So... I just finished Dead Money

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 06:52 PM PST

I just finished the Dead Money DLC for New Vegas. Before entering the Sierra Madre I put all of my items in a safe near Father Elijah's room. When I got back from the Sierra Madre, I was excited to get all of my weapons back. So you better believe the first thing I checked when I got back was the safe. I was surprised to see not just all of my items missing, but a "Complimentary Voucher" and 100 casino chips. Needless to say my disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

Headcanon : The Gunners are the result of the decimated DC Talon Company and Enclave joining forces

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 08:19 PM PST

So far the "Good Ending" has always generally been the one accepted as canon for sequels, which seems to have continued into Fallout 4, considering the comments you can hear about the Capital Wasteland, and the fact the DC BoS wasn't nuked, it seems that Good Karma Lone Wanderer is canon. This means they at the very least obliterated the Enclave, but also presumably did the rest of the content in the game with Good Karma, too, with Talon Company and Enclave being their two primary enemy forces. Both forces were thoroughly routed, with too many people to be truly ended, but too few survivors for them to be willing to keep up the fight in its current form. The Enclave is willing to do just about anything to meet their goals when they start to lose ground, so it makes sense that surviving Enclave leadership would rally the other enemies of the Lone Wanderer and regroup into a middleground.

The Enclave has few core values, but subjugation of mutants and slavery of the weak is one of their most commonly demonstrated motivations. This is because they fetishize the pre-war American military, and do whatever they can to reestablish that power.

The Talon Company, meanwhile, have no code whatsoever, not even an evil one. It isn't even "slavery is good". It's "whatever makes us money."

In the Gunners, we see these two ideologies meeting in the middle. They have an odd vested interest in enslaving the ghoul child you find in the fridge, and have no ghouls among their ranks. They fetishize the American Military, adopting their uniforms, armor, ranking system, and tactics, all things in line with them being an ideological descendant of the Enclave. They also do any job so long as the coin is good enough, the one tenant of the Talon Company.

I know there's no solid evidence for any of this, but the logic checks out and the gunners are so incredibly boring that I had to believe something. This helped me find them more engaging, so I figured I'd share.

So, started a new game a few days ago and poured a lot of time in creating the perfect "Country" of settlements.

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 11:06 AM PST

So basically I have the entire upper left quadrant under my control, heres how everything is set up:

So I have 3 main "cities"; Sanctuary, Covenant, & Sunshine. Each of those are just standard everyday folk living their lives

Ten pines and Zimonja are both decent homesteads where the more persecuted citizens can stay free of fear (strong lives alone in one and ghouls are in the other)

Greygarden is basically my robot factory, cods, curie, and ada oversee its daily operations

Starlight drive in is now fort starlight, given its position as the center for my country, a garrison of minutemen are stationed there to protect my settlements at a moments notice.

Abernathy farm stayed a farm, but is expanded and now produces almost all the food for my country

The red rocket is my jail, where any annoying standard settlers are sent to work on scavenging stations.

The castle serves as my Pentagon and all my followers along with my elite power armor minutemen task force are stationed there, with my prydwen parked directly above (mod)

Vault 81 is my "Institute 2.0", I knew to save face I had to destroy the villainous institute of the wasteland but its work was too important to lose, so I downloaded a synth creation mod and created synth copies of all the institute higher ups along with dima and virgil who run it and continue their work. There is also an entirely separate wing where my personal armory is located. Along with standard issue coursers, it is also guarded by sentry bots. It also does have a "refugee" wing i call vault 81-A where escaped original institute synths are allowed to live their lives in peace, basically a standard vault within the main complex but with no experiment shenanigans, a synth copy of nora is its overseer.

Boston airport is now the Boston battle dome, an arena for the Alcatraz prisoners to fight for a chance of a lighter sentence in my rehabilitation colony.

Jamaica plain is my rehabilitation colony, any prisoners who win freedom in the arena are allowed to live out their days here as normal citizens, but they cant leave and aren't supplied by the Abernathy farm, so they must make their own food and water. They are guarded by a squad of special synth coursers created from the template of the ruthless bounty hunter Kellogg.

And finaly spectacle island is my Alcatraz prison. All the raiders from nuka world are sent here and locked away or forced to fight in the arena.

Where does the road lead to? Fallout 5/6?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 01:58 AM PST

I'm curious what everyone's positions are on the overall arc of the Fallout series that seems to be brewing? East, West, and Middle America. The plot of the series seems to hint that at some point there'll come a clash between the NCR, Cesaer's Legion, and the Brotherhood (whom I'll say likely will control the East Coast or the Commonwealths by then). But what do you think?

Will F5 be set somewhere like NYC or NOLA? With factions vying to take control? Or could we jump forward a bit and enter that war sooner than we think? Personally, I believe F5 will be similar to F4, set in an isolated city with factions vying for control. And F6 could truly be the point where the factions collide.

Even more-so, I think the final DLC for F6 could be a stranger coming in from overseas and insinuating the world outside is also rebuilding. But will they come for the America's?

Moving forward with the Fallout Franchise, what do you think the outcome and longevity of the storyline will be? Could we see a comic series start around past companions? Could we get a secondary spinoff in a unique location? Maybe Canada for something uncommon with a different vibe and different cultural take. Maybe you're american and end up captured up north and they don't take kindly to you. Idk. What do you think? What's the future hold?

If you steal clothes off NPCs, the game will replace some of them, but not all of them.

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 05:05 AM PST

    How I found this out:

I got annoyed that Curie couldn't have a Vault 81 vault suit without me killing someone for it, which I'm not prepared to do. So I used up four perk slots on Pickpocket just to go for the non-violent method, went back to Vault 81 and stole the suit from right off the Overseer in her office. That's what she deserves for not leaving any spare suits lying around.

Then it got a bit silly. I felt it was being a bit discriminatory in some way or another just to steal the clothes off one person's back, so I went systematically round the vault and stole the clothes off every adult occupant. Left them all, civilians and security staff alike, wandering round in their underwear. Even took the Vault-Tec Lab Coats off the scientists, as well. Left the Vault with a couple of dozen vault suits, and a few sets of security armour. Sold most of them for a pittance at Diamond City.

Now here's the funny bit. I went back to the Vault afterwards, and some (but not all) of the guards have clothes again, as do the scientists. But the rest of the guards, and the civilians, don't. A very strange bit of inconsistency.

Curie objected to me stealing the first time, even though I was only doing it for her. She never said anything on subsequent occasions, though. It's like she's just accepted it's a thing that I do.

[FO3/4/NV] What detail did you only notice the FOURTH/FIFTH/SIXTH time you played the game?

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 05:48 PM PST

We all know the level of detail and Easter eggs in these games, which is one of their draws.

I'm curious what detail you saw that you only noticed after multiple playthroughs.

Today I found a mannequin hanging from a tree in a noose in FO4. Weird.

How to get Broken Steel to work? (FO3)

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 01:33 AM PST

Got broken steel today and loaded in with it, but didn't receive the pop up. I was ended the game and was brought to the main menu. I loaded a save from right before the last battle of the game, where you and Lyons team up and activate the purifier. I did go back and do some side quests before giving her the go to fight the enclave, but the message has not yet popped up. Is there any known fix to this? Any help is appreciated.

Fallout 4: Which Faction is Truly Best for The Commonwealth?

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 05:26 PM PST

I'm at that point in Fallout 4 where I have to decided which faction will come out on top and cease control of the Commonwealth. However I am feeling a little bit stuck since I've done all of the endings but have never really decided which one was for the greater good. Here's what I've gathered from each faction (please correct me if I get something wrong).

Minutemen: A group that is devoted to helping the small settlements of the Commonwealth. They're generally good and open minded people, allowing every settlement to live as they please as long as it's ethical. However, they are not a big or really a controlled faction. Sure, you're the general but you nor anyone really has an established set of rules. It's just "defend this settlement and it's people" and that's about all it has going for it. They let everything happen if they feel it is good. (If you side with them they kill all of the synths but evacuate the scientists.)

Railroad: A rebellion that is against the treatment of synths. They believe that synths are just as human as us and should be treated as so. They help synths run away from the institute and give them new identities. A truly noble cause. However, they don't really have an idea for the future of the Commonwealth, just for synths. Also, synths can be a bit tricky. They could start a war and try to turn everyone into synths. One became a raider leader so it could lead them to bring more trouble. Not to mention if an emp goes off they will most likely shut down, possibly losing their memory or even never starting back up. (If you side with them they kill the scientists and free the synths.)

BoS (Elder Maxon's rein): A military that is dedicated to collecting pre-war artifacts and technology, preventing it form falling into the wrong hands. They have the tools and powers to keep not only the Commonwealth safe, but the rest of the wasteland. They're making sure there is no possibility of a nuclear devastation and causing the wasteland to go back to square one. However, they are extremely close minded. They disapprove of anything that isn't human or from before the war, no matter what. They are a little like Nazis in a way. They want a brighter future but if they see something they don't consider to be or don't think is should be a living thing, it will get mowed town. Danse dedicated his life to the BoS and did everything they ask, no question about it. He was a high ranked soldier but the second he was discovered to be a synth, you are ordered to put him down, no ifs or buts. (If you side with them they kill everyone involved with the Institute.)

The Institute: A group of scientists that went underground (without vault-tecs help) to escape the bombs and harsh life of the wasteland. They also want what's best for the Commonwealth and to make life up there healthier and easier. They grow healthy plants and make cures for diseases, even being able to reverse the effects that made super mutants. They have the technology, brains and safety to do so. However, the word "mercy" isn't in their vocabulary. They will perform experiments on anything, and they don't care how painful it is, as long as it gives them results. They treat synths and other creatures not deemed as "normal" like garbage. They also don't believe that the wasteland and its people have no hope. Let's not forget that they have been kidnapping people and putting them in shallow graves and then replacing them with their synths. Their ways of collecting data are far from ethical. Shaun releases you from cryo sleep just to see how long you would last and how you would react to the wasteland, not because he wanted to see you. (If you side with then then both the Railroad and the BoS will fall and a lot of people will be upset at you.)

So there you go. Sorry if I got a few things wrong, don't be afraid to correct me. Sorry if there are any typos or misspellings, I wrote this on a mobile device.

[FO4]Is The Game Still Shit on Xbox One X?(FPS ISSUES)

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 10:37 PM PST

[FO4]. Is this because of this awkcr mod?

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 12:48 PM PST

Always when I have a suit like vaultsuit equipped and put some armor on it like leather armor it just works

But as soon as I change to a different outfit the game crashes

I always have to unequip my armor before changing the suit or anything like that.

Do you guys know why this is and whether it is caused by the mod?

    Settlement building mods immersion help.

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 04:10 PM PST

I have played this game for probably about 1k hours. I've done a rush game to beat it, a playthrough on normal, a playthrough for each DLC and a lightly modded survival game. I've also had *countless* false starts. I feel I have earned the right to use whatever mods I so wish and I want to use whatever mods I wish.

...and yet. I still feel like I'm breaking immersion. I have OCD, genuine OCD not 'oh I'm so OCD' and I feel like things need to be perfect or it's inherently unacceptable. I want to play a game with unlocked items from the start, unlimited resources to build with, things like that. But every time I try to it feels 'wrong' like I'm cheating myself, and I quit. But I also don't enjoy finding scrap anymore! It's a circle of nightmares.

How do you immerse yourself while still using mods like this?
