey ect, or bullet time) I now wanna ditch the controller and use a keyboard. I always avoided using a keyboard since all the buttons felt overwhelming to me since some buttons did something in game and others didn't do anything at all. (I apologize in advance if I'm not making much sense.)

    My question:

What are some suggestions you guys have that'll help it be an easier transition to learn how to play and be comfortable with FNV on a keyboard over a controller? And also what're something you can suggest to make using a mouse more comfortable for my wrist?

I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you.
